Photoshop :: Shape Dynamics
Apr 1, 2009I cannot get the tapered brush effect when I check the Shape Dynamics box.
Usually it automatically tapers the brush, but it just is staying round.
Have tried re-installing,
I am using CS4 64bit

Nov 27, 2013Even when selecting a default brush my brush stroke is not at all similar to the shape (slowly widening and then tapering off 'ie default preset') even when shape dynamics is turned on, as you can see in the photo. I'm certain it's not due to my tablet, as the sensitivity works fine in other programs. I am currently using CS5.

Nov 25, 2008Have CS3 on XP.
I am trying to get a pen stroke that starts out thin...gets normal size in the middle...and then shrinks back down to a thin line at the end.
In brush dynamics... I am able to get a thin ending on a stroke but not a thin beginning. Im using the size jitter control set to fade at 300 to get a line that fades to thin OK at the end...but I cant make the beginning thin!
I am trying to stroke a curved path for Christmas designs...scroll kind of looks...thin beginning...fat middle...thin end.

Photoshop CS6 worked fine (still on my computer), but CC is just a nightmare with the Wacom brush settings.

May 3, 2009I just received the wacom intuos 4 and find that the pressure sensitivity with CS4 no longer works I have gone into brush presets shape dynamics and set the first option to pen pressure but the shape of the brush does not show any change (eg tapering at the ends) Is there a special setting that must be used to activate the pen pressure effect with CS4. I never had to do tis previously.

Aug 14, 2012i have a cloud license for photoshop cs6 on the pc with windows 7. for my brush presets, color dynamics and dual brush (and some others) are grayed out. i cannot turn them on or off or lock or unlock them. I have one of the wet media brushes selected as i should but these items remain grayed out.

Apr 26, 2013 I use modified versions of the standard round brush for my art. And just a few days ago when I started up photoshop, my transfer and shape dynamics tools were not working. I can tick them on and off, edit the sliders and such but it doesn't effect the brush like it should.
I tried re-booting the brushes and resetting the painting workspace but it didn't make a difference. I then uninstalled photoshop under the impression that if I re-installed it, it would load up photoshop with factory settings. But it just re-loaded the broken version I thought I had deleted and it has no icon now.

Feb 19, 2013I've been trying to alter the exposure of a picture in UFraw - a CR2 Raw image - and then open it up in Gimp so that I can experiment with HDR, trouble is I get the above message each time I try. Not sure if I'm missing a plugin or filter.
Also, is there a way to make the brush Dynamics default so that it is set to "Dynamics Off." Each time I fire up Gimp the Dynamics have reset to Basic Dynamics even if I select the tool options, under Preferences, and set them to save on exit or save now.

I seem to be unable to customize the pressure dynamics. All options in the mapping matrix are grey, and I can't do anything about the curves. I've tried copying the tool presets and changing my copies instead, but the only menu that becomes non-grey is the one with options like "Apply stored FG/BG", and changing options there doesn't unlock the mapping matrix. Sep 25, 2012In Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!
This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).

Jan 14, 2012I'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Text Within Shape While Precisely Keeping The Shape's Outline
Nov 11, 2011I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?
