Aug 14, 2008I am trying to use the warp text tool to create an arch with my text. However, when I make my arch, the font becomes very distorted and I cannot figure out why. By distorted, I mean the font is not holding it's true shape while making the arch.

Mar 25, 2013When I use the 3D tools in PS CS6, the render is 'warping' the clean lines in an odd manner.Notice the curves on the C and O are getting points and straight lines in the top left corners? And the inside of the O is showing some strange distortion.

Oct 19, 2012If you have a text layer on the Video timeline in PS CS6, there is an option to use key frames with Text Warp. Unfortunately, unlike other key framed animations, the change from one warp state to another is not gradual. It simply jumps from one warp selection at one key frame to another warp selection at the next key frame. Converting it to a Smart Object removes the Warp Text animation option but retains the animation.
Is this behavior by design?

Jan 17, 2005I am trying to make warp text like this picture. But when I do "warp text" it never comes out like that. I try the different "lower and upper arc), my text becomes a little rounded at the bottom (its suppose to be straight). Is there a special to create this type of warp text?

Aug 11, 2009I opened an old file, probably from photoshop 7 or something, where I was using 'warp text' - just a simple 6 degree arc. Now, in CS4, I attempt to change the text written, or make any changes at all to the type, and the font becomes distorted. It doesn't matter what font, and it does it from scratch as well as editing existing warped text. Did my warp feature become corrupted somehow?

Nov 5, 2013I'm trying to create an effect of small text following the outline of very large bold block text (see picture). The idea I had was to first create the 'ME' in very large font as text. Then convert that text to an object / path using "Object -> Flatten Transparency... -> "Convert all text to outline"". Then, select that path and use the "Type along path" tool.
However, when I use that process, the resulting path is a compound path that therefore the Type Along Path tool doesn't work. Any pointers on how to achieve this? The image below I just used the pencil to trace the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc.

May 17, 2012I'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.

May 23, 2013I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
Illustrator :: Warp Text And Preserve Outlines?
Feb 25, 2014So I have text that I would like warp in an Arc. I will be cutting this on a plotter. WHen I use the envelope distort the envelope blocks my text in outline mode. If I go to Effect>Arc the warp only occurs in preview but the outlines do not change as the plotter would see it.
I'm sure there is some way to warp text into an arc and have the outlines remain visible and warped for the plottter to cut, no?

Mar 20, 2014I accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.

May 24, 2009I can create text on a path in Indesign easily enough but keep running into the same problem in Photoshop CS4.
I create a curved path with the pen tool but when I click on it with the type tool a little circle is created on the path that stops me typing fully along the path - i can only type up to the circle.
I've hi-lighted the circle in this screen grab.
I'd like to type "text on a path" but the circle prevents me typing anymore words once the letters "text" have reached the circle and an x appears in the circle.
I keep getting this problem on any curved paths I make.

Sep 12, 2005I can't figure this out... and tried to utilize the SEARCH feature of this site... but couldnt get the best results for what i'm trying to achieve.
I'm trying to type on a circle path-- but I want the text to be typed on the INSIDE of the circle, not the outside.
Let me see if i could clarify without making it more complicated :
Normally, (i'm using cs2) I would draw the circle path and move the text cursor over the shape until it reveals that "wiggly" line. Okay- so i understand that. When I start typing, the text "STANDS" on the drawn path. How do I have the text "HANG" from the path? (much like how a pendant would "hang" off of a necklace)
Is there any possible way, other than drawing out a straight line (with the pentool) and manipulating it to bend (like the letter "U")?

Process1. create a new background
2. make a circular selection
3. issue "select / to path" command
4. issue "select / none" command
5. create my text, 35 characters long on one line6. issue "text / along path" command
The text ALWAYS starts at the 12 o'clock position and is ALWAYS cut off at the 19th character! On the original circle the text cuts off at the 4 o'clock position.If I make the circle larger the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 2 o'clock
If I make the circle smaller the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 6 o'clock..All the circles are large enough for all the text to print around their circumference.
