Can anyone help me to achieve the following using Photoshop CS3?
I've got an image of a light blue wave. The wave is not a solig color, but consists of many blue variations. The background of this image is white.
Now I want to paint the background blue and the wave in different shades of white and light blue. How can this be done?
I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine.All licences were validated so no problems there.Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.
If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket.But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.
Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. See attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.
I have CS5 on my PC but plan to buy a new iMac.Do I have to buy a new version of PS for Mac or can existing license be modified and transferred to the new Mac?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I switch between Photoshop 6 and other apps, particularly Chrome, I have to actually click the Photoshop icon, sometimes several times to get the system to focus on PS and show those menus. Clicking the window, which works for every other app, doesn't seem to work here. I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and using the latest PS6.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an image a guide line appears horizontally above the image in the gray background frame. I don't see an option to switch off the guide as default. Have I missed this?
You can clear the guide easily enough but I'd like an option to stop it altogether. I have changed the colour to light gray so it is unobtrusive but it would be helpful to get rid of it.
Strangely, I have the same problem in Dreamweaver CS3. Guide lines always appear on open pages. Can't get rid of those either.
I am a MacPro user and after a few hours of use the tools switch of, by that I mean clone, brush etc just will not work. If I restart, they work okay anyone any idea what is going on please?

Is there anything around that will control the loading of Photoshop filters in the way that Conflict Catcher or Extension Manager used to control the loading of extensions under System 9 and earlier? (I'm on a Mac).
Usually I know what I'll need before I begin a session so it would be nice to thin things out before starting.
The colors of pictures is much darker when working in photoshop than when I open it normally. And vice versa, I work on images inside photoshop, and I get the colors I want, but once I save it to bmp or jpg or anything else, all the colors are much lighter.
i'm using photoshop 7.
i threw all my brush ABR's into the adobe Photoshop/Preset/Brushes folder so they would appear when I click on the expanded options inside of the brush panel on the top/right under the close "x". however that icon is so small and annoying to click on, does anyone know of a easier way to load/switch between brush sets?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery Time I reopen a CS6 Photoshop file the text areas switch places, switch layers. I cannot use Photoshop CS6 for Mock ups with text.
I tried opening the file in CS5 and the type is still switching places!
Photoshop CS6 constantly setting the keyboard focus to the menu bar? This makes it difficult to use shortcuts.
Typical examples: I want to switch to the Move tool, so I press V, but instead, the View menu drops down. Or I press T for the Type tool, but instead, the Filter menu drops down. This happens often and it's very annoying.
This also happens in Premiere Pro CS6, and happens on both my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 machines. Doesn't happen in other applications, and is not related to actually using a menu, i.e. if I choose something from a menu, then press V, Photoshop will often work correctly and activate the Move tool. This behavior seems to happen randomly.
When working on large documents, the cursor freezes for 8-10 sec when I switch from PS to another app/finder. It also happens when I switch back to PS. 8-10 sec. of complete freeze out until everything starts working again.

I'm currently using Photoshop to stitch together many images at once, so I often open 6+ images at once. As it takes a little while for Photoshop to open all these images, I would like to use another application (web browsing, typing in a document, etc.) while Photoshop is loading.
However, every time Photoshop opens a new image, the computer switches back to the Photoshop window, making it very difficult to use some other application. Is there a way to disable this switching, either in the OS or Photoshop? I'm currently running Win7 64-bit and Photoshop CS5 Extended 64-bit.
Using Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) on a Mac Pro OSX v 10.6.8 it is no more possible to switch through open image windows with the OS related key combo "command <". There is also no Photoshop own configurable command available, that could solve this issue. CS5 or versions below always allowed that, and I very much miss this practical and fast switching between images, much faster then having to maneuver down through the "windows" menu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne day, when starting CS4 and working, I noticed that when adding text to an image, while the cursor moves, no text is in fact visible.
As soon as I switch layers, it appears. This also occurs for other actions, where you perform the action, but the effects of that action is not visible until you switch layers, or do SOMETHING else.

Photoshop CS5...For whatever reason the hotkeys for controling brush opacity and flow switch randomly, and its a bit frustrtating in my work flow.For the hotkey for Opacity will atlernate between 0-9 and shift + 0-9
The hokey for Flow will alternate between 0-9 and shift + 0-9 as wellOne project I will be used to useing shift + 0-9 to adjust the flow, but in the next document it will alter opacity instead.
I'm running an Intel i7 Win7 64, with CS5 installed. 12GB RAM, Scratch disk on a separate drive to installation. The problem is manifest in both 32 and 64 bit versions of Photoshop.
The issue is that when I select a new tool with a keyboard shortcut, there is a brief paus and the cursor changes to the new tool, then it simply switches back to the previous tool. The behaviour is not aparrent when selecting tools using the buttons in the toolbox with the mouse/pen.
Example:
- Move tool currently active
- Press B to activate brush
- 500ms elapse
- Cursor changes to brush, Toolbox "Brush" icon highlights as if selected.
- 800-1000ms later, tool resets back to "Move", "Move" icon in toolbox highlights.
The only workaround I have found is if I quickly "Double Tap" the keyboard shortcut (Or triple/quadruple sometimes), it seems to force the change. Restarting PS does not work, the problem exists in all files of all sizes. The UI is also noticably laggy.I found a similar problem here:[URL]... but none of the proposed solutions were of use.
I have been using elements 11 for months with no problems. Yesterday, out of the blue, I started to be unable to go back and edit anything I did when working in the program. I cannot deselect an image or text unless I change the tool I am using. I cannot then reselect something I have moved on from to edit it. I am very, very confused as to why I cannot use basic functions anymore in this program and it is making it impossible to use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.
Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?
We are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.
Using CS6 on a MacBookPro Is there a way to find the closest matching Pantone spot colors to the cmyk colors I've created in Illustrator? I know it's easy in Photoshop using the color picker, but there must be a way to do this in Illustrator.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen creating a new layer and positioning it in the active frame, the position is sometimes wrong when returning to that frame.
1. create multiple frames in the timeline
2. create a layer and position it somewhere in the image
3. view another frame
4. return to the original frame and the position has changed
Positioning the layer again seems to work, it doesn't move by itself when moving between frames, but remains in position.
I bought Photoshop CS4 about a year and a half ago and it worked on my old Macbook (10.5.8) absolutely fine. I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro (Lion 10.7.3) and now Photoshop crashes about every ten minutes for no apparent reason. By "crashes" I mean that the spinning wait cursor appears and I am forced to use force quit as Photoshop is no longer responding.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, turned off automatic graphics switching and nothing seems to work.
I still have to go thought all the tools if I hit the b key and the Brush was already selected. Thought the preference of the shift key would work, but know. What preference or cache do I reset or am I missing something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPSE 7; When switching from text to say clone stamp, or blur tool I get only a cross hair as opposed to the 'pixel' sized circle to see the dimensions of the work that will be affected. If I log out of Elements completely and then re-enter and go to use the clone tool, the brush 'pixel' circle dimension comes up as normal and works as it should. As soon as I go to text mode and then back to clone stamp or blur tool, I just get the cross hair and no circle dimension 'cue' ! how to go from text to clone and get the circle cue dimension instead of just a cross hair without having to log out of elements each time.

I then upgraded from Photoshop elements 9 (I think) to Photoshop elements 11. I had catalogs and pictures scattered in different places so one of the options was just too gather all of the photographs on the hard drive and start a new catalog. It worked, and so all of my pictures are under one catalog name which is perfect. The key word tag categories are listed as I had sent them up in the previous version, but none of the photos are actually labeled with their keyword tax. How can I reattach the tags to the pictures.
