I've recently upgraded to CS3 from CS1,
When using the text tool in CS1, shift+enter would give you a new line within the existing paragraph (I believe it's called a soft return?), so it keeps the leading but doesn't add the "space after paragraph". In CS3 this doesn't work and it's really screwing with my ability to create decent web page mockups.
I am dealing with text in some non-unicode encodings. The text includes the soft-hyphen character (0xAD) - which under ISO 8559-1 encoding is rendered as a hyphen.
When I paste this text into photoshop, the soft-hyphen disappears. The soft-hyphen is still there (if I copy the text and paste it back into notepad it is visible, also it shows up in the text layer's name) but it is not being rendered.
Now in Photoshop 7 the soft-hyphen renders as expected so I believe this is something caused by Photoshop's transition to Unicode in later versions (I see this 'problem' in Photoshop CS3 and CS4 - don't have CS or CS2 to test).
* Is it possible to change the type tool's behavior to the older version - i.e. to show soft-hyphen?
* Would anyone know if CS/CS2 behave like this as well?
I need soft-hyphen to be rendered because I am working with an old/legacy font which 'renders' soft-hyphen as a different glyph.
Type tool quits after return/enter in stead of start a new line. How to fix it?

At this point I am entering each line as a separate layer. Is there some way to enter my own carriage returns without creating a separate layer for each line? I am using Photoshop 9 on a PC.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just can't make it work.. I need to use QUICK SELECTION TOOL to select part of image and then cut it out and paste it exactly in the same place. But whenever I do it, that tool automatically add feather to the edge so I can't paste it in same place again!
I already turn on hardness to 100% and I don't see any other options I can alter to eliminate it.
Why is there a difference between the text from the soft fx and the text in action? If you look at the attached picture, the 3 lines look slightly different although they shouldn't. The first line was written inside the soft fx.
The second line, with an ugly outline, is the 3D text, and although it's the same font, it looks thinner here.
And the third line, which I think looks a little too soft, is with AA turned on in action.
So why can't I achieve the same look in action, as in the text soft fx?

Color feedback drops in and out. Yes I have the box checked in the settings. Sometimes it slightly works and most times it simply does nothing. Half the time I don't get color feed back and when I try to move the handle or scale, it doesn't affect the polygonal mesh at all. It's driving me crazy and I really don't want to do my facial blendshapes by hand!
I have also tried deleting my preferences, and it didn't work either.I have also tried resetting the tool. No go.
the soft edge feature of the eraser and the brush no longer work. I can go into the pallet and choose a soft edge eraser or brush, but it comes up hard edge. When I try to use the marquee box with a feather to get a soft edge, I again get a hard edge. I've used this technique a lot, so I think I'm doing the method properly. I have removed the preference files a number of times and have trashed the old Photoshop and reinstalled Photoshop 3 or 4 times,

I need it to replace the text in the instance that has multiple text lines, and not the name where the text is on it’s own. I have seen mention of using “u+000A” as a carriage return in older versions, but I can’t get it to work.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi gotta deliver some drawings. Problem is that when i move/copy/etc any Mtext/Multileader/Dimension in Autocad 2011 LT the text "thickens".
I googled the problem at first and found out that for the Mtext, i needed to set Z positition/Elevation to 0, in order for the text to return to normal. What i gotta do to fix the dimensions and multileaders.

"The following bins are corrupted: Default Library Choose recover or hit the Enter key to try and recover a backup version of the bins."
Recovering fails and I'm forced to hit cancel which let's me into the project with my media gone.
I'm working on making a really awesome pic but I'm stuck. The style I use in all of my pics is by making a new layer, changing it to color mode, then making rainbow colors with a really soft brush. Everything was going fine until I threw some text in there. Now when I paint, the text stays the same color!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.

Using the horizontal text tool I can make a text box, but no text-blinker shows up in the box and when I type no text will appear. Although, in the Layers pannel on the right side it does name the layer whatever I have typed so why won't it show on the picture? Even if you make all other layers invisible the text layer still does not show up on a blank background.

Everytime I use the text tool and want to type text, it is:
1. right aligned, and
2. cursor stays left and pushes text to the right.
All stops are added to the left of the text.
I have already reset the tool and even my preferences.
photoshop is not being able to deselect text when I am using the text-tool so I can edit more text. Here is what I mean - say you have two text layers that have been filled out. Now I want to change both of them to something else. I select the first text layer and change it's text. Now I want to move on to the next layer, I click some random tool and then click the text tool again. Is there a key command that I can hit that will make the text tool active so I can select the text on the other layer?
Also I'm using CS3.
I have working in CS5. I opened the programme in ACR to Photoshop and would like to know how I can return to ACR from Photoshop.

Why is it that when I create planes in Vanishing Point (in this case, 2 walls and a floor) and check off "Render Grids to Photoshop" and "Return 3D Layer to Photoshop" that the grids and planes almost never line up with each other? I recently purchased Photoshop CS3 Windows and installed it without problems. Upon launching PS for the first time,I was asked to enter the key or choose the 30 day trial. Activation completed successfully when I entered the key.I heard that you need to deactivate the license before moving to another PC so I went to the help menu and there is no deactivate option, only 'return e-license' and 'download e-license' options.The version on the disc is the extended edition, though the box does not mention this, so I am worried it may not be genuine.I am using XP x64 edition.

No matter what text type, style or font I use, when I'm done with one line and carriage return to the next, the cursor doesn't go completely below the first line and the second line letters are typing half way into the line above it. What I'm having to do is hit reutrn twice. I'm assuming that this is a setting somewhere that I have accidentally enabled or disabled. I believe it's a setting in CS2 because I've opened a Word document and the return works there (I was thinking it was a setting on my machine, but this only happens with CS2).
