I've got a series of portrait type images where I may want to change the background. Once I select the image to placing a solid background behind that image? For instance, in this image, perhaps a solid black background would look better. PSE7

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 5" x 7" (landscape style) image that I want to crop in Elements 9. I'm using the Guided mode on the Edit tab of the program. When I use the pulldown menu and I see the 5 x 7 crop box size that I want to use, I click it. But the crop window that appears, is 7 x 5 (portrait mode) rather than 5 x 7 landscape mode. I can work around this by changing my crop box size selection on the pulldown menu to No Restriction, but I'm then just guessing that I'll get precisely the 5 x 7 ratio that I want. How can I change the crop box from portrait style to landscape style so that I can crop my image 5 x 7 rather than 7 x 5?

I want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the background color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7.

I was teaching an Elements class today where participants had varying laptops (Windows or Mac) all with either Elements 9 or 10 installed. I was showing people how to right/click (Mac: control/click) on the default gray color and change it to black. About half of the participants didn't get this option when following my directions. I went to several laptops and tried it myself with no pop-up window offering "gray, black or custom".
