I just installed CS4 and every picture I try to open in photoshop (jpg, jpeg, bmp, etc..) all open as a solid black picture.
but on the right side of the page under layers I can see the little pic preview clearly as the background, but on the screen it's just solid black.

As I drag the window back and forth between the external display and my laptop display, the previous state briefly shows. When I drag it to the external monitor it looks ok for a split second in vertical bands that refresh to solid black. Same when I'm dragging the window back, the window remains black on my main laptop monitor until it refreshes back to normal, in the same vertical-band fashion. The frame of the window, including rulers looks ok, but the image area, including the canvas color turns black. This blackness can be captured in a screenshot.
On the PNG that is working, I do get some black as the image resizes between displays (stays at 100% but on the lower res monitor it doubles in size). In CS6 the image does not resize, the % changes (16.67 on external, 33.33% on laptop) and remains approximately the same size.
Perhaps this is more of a bug than something I can do anything about, but I am unable to login to Photoshop.com. I get an "it is no longer possible to create an account" message, even though I already have an account.
How can i change the solid black color to photoshop color?

Unfortunately, the jpeg is plotting out as solid black. I have tried inserting it in different ways but same result when plotting. I understand the difference between PS and nonPS plotters/drivers but I was under the impression that there was a setting to plot images in nonPS plotter dialouge box. I did find various incarnations of my question but nothing that directly speaks to it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded my PC and before when I select plot quality "high graphics" the spreadsheet comes out low resolution, if I use monochrome spreadsheets came out perfectly defined.
Now with the new PC High graphics still comes out the same but when I select monochrome all I get is a solid black block. If the OLE object is an image (BMP) it comes out perfect with monochrome,it only happens with excel files
I search the forums for an answer but the closest I found was changing the OLE type under properties (currently is embedded); problem is the field is grayed out and cannot be changed just as the source application (ms excel 2003)
By the way, on the older files created with my old PC if I just open and print them from the new computer they come out perfect; if I open the OLE file and modify it, the solid black block shows up regardless if I print to PDF or print on paper.
There's a transparency box you can check when you go to print.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is what my artboard looks like. What I'm trying to do is just get the black shapes as one solid logo without the white showing. For example, if I were to place this in another Illustrator project, it would still have the white rectangles with full transperency. I tried a tut online, but when I place the AI file into another project, the WHOLE image is invisible.
If I were to open this AI file in Photoshop, I could use the Magic Wand to delete the white parts and leave just the black shape. I want to be able to resize the black shape and use it on banners, avatars, etc.
Background notes: I am using this for my gaming website and I would like to be able to use this for my logo. (Crossfire)
I am designing a calendar. When designing the background is a solid black, but when I export or save as PNG it appears on the screen as dark grey. I'm self taught and don't know if it will print out grey or black.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen importing my pictures into lightroom, i have several pictures that have black lines through them. looks like dotted lines - no two are the same, some have it some do not.
I save the RAW data from my camera chip to an external drive. then I import the ones that I want from that external into lightroom. At first I thought it was my camers. but what else could it be? Card reader? External drive? hard drive on computer?
Because of the problems with wipeouts, I have switched to using some solid hatch set to colour 255. The hatch is in paperspace, sitting under titleblock and other Layout text. I am plotting to an HP1050C, using a .ctb file with 255 set with grayscale off.
The plot preview is fine, but the hatch blocks come out black on paper. I thought this was the problem with wipeouts, and that hatch didn't suffer from it.
I have been trying to save an image at 1200 dpi. The image turns solid black.
I had this problem once before (months ago). I know it has something to do with the Resource Consumption settings (i.e. Edit -> Preferences -> Environment - > Resource Consumption).
I got it figured out before but I reloaded Gimp on my computer so the settings went back to default. It has something to do with increasing the cache size or the total new image size or something. I can't remember.
When I print a bitmap or picture a black line is also printed on top of it, what can I do? since clients don't like that line.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am working on a photo montage and some of the photos will not open. Most of them did just fine but I am thinking that the ones that will not might be because they are too large. I have tried Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Imaginate. None of those will work. Windows Paint will open them. Some of them I was able to resize in Paint and then open in Photoshop but the rest I cannot.
If I could scale down in Paint I think I could then get them to open in Photoshop but they are so big that I cannot do that. There doesn't seem to be a demagnifier in Paint. Another thing, Windows Explorer reads them just fine as they show up as thumbnails and also in Filmstrip mode.
.jpg export screen shows a solid black area instead of my graphic image - why? but when I open the .jpg file that was exported, it looks correct (not a large black rectangle). why is the preview window in the export window showing a large black area? see attached screenshot.

Printing a black and white layout to my HP LaserJet 4000 produces an image that appears to be grayscale instead of solid black. In other words, my text, line border I've put around the layout and graphics (for the most part), all appear about 70-80% black instead of SOLID black. Small text doesn't appear to be nearly as sharp because it looks like a halftone instead solid black. On one layout I just printed, the entire thing appears halftoned except for one vector graphic that did print in solid black. Strange. I figured I have something set incorrectly in the software or printer. Has to be the CDR X6 software though because all other programs output just fine.
When I want to upload pictures into Lightroom 5.2RC the window is black and no picture is shown. This was also true for Lightroom 5. The same pictures are imported into LR 4 without any problems.
My system: 27" IMac newest generation, 16GB Ram. Uploading from a Ricoh GR, Fuji X-Pro 1, Fuji X100 directly or from a Hama cardreader USB 2 or 3.
Since yesterday I have the problem, that I can't open/save pictures as PNG any more, the option is completely gone.When I try to open one, it says "not the right kind of document".
I don't know what I've done, I just wanted to install filters and I've put them in the Plug-ins/Filters folder.But they didn't work so I've put them out again.I already deleted my preferences and I am desperate, I don't know what to do anymore.
