Is there a hotkey to add/edit a soft effect?
I know that the Euphonix panel we have has an edit soft effect button. But it doesn't add the effect as well. (plus you have to hit the "NAV" button to make it accessible)
Does this function already exist?
This has happened repeatedly for me, importing a slate with soft text from 2012 corrupts my default library. I get-
"The following bins are corrupted: Default Library Choose recover or hit the Enter key to try and recover a backup version of the bins."
Recovering fails and I'm forced to hit cancel which let's me into the project with my media gone.
I have used smoke for a few years now, and one of the things that I find frustrating is the camera controls in action.Would it be possible to have a control hotkey set-up like maya/XSI/3DS? Some other softwares allow you to choose the keyboard set-up.
Using the maya set-up:
Alt - left mouse : tumble
Alt - middle mouse : track
Alt - right mouse : dolly
This means while looking though the lens you can move the camera in any orientation, you only need to hold down the alt key and use the 3 button mouse/Wacom to navigate.
The undo hot key seems flaky. Often the Mac menu based undo works, but the option + z only works sometimes. It does something, but that's not an undo.
Is this a bug? I think ESP. In certain CFX modules...
How to bypass/disable multiple nodes without have to do it one by one ?
The other strange thing is when i think i can do it by define a new hotkey for disable/enable the bypass button, i found that everytime i change a hotkey for the bypass button, it will apply only to current node. So do i have to set hotkey for every single node ?? and of course everytime i create new cfx , the hotkey will be reset.
I'm trying to add a soft shadow in 3D text. I've succeeded in getting the shadow but can't find a what to soften... blur... the shadow. I m sure it's a button some where.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a number of clips that were soft imported, then used in the paint module to remove some blemishes. I have since done a 'store local copy' on the original clips.
The painted clip still has the 'soft' indicator. How do I update the painted clip?
Is there a way to go into the history of the painted clip and replace the soft import with the local copy? Do I 'store local copy' on the painted clip?
Why is there a difference between the text from the soft fx and the text in action? If you look at the attached picture, the 3 lines look slightly different although they shouldn't. The first line was written inside the soft fx.
The second line, with an ugly outline, is the 3D text, and although it's the same font, it looks thinner here.
And the third line, which I think looks a little too soft, is with AA turned on in action.
So why can't I achieve the same look in action, as in the text soft fx?

GAP effect will work just fine If I not using action node on the schematic in cfx.
I can track an image ok, but how do I track text contained in a Gap Effect ? I can't see any tracking options in the Text manipulation screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I add a text fx to a gap effect in the timeline. During typing I can see the axis. but after typing I cannon drag it on screen. I have to enter the editor to move it around. Am I missing something?
It isn't done until it is finished.
If I work in CFX on a shot in, say, a 60" commercial and then want to drop it into the 30" cutdown. I need to trim a couple of frames from the head to match the cutdown, if I do this gesturally, it un-renders and when I re-render, all the source material has been slipped inside CFX.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to copy an edit from one project library to anothe project library, I get the error message: Clip Mgt: Entry "..." has pending rendered video media. Deselecting entry.
How can I find out which media ist still pending render? Because everything is processed, everything has been loaded in via store local copy... The only thing I couldn' figure out is, my edit has the little lightgrey SOFT icon on it (although no clip within my edit has that icon....the only light grey icon there is in my edit is the H for clip history. so I don't know where this is coming from, and maybe it all connects together...)

I am trying to figure out how to add handle length to an edit...
so here is my detailed workflow: Footage Alexa Prores -> converted via Davinci (with LUTs) to MXF -> offline edit in avid... export as AAF (link to media)
conform in smoke (with original prores files) ... all good, BUT I want to add 12 frames handles to every shot and export the sequence as DPX for grading in davinci
I need the handles due to possible reedit on different music afterwards.... Which step i can add the handles (conform in smoke? export in smoke?)
after grading I have to go back to smoke for compositing and hope there is somehow also a automatic way of telling smoke to conform the graded DPX back to the original edit
I have a new project coming up.At the beginning, everything is supposed to be in a black and white world, just the product is supposed to be colored. And everywhere, where you place the product, the surroundings become colored too (as if being washed over with color). I already started playing around, but the result is not yet satisfying.

Trial1. create new Timeline at new resolution, copy all edits from SD TL and insert in new TL.. this doesn't work because there's a bug and all the edits reset themselves to 0 frames of head i.e. slips all the edits.
Trial2.. save edit in the library and reformat it to the new resolution, i don't know what goes wrong here but it doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem everytime i apply the axis effect on a clip in the timeline. What happens is that smoke starts loading the effect, but hangs there, and after a while a message comes up saying that due to a software error smoke must close. But the only way to close it, is only if i do force quit process through terminal. Everything else works really well though, besides this specific issue with axis effect. This by the way didn't happen with Smoke 2013 SP2, maybe a hardware compatibility issue?

The footage that i'm using is SD PAL, in DV format (.mov) files, captured through firewire through Premiere CS6. Is it a problem of the footage? GPU? or am i missing something?
My computer specs are (i'm on a hackintosh for now...):

System is installed on a 500GB SATA drive , and media storage folder of smoke is placed on a 150GB Raptor disk.
I have two lights in action. One spot with falloff and spread and one directional.
The directional light only show an effect on the text if I rotate it, but moving it along the Y-axis perpendicular to the text shows no changing effect.
I'm looking for an easy way to get a simple page fold effect on a 2D Logo. I'm playing around here in Axis with the surface set to Bicubic but I'm moving around the corners and handles and can't really achieve a realistic look. Is there something like page fold in the Avid where you can adjust the fold radius and it simply works....?
