I know that the Euphonix panel we have has an edit soft effect button. But it doesn't add the effect as well. (plus you have to hit the "NAV" button to make it accessible)
I'm trying to add a soft shadow in 3D text. I've succeeded in getting the shadow but can't find a what to soften... blur... the shadow. I m sure it's a button some where.
Why is there a difference between the text from the soft fx and the text in action? If you look at the attached picture, the 3 lines look slightly different although they shouldn't. The first line was written inside the soft fx.
The second line, with an ugly outline, is the 3D text, and although it's the same font, it looks thinner here. And the third line, which I think looks a little too soft, is with AA turned on in action.
So why can't I achieve the same look in action, as in the text soft fx?

Any time the gateway scans a directory, which has a clip that has stereo audio, Smoke hangs. Is this a bug? Specifically the file was a Canon 7D file which had audio recorded with it. The crash does not happen when we try a file without audio or a file whose audio has been converted to mono. The file was directly from the camera. Same thing happens when it is a Prores HQ file with Stereo audio.
When I add a text fx to a gap effect in the timeline. During typing I can see the axis. but after typing I cannon drag it on screen. I have to enter the editor to move it around. Am I missing something?
I have two lights in action. One spot with falloff and spread and one directional.
The directional light only show an effect on the text if I rotate it, but moving it along the Y-axis perpendicular to the text shows no changing effect.
How to get 3D Soft Shadows to work properly in Action with an ATI 5870? I'm getting massive render errors. The best way to describe it is it looks like Z buffer errors. Or in 3D when 2 polygons share the same plane. Lots of black jaggies across the whole frame.
I have a number of clips that were soft imported, then used in the paint module to remove some blemishes. I have since done a 'store local copy' on the original clips.
The painted clip still has the 'soft' indicator. How do I update the painted clip?
Is there a way to go into the history of the painted clip and replace the soft import with the local copy? Do I 'store local copy' on the painted clip?
After archiving out of 2012 SP3 and then un-unarchiving into 2012 SAP2 SP3, could i edit clips (with history)? For example, action-rendered clips, flame fx-rendered clips, etc.

I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?
Whats the dealing with importing TWs to Smoke? I have a show that's 70% keyframed with timewarps and need a way other then baking the effect to bring it into Smoke. It's comming from FCP7 and we have Automatic Duck but neither the XMLs or AAF bring anything other then the first speed of the clip. Any way to retain the keyframes?
I know we are a little behind the times, but when upgrading to Ex1, will all of the existing projects still be usable? Or do we need to "Wipe 'em All"?
The shop where I work shoots with Sony HVR z7u cameras. The small memory recording unit on the back of the camera records m2t files. Smoke does not seem to recognize these files natively. (Neither did FCP without a downloadable Sony driver). Is there a recommended workflow for dealing with m2t files?
I'm looking to import a model with materials. Is 3DS the only file format that will carry this along? That would suck for me cause my animator does not use Autodesk software. I have an obj with the material jpegs but can't seem to find find the proper wrap mode that makes it all come together. Maybe FBX is a better option.

I have png files with alphas sometimes Smoke will import them as a still frame that I can change the duration of . Other times it will import it with 23.98 time code and then I have to freeze it to extend the duration.
I just imported a bunch of 4k clips via the gateway using the backburner. Is it normal that it took about 2 minutes per frame to render? I had 36 clips, 53 000 frames in total, and it took about 8 hours to get them all in (with store local copy and proxies turned on).

Graphics import into the library with a default length of 1 frame. Is there a way to lengthen that so I don't have to zoom way in to grab the edge of the clip?
Static network, static IP address on fixed machine. Stable install been used every day for over 2 years. Come in this morning and backburner server fails to launch. Network functional as usual, checked all the usual culprits and no joy. Reinstalling SP4 now to see if that repairs links.
I have recently upgraded to Smoke 2012 sp2 and have a small issue regarding the reordering of my clips in the source area.
On 2011 when you placed clips in the source area in a specific order and saved it to the library and when you recalled it from the library it would put the clips back in exactly the same place you left them. Now in 2012 when you do that it re-orders them in some sort of chronological order.
Is there a setting that I'm not aware of that will stop doing that as I place them in a specific structure which makes sense to me and is easy to find and understand on large builds, now I'm having to sift through the clips and waste time finding what I did last and checking through versions to find the latest one.
I just installed my Smoke2013 SP2 yesterday, and today I want to restore my project. From Mr. Grant Kay tutorial, I saw there's restore button once he double click the restore folder. But I can't see that Restore button.
I have a clip that play perfectly fine in my timeline. When I export it, either as a Quicktime or image sequence, the playback stutters every few seconds; basically it double prints a frame every few seconds or something. It's extremely annoying and preventing me from a client delivery in the morning.
Where can I find some info on the process of importing Alexa material to Smoke? Is it as slow as RED material? I need to Color Correct 10 min of 2k material from that camera.

I'm testing Mocha with Smoke Advanced and have run up against a problem. When I import the corner pin data from Mocha for a mobile phone screen, there is a significant offset for each corner.
Mocha support have been very useful, and the problem is not to do with aspect ratio or frame size. The track looks perfect inside Mocha.I've followed the exact process featured in the link below.
