How to use Smoke make Dark Edge Border effect. I have tried wipe, make a mask and enable the advance gradient, but not happy with the result. Is there any other method to make a Dark Edge Border effect?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI like to use TIF files because of the embedded alpha that can go along with the file. I'm having a small problem when I'm using them inside of Smoke 2013. I'm creating text files in photoshop, real basic color fill with a drop shadow, my workspace is 16bit RGB, exporting them to TIF from Photoshop and importing them into Smoke. I make sure Create Matte Container is selected and import the file into my library. When I add the file to my CFX comp i'm seeing a black edge around everything. It looks like the fill is not extending all the way to the edges of the matte. Is there something I need to do to make sure that these file comp correctly? Am I exporting them right from Photoshop?

GAP effect will work just fine If I not using action node on the schematic in cfx.
I can track an image ok, but how do I track text contained in a Gap Effect ? I can't see any tracking options in the Text manipulation screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I add a text fx to a gap effect in the timeline. During typing I can see the axis. but after typing I cannon drag it on screen. I have to enter the editor to move it around. Am I missing something?
It isn't done until it is finished.
I have a new project coming up.At the beginning, everything is supposed to be in a black and white world, just the product is supposed to be colored. And everywhere, where you place the product, the surroundings become colored too (as if being washed over with color). I already started playing around, but the result is not yet satisfying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem everytime i apply the axis effect on a clip in the timeline. What happens is that smoke starts loading the effect, but hangs there, and after a while a message comes up saying that due to a software error smoke must close. But the only way to close it, is only if i do force quit process through terminal. Everything else works really well though, besides this specific issue with axis effect. This by the way didn't happen with Smoke 2013 SP2, maybe a hardware compatibility issue?

The footage that i'm using is SD PAL, in DV format (.mov) files, captured through firewire through Premiere CS6. Is it a problem of the footage? GPU? or am i missing something?
My computer specs are (i'm on a hackintosh for now...):

System is installed on a 500GB SATA drive , and media storage folder of smoke is placed on a 150GB Raptor disk.
This has happened repeatedly for me, importing a slate with soft text from 2012 corrupts my default library. I get-
"The following bins are corrupted: Default Library Choose recover or hit the Enter key to try and recover a backup version of the bins."
Recovering fails and I'm forced to hit cancel which let's me into the project with my media gone.
I have two lights in action. One spot with falloff and spread and one directional.
The directional light only show an effect on the text if I rotate it, but moving it along the Y-axis perpendicular to the text shows no changing effect.
I'm looking for an easy way to get a simple page fold effect on a 2D Logo. I'm playing around here in Axis with the surface set to Bicubic but I'm moving around the corners and handles and can't really achieve a realistic look. Is there something like page fold in the Avid where you can adjust the fold radius and it simply works....?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a PIP in a timeline with Axis. PIP is a easy thing so I made it of course.
But the problem is When I use multiple PIPs. There's no Global axis like in Action, so I couldn't control PIPs at once. I thought make a Gap effect with axis or Container would be work, but It didn't work as I thought.
Do I have to make a mask for PIP? Is there any way to move, rotate, scale them together easily? & Axis could have only one image? In animation view, there's a Global axis and a image axis.
Kind of at my wits end with this software. Decided to give it a proper test on a job involving some wire removal and a bit of 3D comping. Every day brings hourly crashes, corrupted sequences, black frame renders, inability to archive projects, on and on. It's like every shot on this project is a minefield of troubleshooting and trying to find workarounds just to get a render complete. I'm spending easily an extra 20 hours a week just trying to overcome problems with the software.
Now I've got a sequence that I literally spent 4 hours on and just trying to open it brings smoke to a hard crash. Trying to make a cfx clip of the sequence takes half an hour to save so I've only been doing that once a day.

View 5 Replies View RelatedA quick question re bookmarks. My normal workflow involves working from one project folder on our server where all the rushes, edl's, artwork etc all reside. I just soft imported the rushes and added a bookmark to that network folder. However when I enter the conform module I have no bookmarks in that menu. Could we make the bookmarks global so that whichever module I am in in smoke I can see the same bookmarks, or at least make it a preference option?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm inside cfx where at the end of my network , i attach resize and set bit depth to 10 bit. Then i create a cfx node. The cfx node now cannot be rendered. After finish rendering, it will be back to unrendered state. The project setting itself is set to 16 bit fp. If i set that resize using the same 16 bit , then cfx clip has no problem.
