GIMP :: No Paint Dynamics Available With Tool
Nov 28, 2012I am having trouble with my tools in gimp. When I try to use the brush tool it says "no paint dynamics available with this tool".

View 3 RepliesThis morning I was trying to get the color dynamics to work with the paint brushes. It seems that in 2.8 the "Color to Gradient" dynamics tool was taken out. (However, in the dynamics there are many cool options to choose from, just not gradient.) So getting frustrated, I searched the web after someone mentioned the "Color to Gradient" dynamics and I found this tutorial on creating a "Color to Gradient" dynamics from the dynamics editor.

I've been trying to alter the exposure of a picture in UFraw - a CR2 Raw image - and then open it up in Gimp so that I can experiment with HDR, trouble is I get the above message each time I try. Not sure if I'm missing a plugin or filter.
Also, is there a way to make the brush Dynamics default so that it is set to "Dynamics Off." Each time I fire up Gimp the Dynamics have reset to Basic Dynamics even if I select the tool options, under Preferences, and set them to save on exit or save now.
The brush dynamics matrix is all greyed out and there is no way to activate it. Maybe Im doing something wrong. I understand that you can either set the brush dynamics preset or set the matrix. Also the curve editor doesnt seem to be working either.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed Gimp 2.8 using Jernej Simončič's installer on my Windows 7 system.
I seem to be unable to customize the pressure dynamics. All options in the mapping matrix are grey, and I can't do anything about the curves. I've tried copying the tool presets and changing my copies instead, but the only menu that becomes non-grey is the one with options like "Apply stored FG/BG", and changing options there doesn't unlock the mapping matrix. I fear a bug, especially after reading this post:[URL]
I've been playing around with the pen tool and i was wondering whether there was a way of altering the brush dynamics so that when i stroke the path it produces a tapered effect i.e. so that the path starts as a point, grows thicker towards the middle, then tapers back to a point?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to rotate the paintbrush tool? There's many times when I'm using a brush and it's at the wrong angle. Placing the brush on a separate layer and then rotating the layer is a huge hassle. Therefore, I was wondering if there was a way to rotate brushes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem changing the Paint Tool in the Stroke Path Dialog .
I'm using GIMP v2.6.11
First I stroke a path using the Paintbrush as the paint tool. Then I change the Paintbrush to Airbrush and try to stroke the same path and it seems like it's still using the Paintbrush (or even worse, it does nothing at all). Sometimes I reopen the stroke path dialog and it seems to have reverted back to the last paint tool I used (Paintbrush) and my Airbrush selection seems to have been completely ignored.
Currently if I want to stroke with different paint tools I have to do the following. Stroke with Paintbrush, stoke with Pencil and then undo (for some reason changing from the pencil tool doesn't have the problem), then stroke with Airbrush. I always have to do this intermediary step of stroking and undoing with a pencil to get the new paint tool to register.
When I create custom brushes and custom brush dynamics is it possible to associate one with another? For example then I select one of my custom brushes is there a feature in gimp to load corresponding dynamics preset automatically?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with the paint bucket tool; when I fill in an area with the tool it leaves a thin white border between the area and any lines drawn with the paintbrush tool.
(see attachment) how this can be remedied? Since I'm working on a comic and going back over every line filling in the color takes far too much time.
I cannot get the tapered brush effect when I check the Shape Dynamics box.
Usually it automatically tapers the brush, but it just is staying round.
Have tried re-installing,
I am using CS4 64bit
I want to disable Brush Dynamics for all brush sizes. I tried going to the Brushes window found on the top right of Photoshop and disabling it. However, if I change the size of the Brush, all changes become undone. What do I do to make the changes permanent?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just received the wacom intuos 4 and find that the pressure sensitivity with CS4 no longer works I have gone into brush presets shape dynamics and set the first option to pen pressure but the shape of the brush does not show any change (eg tapering at the ends) Is there a special setting that must be used to activate the pen pressure effect with CS4. I never had to do tis previously.

I need to put in these settings:
Spacing: 25%
Fade: 25
Hue jitter:0%
Hardness: 0 %
Scatter:0 %
where the brush dynamics is or where I put these settings in?
Even when selecting a default brush my brush stroke is not at all similar to the shape (slowly widening and then tapering off 'ie default preset') even when shape dynamics is turned on, as you can see in the photo. I'm certain it's not due to my tablet, as the sensitivity works fine in other programs. I am currently using CS5.

I am trying to get a pen stroke that starts out thin...gets normal size in the middle...and then shrinks back down to a thin line at the end.
In brush dynamics... I am able to get a thin ending on a stroke but not a thin beginning. Im using the size jitter control set to fade at 300 to get a line that fades to thin OK at the end...but I cant make the beginning thin!
I am trying to stroke a curved path for Christmas designs...scroll kind of looks...thin beginning...fat middle...thin end.
I simply cannot get the brush to taper with the preset or custom settings.

I use modified versions of the standard round brush for my art. And just a few days ago when I started up photoshop, my transfer and shape dynamics tools were not working. I can tick them on and off, edit the sliders and such but it doesn't effect the brush like it should.
I tried re-booting the brushes and resetting the painting workspace but it didn't make a difference. I then uninstalled photoshop under the impression that if I re-installed it, it would load up photoshop with factory settings. But it just re-loaded the broken version I thought I had deleted and it has no icon now.

On a new layer, I used the line and curve tools to draw the outline of a human figure. I want to fill the shape with a color. However, I can't figure out how to select the entire figure so that I can fill it using the Paint Bucket tool. How can I do that?

I have checked the road map for GIMP and I have seen that the Unified transform tool can be expected in version 3.8. (ugh)
Now what I would like to ask is there any tool or plugin for GIMP that can transform my selections? Or is there any open source image editor that can do it.
I'm not an artist and just for this I have to use Photoshop. For me PS is an overkill for just cutting up an image.
- Photoshop CC "has topped working"
- Shape dynamics, brush customization not working properly
New brush selected - the settings are strange.,Large spacing, scattering on by default Shape dynamics not responding in settings, only responds by clicking the "Always Use Pressure For Size" button Eraser not working on pen Updated CC, Updated Wacom Drivers, Restarted Computers.
Photoshop CS6 worked fine (still on my computer), but CC is just a nightmare with the Wacom brush settings.
I like this effect to give a page more dynamics. Yet, i understand how they do it but i can't replicate it. [URL]...how to do this clean and solid?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a long time GIMP user but I'm new to Mac. My Wacom works perfect with the GIMP. I figured out to use click-through so I would have to double click all the time on windows. What I can't figure out is why my mouse can't use any tools. I pick a tool, select for example - it does nothing on the canvas. Paint tool, nothing. Any tool I try does nothing when using my mouse. I switch to my Wacom and all the tools work perfectly.
