I have a photograph with a women that has brown/reddish hair against a maroon colored background and I'm having trouble keying her out. I've tried the Refine Edge tool and played with all the settings and it isn't working very well.
View 3 RepliesWhen using Photoshop CS, I've arranged text on a white background and saved it as a variety of file types (.jpg, .tif, .psd, etc.) and used RGB and CMYK color profiles. On screen it looks correct but when I print it, it comes out with a tan colored background. I've tried both a large scale plotter and a small color laser printer and get the same result.

I have taken a series of pictures in a light box with the aim of using them in a school recipe book we are making and selling for charity. I'd like to try and remove the background of one image in particular. The image is of a plain cupcake in a white liner taken on a white background. My aim is to use the image on either a white page of a pastel tinted page with the recipe listed at the side.

For instance if I want to select a pine tree in forest and the tree is in the foregrond and there are trees of the same color in the background, I have found it hard to select because of the similar colors...all of the tutorials I have seen all have a single color back ground ie a girl with hair and doing a refind edge is pretty straight forward....but how do you do that with a busy background..(for instance ) I want to select a pine tree with all of it componets and plant it in the middle of the desert.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a webpage footer to edit and I don't have the .psd file so I'm trying to use content-aware to take out an unwanted part. Problem is, the background isn't one solid color and the area where I'm making the edit has a definitive color change...it's an actual line dividing the footer into two sections. So, whenever I do the content aware fill it doesn't keep that line or the colors the way they "should" be.

I am kinda new to image editing and I am wondering how to do something like on the news (the weather reports in particular) where the replace/add the landscape to a green/blue background. I would like to do it with a white background and have it replaceed with something more interesting. The closest I can find is the color replacement tool but that is not quite what I want to do. Any ideas?

There are places where it is almost indistinguishable where the fir ends and the background begins (on his neck). What is the best method to remove the background?
While I've used Photoshop a lot, I am not formally trained, so need input on what tolerance levels, etc. should probably be. I've inserted the image. Haven't purchased it yet because I'm not confident I'm going to be able to remove the background.
I have CS6. Having trouble removing a background where part of the backgrouond is almost exactly the same color as the subject's hair. I've tried the refine edge tool- I get yucky greyed areas in the one spot where the hair & the similar background color meet. I have tried to use channels, but I am not very skilled in that yet.

I would like to remove the background from that. I read few tutorials but they have one color(shades of color) background and quite good contrast. They make hair white and bg. black. But in my image some hair are black and some white and they overlap each other. I found great plugin to Photoshop named Topaz Remask 3, but I haven´t PS.
I have a light-colored image that I want to make a transparent background of without having any of the jagged white edges and whatnot, to make a signature and avatar and so on. I've tried the magic wand, Alpha Mask, and Alpha Space, none of which have succeeded. As I said, the image itself is very light (the attached image), so it's difficult to achieve what I'm trying to do.

How can i get such effects like in the attached image;
- first of all; the image has no background - the grapes are shown on a plain white background.Note; there is another nice little thing that we have to mention; the image of the grapes are somewhat with a kind of a overdose of light - i think that this is a nice effect - perhaps added with gimp!? The grapes look very interesting.
- the next effect that i like is the adding of the circles that are seen in the image. How did they add those pastel colored circles.

I am working with a vector file that was created by someone else and am unable to get a hold of that person. It is of a logo and when I applied a colored background to the logo or import it into another file, the color of some objects of the log becomes very pale and "desaturated."

It seems that it can be done using Photoshop, but there do not seem to be any tutorials around for GIMP. There are heaps for cutting out dark coloured hair from all sorts of backgrounds but nothing to cut out flowing blonde hair from a multicoloured background.
View 13 Replies View Relatedtrying every layer mask combo I could think of to create a realistic shade of white hair that doesn't look like I just used the brush tool to make it.
I've tried lighting up the shadows with the curves option then using the selective color option. But all that does is make a very fake looking film to put over the eyebrows (ya it's eyebrows I'm working on, I'm trying to get them to match a white wig the subject is wearing.)
I've also tried using the solid color option, and a color overlay and that just came out weird.
Has anyone ever turned pitch black hair to white and had it still look like hair?

a) I follow the tutorial above to remove backgrounds. However, the background has similar color than picture (in this case "white" - picture attached - FIG_2). So, when I use "background eraser" tool, it erase part of my picture as well. So, how to handle it properly?
b) The tutorial was usefull to other image that has different backgound color (FIG_3 attached). But using other software (Gimp) I could just take the transparency index (color=> color to alfa) with "one click" without the request of erase background manually. So, is there any similar way to do it easily in Paint Shop?
