GIMP :: How To Get Color Dynamics To Work With Paint Brushes

This morning I was trying to get the color dynamics to work with the paint brushes. It seems that in 2.8 the "Color to Gradient" dynamics tool was taken out. (However, in the dynamics there are many cool options to choose from, just not gradient.) So getting frustrated, I searched the web after someone mentioned the "Color to Gradient" dynamics and I found this tutorial on creating a "Color to Gradient" dynamics from the dynamics editor.

I am having trouble with my tools in gimp. When I try to use the brush tool it says "no paint dynamics available with this tool".

i have no problems installing new brushes when using windows, you simply extract the brushes in the brushes folder of course I am doing exactly the same thing with my linux machine but I cant seem to get the brushes when i restart Gimp in linux. I even tried extracting the brushes in a couple of other folders within the Gimp/brushes folder. Still they fail to appear ?

I have CS6. I used to be able to fade out brushes under the Size Jitter in Shape Dynamics but can't now. I open up CS3 and I can do it in there. why it isn't working in CS6?

I am using the paintbrushes and all I can get is black. How to you change the colors on the Paintbrushes? I have clicked on the "Color Options" in the Paintbrush toolbox but nothing happens.

i have a cloud license for photoshop cs6 on the pc with windows 7. for my brush presets, color dynamics and dual brush (and some others) are grayed out. i cannot turn them on or off or lock or unlock them. I have one of the wet media brushes selected as i should but these items remain grayed out.

I've been trying to alter the exposure of a picture in UFraw - a CR2 Raw image - and then open it up in Gimp so that I can experiment with HDR, trouble is I get the above message each time I try. Not sure if I'm missing a plugin or filter.
Also, is there a way to make the brush Dynamics default so that it is set to "Dynamics Off." Each time I fire up Gimp the Dynamics have reset to Basic Dynamics even if I select the tool options, under Preferences, and set them to save on exit or save now.

The brush dynamics matrix is all greyed out and there is no way to activate it. Maybe Im doing something wrong. I understand that you can either set the brush dynamics preset or set the matrix. Also the curve editor doesnt seem to be working either.

I just installed Gimp 2.8 using Jernej Simončič's installer on my Windows 7 system.
I seem to be unable to customize the pressure dynamics. All options in the mapping matrix are grey, and I can't do anything about the curves. I've tried copying the tool presets and changing my copies instead, but the only menu that becomes non-grey is the one with options like "Apply stored FG/BG", and changing options there doesn't unlock the mapping matrix. the Color Dynamics for my Brush Presets is Locked, how do I unlock it so I can use COLOR for my paintbrush, right now it is only painting in white!

I've been playing around with the pen tool and i was wondering whether there was a way of altering the brush dynamics so that when i stroke the path it produces a tapered effect i.e. so that the path starts as a point, grows thicker towards the middle, then tapers back to a point?

I am using the latest version of GIMP on my windows 7 pc but color to alpha doesn't work. At my pc at work it works fine but i use windows xp there and i have ghostscript and python installed.
Or is it something completely different?

I'm looking at tutorials on how to add strokes to text (I downloaded it today) and they say to use the color select tool. In their demonstration, when they select text, it has the normal dotted lines around it. For me, when I click it just has a thick border around it and it tells me to move my mouse to change the threshold. It won't select the text, just change the threshold when moving my mouse from left to right.

I am trying to use Color Balance and the window doesn't work. The only part that shows is the "Enhance Color Balance" box, the words "purple" and "green" just above, and the preview arrow (which does nothing) and "preview on image". Preview on image is checked and it does show changes but I am unable to uncheck it. Nothing else shows. Nothing I have tried has worked, including restarting the computer.

i have a black written logo with some letters in blue and i want to change the color into green.
the problem is that at the edge of each letter the color is slightly different (light blue) to make it look smoother.
if i now take the color bucket and fill the letter up, the color changes but it gets filled with the same color until the edges and it doesn't look smooth again.
changing the antialias effekt doesn't effect anything -

i want to change the blue by green but with the lighter parts of the edges. simple and easy like refilling the colors.
is this possible with Paint.NET or should i consider to buy photoshop because of this lack of functionality?

According to URL....I should be able to sample a color from the desktop. This doesn't work when I try to capture a color from a web page displayed in IE 10 (desktop mode).
It does work with Chrome, and I suspect other browsers as well (haven't the time to try them all).

How do you rearrange the brushes in the brushes box?
I've seen they are arranged by name, so how do you rename the brushes since renaming the file name don't rename the brush.

I scanned a file in my scanner, it is jpg. The file opens fine in Gimp 2.8.2. I added a transparent layer but when I start to paint on it, the only color Gimp will let me use is black. I can change the foreground and background to any color I want, and it still draws black. I created a white layer, same problem. If I draw on the original file layer, it does the same thing. I already saved the file as an xcf file.
If I open a fresh file, the color works fine, it seems to be just this one file. What have I done to this file and how can I fix it? I tried to attach the file, but it looks like it did not work, I don't know.

I have photoshop 5.5 and it works totally fine with my bosto kingtee tablet. I recently tried downloading the CC trial to test it out and I can click buttons in photoshop with the pen just fine, I can draw with the mouse just fine, but it doesn't put a mark on the canvas with my pen. I then grabbed a cs6 trial, same deal. Seems only 5.5 is working for me. I've reset the brush settings and preferences, I reinstalled my pen drivers.

I've been creating album covers for a few years now. I've always used my own art work, and the stock brushes in photoshop, but I've been wanting to branch out and expand my brush collection.
I'm looking for brushes I can use in my artwork for my personal sale and profit (I'm guessing it would be commercial work?).
I've downloaded brushes from deviantart.com and the brushes I downloaded had the message that I could use them as long as I credit the artist in which I got the brushes from, but does that give me the right to use their brushes in my work that I sell? Some artists specify that their work may not be used for commercial work, but other artists only say they require credit for their work if used.
I've looked at downloading images from istockphoto.com to create my own brushes, but it says I can not use the images in my own work for personal profit/commercial use. Code:

I make brushes for sale. I make versions vor CS2+ and I make larger brushes for CS6+.
I think I should probably make the brushes in CS6 to be good for CC and CS6, but thought I'd ask if it's possible to just make them in CC. Would save me having to keep CS6 on my computer.

Okay, so after a month of struggling to get Potoshop CS6 Extended Teacher Student Edition to work, I was playing around, downloading brushes and actions. The actions work. But I can't get the brushes to. I download them into the downloads file and then move them into program files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64bit) > Presets > Brushes
There are some other folders. The other one is in program files > Adobe > Adobe Bridge CS6 (64bit) Program Files (x86) > Adobe... And In that is Fllash player, Photoshop Utilites - CS6, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Extension Manager CS6, Adobe Bridge CS6 and Acrobat 5.0
In the program files and not Program Files (x86) And then when I moved the files into the brushes folder, I got something that said "You'll need to provide administator premission to copy to this folder." And then it asks to countunie, skip or cancel.

i put them in the brush folder, and inside the brush folder there is another folder called "adobe photoshop only" with some other brushes that came with it, i tried putting them in there too but still, they don't show up when i used the brush tool :(

I'm having trouble with 2 problems in Photoshop CS. My first problem is that my keyboard shortcuts don't work, at all. They are turned on, but still do not work. Ive even tried setting my own, and those wont work either. Can anyone tell me how to fix that? Secondly, my brushes don't work. I have to set the brush to be over 100 just to see like a 5 pt line show up on the canvas. Ive tried everything!!!

My photoshop brushes only work on a black background. And they only work as white. I figured it was just the one group, but it isn't. It's ALL of them. Did I do something wrong? Or what's up with it? When I downloaded them, they showed the preview of the brushes in several colors. Yet mine won't work. Why is that? (btw, i'm using photoshop CS1)
