I recently downloaded a paintbrush to use in photoshop. I have photoshop cs6.The file I downloaded is an .abr file.
I clicked on it and it opened photoshop.I can't find the brush.
There were no instructions with the file. I downloaded from a free paintbrush website.How do I find the brush?
way to make a brand new preset, or do I have to load the custom brushes everytime i want to use them?

I used to move the ABR files to the Brush folder in the Adobe PS Program files, and then they would be accessible from the brush palette in the program. In CS3, I move them to the same place and due to the different interface, I can't find how to access them. Recently however, about 20 of the 60 brush sets have appeared in a random drop down menu.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded some fills and brushes from Xara Xone, but even after reading the instructions given, I am unable to add them to Xtreme Pro 4. I unzipped and extracted the files to a folder on my flash drive. When I went to add them to Xara I could access the folder where they reside, but the files didn't come up.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi purchased a symbol package online and it came with these instructions URL... that i followed to a T. the problem.,. well the symbols and the brushes do not show in library for me to use. the package name showed in the library.. but when i click on it, the list is empty. how can i get them to show in the library permanently.
by the way, when i open the downloaded package using Ai, the symbols are there and i am able to open them no problem. but i can't get them to populate in the brushes, symbols library.
I've been using Gimp for sometime now.It's a fantastic program, but I thought the area where it lacked the mostwas the brushes. It only came with a few basic brushes, and you often hadto download extra packs for that something extra. This in itself wasn't ahuge deal, although if you had brush sets more like those of PaintTool SAIor MyPaint, that would be really great. Those program don't have as much asGimp, but they have some really great brushes, which makes them fun to drawin.
My bigger concerns is adding your own brushes to Gimp via imported brushpacks. While you say you integrate all files, the brush manager is lacking.If I wish to add a few brush packs to see what they do, the brush listquickly becomes clogged. You can't seem to delete brushes without goingback into the brushes folder which you first put them in, and then deletethe files. This also means if you like a few brushes in a pack, but therest of it is useless to you, then you have to have everything, or nothing.
There is a lot to be desired in terms of the brushes, and I hope you canimprove these soon. I stand by Gimp, even though people often call it awatered down version of Photoshop, but Gimp 2.8 has been a hugedisappointment for me.
On a final note, when choosing a new brush, especially for the animatedtexture brushes you include, I think it would be useful if youautomatically went to the brushes native size. This saves time and energy,especially if you are testing out new brushes. MyPaint has this feature,and I have found it incredibly useful. This also means I can just click thebrush a second time to reset it to the default settings.
If you see the face iv used a smooth brush and its bringing out all these noise spots. If i try to darken a background its totally unusable. Iv never had these presets and brushes do this but the last 2 sessions iv had massive issues, Its happening on pics which i wouldnt think would have issues and have never had issues before. Lightroom 4 had none of these problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working with CS6 windows. I am having a problem when I made a brush, and add additional strokes to the same line.
Here is a pic of what is happening. You can see at the beginning of the arrow, there is a blue and pink link showing around the beginning of the arrow head. I added the pink and blue lines to the same line as the brush using the appearance tab.
Now if I add a dash to the the pink and blue lines, this is what happens... There is a little pink and blue line at the very tip of the arrow head. My dash options use for both the pink and blue lines.
My question is how to I get rid of this little line? What I am trying to do is.. use the black arrowhead on line with a stoke of 1 point black, and then under that have a 3 point stroke of white. In the image what is blue would be white, and what is pink would be black, and the arrowhead is correct as it is now. I had this same setup in CS4, and did not have that little line at the beginning.

I'm using Lightroom 4.4 on Mac.
Having an issue where all brushes and graduated filters are adding a warm yellow tint, no matter what the color settings are for the brush. The tint persists, even if I convert the image to B&W within Lightroom.
I recently downloaded the trial version of Photoshop Elements 6.0, and everything worked fine until I loaded some new brushes. Ever since I loaded those brushes, the only color ANY brush will paint in is white. I deleted the brushes, but I still can't paint in any other color.
Has anyone else ever had this problem, and what'd you do to fix it?
Using the square brush set in CS6 results in a sqaure that is, in fact, not really square...
Note how there are 3 90 degree corners, but the bottom right is rounded, and the bottom and right sides are faded.Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI paint for a long time with Photoshop. I always tried to set up my brushes so that the paint strokes look as realistic (for example like pencil or like acrylic brush strokes) as possible.
The problem is, when i Google for realistic brushes i always find only scanned brush/pencil strokes or scanned flowers and so on. But i need the brush settings to make the Photoshop brush behave like a pencil, marker or acrylic brush.
I have just downloaded paint.net and wanted to know if and how to add grunge brushes.I'm new to paint and photoscape.I have Windows 7 with IE 8 browser,if that matters.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3 about two months ago and love it. Everything has been working great for me. I haven't installed any updates, bonuses, or add-ons, mainly because I haven't needed them.
I'm trying to import some premade brush tips. It seems Corel is having trouble recognizing the file types. I originally tried to import an .abr file which wasn't recognized. I converted the files to .png, and got the error message: "the file (C:/users/etc/etc) is a newer format version and unsupported." I used an online "how to" guide when importing these brushes. I wish I could find the guide, but I can't at the moment. I'm pretty sure the directions I followed were accurate, though.
Anyway, what file types will corel accept as brushes? Why am I having trouble importing these brushes?
I've been trying to delete some of my custom brushes because I really don't care for them that much, but I haven't been able to figure out how?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI've started to try out digital painting, and have been looking for a paint program with the basic features I want without a bunch of extra stuff to get in my way and slow the program down. I've tried a few dozen programs at least, and so far I like Paint.net the most. There is one problem that is preventing me from using it exclusively over something like the GIMP or SAI, and that is the way it handles transparent brushes.
When I go to paint with an opaque brush the end result is just hideous. I've attached an image to demonstrate what I mean, next to the type of stroke I want that I did in the GIMP.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to realize this, but apparently I have a bunch of double brushes loaded in my Custom Brushes Mini plug in. From the looks of it, I did two things: 1) I added several sets of brushes twice, and 2) On the majority of the sets, I loaded both the brush and the brush preview (from ABR). So now it is registering that I have over 600 brushes, when the number is closer to 350.
Is there a way to delete out those extra brushes and previews from the plug in? I'm expecting it to be slow loading, because of the brushes anyway. But taking off all of those extras would still work quite a bit in speeding things up.
I have Windows 7 64 bit and PSP x5. Everytime I try to access my brushes, it freezes and the drop down menu won't open to select a brush. If I play with it for an hour or so it will finally come down for a second and I have to select quickly before it closes again. I have lots of memory and hard drive space. I've uninstalled KB2670838 windows update, as another forum suggested for general x5 freezes. I deleted all the brushed from the program file and made a separate folder and pointed XP to it in the file locations. The same thing happened with my tubes, but after continually trying to open them several times, it finally opened and from that point on it worked, not so with the brushes which I need to use in my work.I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall, it took so long to get all the plugins added and working to have to do that again.

I know in Photoshop, Custom Brushes are done with opacity maps With white being transparent and black being full color and all the greys in between being different levels of transparent. I've tried doing that with custom brushes mini and I've also tried making the images transparent, but I just cant seem to make it work. I can get either completely solid and completely transparent. But nothing in between...

This morning I was trying to get the color dynamics to work with the paint brushes. It seems that in 2.8 the "Color to Gradient" dynamics tool was taken out. (However, in the dynamics there are many cool options to choose from, just not gradient.) Right now when I add a brush library, they just stack on top of one another.
For example let's say I have a round brush with a 10 diameter, then next to it a round brush with a 20 diameter. If I make a 15, it goes to the bottom of the list, and I have to scroll all around. How can I group them?
I suspect I would have to make my own brush library with my brushes how I want them, then save that and load it?
I have some irregular shapes pure black on white background. I want to be able to make an outline with a fixed pixel size- quite small - less than 20 pixels around the inside edge as though I had taken a brush and carefully run it around the edge- it need to be more precise that what I can do by hand
I'm not suer yet whether the inside of the line should b hard or soft edge when it touches the colour, the outside edge can overlap the shape as it will be masked out- to leave a hard outside edge
when I use the flat brushes to paint the colours are not flat but are of different tones of the color in the shape of the brush.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI find that as long as I do not lift the pen off the tablet I can overlap strokes without changing the value of the strokes I've already made. However, once I lift the pen off the tablet and try to continue my work, inevitably I end up going over some of the previous strokes, and where the strokes overlap, the value of the paint doubles, creating a nasty blotchy effect.
