Seen this bug before on Mac OSX 10.6.8..CS6 Illustrator 16.0.3 Missing thumbnails and labels in the layers palette.Also note missing selections at the bottom of the palette.
View 2 RepliesAI CS6 Layers panel missing labels when you deselect print in the layer options. Is this a bug? I noticed this on a furnished file at work on a MacPro and had a hard time working the file because all of the labels were missing.
I stumbled on the cause when I turned on the Print Layer and all the labels came back. To be sure it was not computer related, I made a file on my AI CS6 version 16.1.0 with the same result. See screen shot.

I'm working on a rather complex piece of artwork in Illustrator CC with the latest Mac OS, with several objects on each layer.
Whenever I click an object, its layer in the Layers palette auto-expands, pushing all of the main layers off of the edge of the palette. I then have to click the little arrow to collapse the layer so I can see all of the other layers and (quickly?) get to the one I need.
I am using a Magic Trackpad (don't ask) so this task is particularly arduous, as the cursor is often somewhat difficult to maneuver when attempting to target small UI elements. My display height is only 1050 px, so naturally I would rather not make the layer thumbnails any smaller (25 px.)
Is it possible to disable or defeat the auto-expanding behavior? Placed in bold

View 11 Replies View RelatedI had recently encountered a problem where I couldn't get the layer tool (F7) to show up. The "delete AI Pref" course of action didn't work for me. To cut the story short, this is what I did to get it working.
# Search for *.aip in the system
# Found "Layer Palette.aip" in C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Support FilesRequired
# Made a copy of "Layer Palette.aip" to C:Program FilesAdobeIllustrator 10Plug-insExtensions
The bottom of my layers palette is below the visible part of my computer screen...becasue I am now working away from home on my laptop (and the layers palette is showing up the same size as it was when I last used Illustrator on my large monitor screen). How do I re-size it, so I can use the items at the bottom of the palette?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I click on an eye symbol the symbol disappears, but not the elements on the screen like you should expect. There's also a weird behavior with the lock symbols. If I lock a layer, I can click the paths anyway. The lock symbols doesn't work anymore. The whole layers palette is useless now. I tried to remove the whole "Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings" folder, but that had no positive effect.

On one, in the Layers palette, next to the "eye" that turns layers on and off, a thumbnail image shows for each layer making it very easy to identify the layer you are working on.
On my other PC, the thumbnail is not there.
What setting must I change? How do I turn that thumbnail on?
I often will copy a layer in the layers palette via option drag. If the original layer is linked to another, the new layer is also linked to the orginal layer I copied as well as any other layers that original was linked to.
Is there anyway to option drag to copy a layer in the layers palette without the new layer being linked?
Upgrading to 4.1 and imported my 3.6 catalog.All the files and collections appear - but most thumbnails are missing. Many of the missing files are in storage off my PC on DVD. So I am thinking that the thumbnails aren't part of the LR3.6 catalogue (3.6 shows all thumbnails of files both on the PC AND storred off it on DVD once read in) but stored differently? If so, can I read them into 4.1 from 3.6?
If not I am concerned that we are deducing that maybe I will I have to read them all in again off dozens (and dozens) of DVD's?! Both a laborious task AND a bit of a shortcoming...err...to say the least in the way things have been put together maybe?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Ements 10 Orgainzer and Editor. Suddenly, yesterday, every time I click on a picture in Organizer, it grays out and turns into a gray square with a broken gray photo shape inside it. The same file opens up fine in the Editor and the thumbnail still appears in my My Pictures folder. It opens fine in Picasa. Why this is suddenly happening? The files are .tif and some have been Edited and saved, including some with Adboe layers, but this should not effect the Organizer. Is there something that needs to be reoptimzed or done. It is making the Organizer completely worthless for me.

The thumbnail is just that white rectangle with a photo and loupe on it- I really need to see the image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying PS Elements 9. I've imported my pictures into the Organizer but some of the pictures don't have thumbnails. Instead they have a placeholder graphic with a flower on it and a blue triangle with an exclamation mark. I don't see any explanation of what this might mean. These pictures did not generate errors when they were imported. The pictures were scanned photos, just like the ones that imported correctly.
I've tried deleting the pictures from the catalog and reimporting. I've tried updating the thumbnail. The picture can be opened and edited in Elements but even if the edited photo is saved as a copy, it does not display a thumbnail.
I've just installed LR4 and imported my catalog from LR3. All have imported OK apart from the fact that I had my pictures colour labeled and these don't show in LR4. The labels show in Bridge so they are still there but don't show in Lightroom.

It doesn´t plot my alignment labels. Also happening on some other drawings like plan and profile. If i do plot them one by one from the drawing, they plot fine. I installed PSP X6 Ulitimate and when I first pulled it up I saw Instant Effects Thumbnails under the Adjust Tab. I experimented with a few then had to get off. When I reopened the program all the thumbnails were gone. No matter what I do I can't get the Instant Effects to show up in any of the tabs. Sometimes I'll scroll the mouse over the area, click it, and the photo will have one of the instant effects applied, e.g. black and white. That doesn't do me any good because I can't see what is being applied before clicking if the thumbnails aren't showing. how to get the instant effects to show back up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThere are some pictures from a friends wedding in lightroom who are missing/ offline. The problem is that the pictures aren't on my computer or memory card anymore and I already tried a data recovery with Disk Drill. Unfortunately the pictures (documents) which have been found by Disk Drill, are damaged and can't be opened. So the pictures are really gone.
But now I was looking in Lightroom (i've uploaded the pictures with Lightroom in the first place) and I see that the thumbnails are from a reasonable quality. That's why I am wondering if it's possible to larger the thumbnails without losing quality/ pixels. Of course I already tried a few things (SmillaEnlarger & some things in Photoshop), but unfortunately the pictures are still very bad.
Or is there any other way to get this pictures back? I still got the catalogus from Lightroom where the pictures where.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot for the life of me get the start and end labels for any band to display within a profile view. Each band has the 'label start' and 'label end' labels ticked and the major/minor labels display at every other point but don't display anything at the start of the view or end. The profile views are taken from a simple straight alignment and the profiles themselves extend the full length of the view.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have an existing grade surface and I am laying out a number of different site designs. I've got all my surfaces from those site designs on different layers each displayed in a different layout. I need to label existing contours on each layout in different places. I've setup additional contour label styles (two for each design, major, and minor) and layers (two for each design, major, and minor). However, when I add labels to my existing surface, they come in on the right layer, but whenever I freeze any of the many layers my contour labels are on, they all turn off. The only workaround I can figure is to make copies of my existing surface for each design option and label each independantly. However, this is inacceptable as far as data management goes, since my one file will be hundreds of megs with all those surfaces.
