When using ImageReady, and having imported an image to the stage...
Is there a way to update that imported image when you have made changes elsewhere, for example in Photoshop.
Sort of the sameway you can update library objects in Flash.
I'm importing two separately made images to Photoshop; both made from Sketchbook Pro on the i Pad. One is a background, the other is just a doodle. (background)

What I've done so far is use "Color Range..." to remove just the black, then apply the "Darken" effect within the Layers Palette.(current view)
What I must know is how to use my doodle layer as a mask; to use the texture from the background image in the doodles brush strokes, but not be seen in the areas that used to be black.
I aim to use this effect in many kinds of imported images made from my i Pad, as well as handwritten graphics. I trust this would be very simple to use with actual typed-out text, but I'm having difficulty to find pre-existing solutions.
A customer sent me a .step file. In order to produce the part that I need, I wanted to add some machining to his original part. Os I derived in his part and then added the features that I needed. Just a few tapped holes in one side.
Now, my customer made a few changes to his original part (added some detail) and he has sent me his new .stp file. I did not think it would be any problems if I just overwrote the original stp file with the new one. But, if I do that, when I open my part, Inventor complains that the updated part is part is not usable.
I tried saving the imported file as a .ipt and then bringing that into an assembly and doing the machining there. But, now when I replace the imported file with the updated version, my features fail.
Is there a workflow that will allow me to update the part that is derived into another part?

Previously i`m using version 2009 and importing Google earth image and surface works fine. However, recently i tried with version 2010 and i`m having some problem here (imported surface / contour seems ok but the image is too large like 3x or 4x). How to solve that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading from 2012 because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed.
Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I have seen no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I dont want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipeouts dont work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
Suppose all of them share a common layer. This common layer has layer styles applied to it. So, suppose that after creating a certain number of compositions, you find that that common layer needs an adjustment to its style and this adjustment needs to be applied to all previous compositions. I found out that I need to go back to each of the previous compositions, load it, redo the style and then update it.
My question is: is there a way to apply a change in the style of a layer, shared by many compositions, to all compositions that use that layer in a simpler and more quick way than remaking/updating them one by one?
Using CS5 and Win7. I just noticed something with my text in CS5 which is different from CS3 and as far as I'm concerned, a step back.
I made a text layer with some words. The words appeared as the layer name in the layers palate (say I typed "TEXT" on the screen and the text layer was named text). Then I double clicked on the text icon and this selected the word on the screen. I then changed the word "TEXT" to some other word say "WORD". However, this new word I typed in was not carried over to the layer name so the old layer name remained.
In CS3, the layer name is updated when the words on the screen are changed. I'd really like to have the new text update on the layer name. Is there some way to fix this or is this just something in my system.
A Levels Adj. Layer sits above a regular Layer. When I make a change with Levels, the image updates normally, but the icon of the image in the Layers Panel does not change--it always reflects its original appearance.
I believe that the icon updated in CS5. Am I dreaming? Is there a new setting?
i used photoshop to design the website sliced it with image ready and imported as html..but then i check out the website some of the image is pixelated..how can i fix it.to view it as the same thing as i see it in photoshop while designing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have changed the color, line weight and description of specific layers. We used to use Layer state to update the layers, now we use the design center.
Changes made in Example 1. Example 2 has the wrong layers - so Design center is open, layers from Example 1 are dragged and dropped into Example 2.

At work we have been using layer states to set line weights and colors in multiple xref's for plotting demo and install drawings.
So what is happening is that we continue to receive updated files from other groups and I'm unclear on how to update the layer state to include the new layers that have been included in the updated xrefs.
Image not updating after applying filter in CS6. Preview is generated but filter won't apply. Very sporadic so I'm assuming it might be a memory problem. Using on Win7, AMD Phenom II, with 8 GB of memory.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm importing dxf files from the structural engineering program RAM Structural Systems where my buddy down the hall is modeling beams/columns/ etc in 3d. Importing is not a problem but I would like to know if there is someway to map the layers from his dxf to come in on my layers in cad instead of having to go through and select each object and place in on my desired layer. RAM does use layers for each member. For example :
when he models a beam in RAM its on an SBM layer. Is there a way I can make that SBM layer come in on my S-Beam layer that I have setup in cad?
In short I'm trying to find a way to not have to go through each dxf he emails me and place things on the layers I want them on in cad. I was curious if there was a way I could make cad recognize. SBM layer will be mapped to my layer S-Beam when imported.
I have a Shape Layer in Photoshop. When the .PSD is imported as a comp, AE CS6 is layering the masks incorrectly. It requires the user to manually re-order the masks to display correctly.
is there any way to interpret PS shape layers as pixels or Illustrator vectors instead of masks? [without rasterizing in PS, of course] When AE turns them into masks, AE obviously won't update the masks if I make changes to the shape in Photoshop.)
I've created a composition with animation in After Effects. Because of the complexity of the composition and its many layers, adding a 3D camera layer to it spawned a whole lot of issues with the wipe effects I had on the pre-existing layers and movement of my layers. So I rendered the composition without the camera layer, nested the .mov into a new comp and added a camera layer. The animation works great but I'm getting a lot of pixelation. Highest HD settings, full resolution, preserving quality of layers when nesting and not sure what's happening.

In CS5, if I had Text Layers and changed the text on the layer (by double-clicking the "T" icon of the specific Layer in the Layers palette), the name of the Layer would change to reflect the new text I entered.
For some reason this behavior is gone in CS6. So, for example:
• I have a Text Layer with the word "Email" on my canvas. The Text Layer name also reads "Email".
• I double-click the "T" icon of the Email Layer to edit the text on canvas.
• I enter new text, "Contact". The text on canvas updates to "Contact", but the Layer Name remains "Email".
So, for accurate Layer names, I find myself having to change the text twice: once on the canvas, and then manually updating the Layer name as well. Is there an option or preference somewhere that I'm missing that would re-enable the behavior from CS5?
I have a 3ds model of a golf ball I purchased. It imports properly into my Photoshop CC. I haven't been able to figure out how to apply an image (my logo) to the surface of the golf ball. Also, the golf ball has a dimpled surface so I will want the image to follow the contours of the ball, as if it would look if the logo were painted onto a real golf ball.
EDIT: Also, I want to keep the golf ball as a 3d object so I can animate it in a scene.
I have an imported image that needs a 50px black frame with hard edges on the _outside_ of the image.I have found solutions but they do not have mitered corners.I cannot use the canvas size to accomplish this as the canvas contains other objects.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I import shape files the polylines will not take the layer style I move them to. They stay a continuous linetype. Linetype and Lineweight is set to ByLayer. Only difference between the new lines and the lines drawing correctly is the lines that stay continuous are 3D polylines and the correct ones are normal polylines. What I need to do to make the imported lines accept my layer linetypes?

As most should know, this has long been a feature: tweak an image file in Photoshop, save it (same file name), and Illustrator will recognize the image has been edited and ask if you want to update it automatically. Hit 'Return', as 'Okay' is the default dialog button action, and image updated: one step. Without auto-update, user must manually access link palette, select edited image link, and 'Relink' the image ('Update Link' unavailable here now as well): three-plus steps (including identifying and selecting image file after 'Relink').
View 2 Replies View RelatedLR Version Running: v4.1 Catalog Size: 27176 images spreadout over approximately 150 folders
Primary Problem: The image counts represented on folders in LR are not reflecting accurate counts until I run "Synchronize Folder" option. This occurs on a fairly frequent basis and in a number of cases I can reproduce the problem.
History: This missing of images in a folder has been plaguing me since the initial release of LR. During that time I opened a case and Adobe Technical Support who took over my desktop and were also able to reproduce the problem. They had no fix but said that it was a software bug and would be corrected in a subsequent release. I am now on LR 4.1 and it still is present.
Specific Examples:
1) I will go to a folder looking for an image that I know at one time was visible in LR but now it no longer is there. So, I search for it using LR on such attributes as filename or keywords without success. I then open up Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder and there it is. I can even right-click on the file name and open it up in Adobe Photoshop. I don't like going that route because I lose any adjustments I may have applied in LR. So my solution has been to right-click on the folder of the file that is missing the image(s) and select "synchronize folder". I am then presented with a dialog box that displays the number of missing (that LR calls"new") photos. Next, I click on the "Synchronize" button in which I am then presented with the import screen and shown the missing images. I then click on "Import" button and when the updating process is finished the folder Count is now correct and image shows up in the folder.
2) I can reproduce this behavior every time when I open an image in PS from LR, duplicate it, convert the duplicate to Black & White (Image-->Adjustments-->"Black & White"), apply an action to reduce the file size and change the color space, and then save it as a jpeg in a folder called "web" sitting under the original source folder. After saving it the count on the folder does not change, at least not until I go through the "Synchronize Folder" process. Ironically, if I now go to the original color image that the B&W was duplicated from and convert and save it as a jpeg to the same folder the folder updates immediately.
3) After importing a large number of images from a photo session into LR (via a card reader) I will delete the unwanted images, assign a subject specific naming convention to the remaining ones, attach keywords, and then use the export function to transfer them to their various subject related folders for long-term storage. Since missing images has been a long-standing problem for me, out of paranoia I will go to the folders to verify that the images are present For example, recently I exported 50 images to a folder and then went to it to verify all the images transferred correctly. I was unable to find five of the images. After running "Synchronize Folder" the folder amount was updated in the images appeared in the folder. All of files in this case were Canon RAW (CR2).
i am trying to create an Action in CS3 but some of my actions are not been recorded.
What i want to do is run the Batch option on a folder with a 1,000 PDFs in it. The PDFs (which were created in Illustrator CS3) consist of a single page with a single embedded image at the foot of the page. I am trying to update that embedded image. The Actions i am trying to record are...
1) Select the single image in the Links palette.
2) Choose the "Relink.." option in the drop down menu of the Links palette.
3) Navigate to the new image and select "Place".
4) Save and close document.
But the first two actions are not been recorded.
From trying this manually the new image seems to take on the horizontal and vertical scaling of the previous image which is what i want. But if i am going to have to do a script then that is a factor that may have to be incorporated into the script.
I am using Mech 2007. I have created a template to use with new drawings, and want to know if there is a way to update all the drawings at the same time when updating the template.

I've seen a couple of tutorials that make use of a "master layer" but I don't understand the "when & why.
I've imported an image into gimp, I then have imported another image using File open as layers.
Once this second image is imported it's obviously far too large, I want it to easily sit within the first image.
However when I right click > image > scale image it alter's both of them at once. It does this whether I have both images showing or not.
I work for a Transit Agency and I am creating new scheduling brochures along with maps. I have attached an image of the brochure so that you can see what is going on. I created the maps using Paint.Net. The schedule was created in Microsoft Excel. When I tried to copy and paste it directly from Excel to Paint.net, it wouldn't allow me to do it. So, what I did was take the Excel spreadsheet and copy/paste it to regular Microsoft Paint and saved it as a picture, then using Paint.net under layers tab / import image , it transferred it to my map, however if you look closely the wording is a little blurry and the column on the far right is really blurry.
is there any way to fix this, or would there be an easier approach of transferring it to my map using Paint.net and by-passing Microsoft Paint ?
I've created a book cover for upload to Amazon's kindle site, however they want the image at 300 dpi....
The images I used for my project were created with "Logo Creator" and it exported them at 72 dpi...Is there a way to change the dpi density?
