Dec 4, 2012With Autodesk Smoke v6 and existing Media Storage with few projects inside, I've recently reinstalled my Mac OSX 10.8.2 system. I had to procedure clean reinstall.While installing back Smoke v6, I asked to choose Storage folder. I checked the existing one.When I start a software, I can't see any of my old projects.Seems like Smoke doesn't see it. So, how should I restore Autodesk Media Storage with all my projects inside?

Jan 7, 2014Since I'm having so much luck already today, figured I'd post one more question. I have a camera and trackers imported from synth eyes into aciton. I used the paint node to create 1 clean plate and froze it with a mux. Now I need to combine the clean plate in action. Usually I've been trying to line up the clean frame manually to the synth eyes camera in action but it's all eyeball and no precision. Is there a smarter more precise way to align the clean frame?

The .r3d files are 5K from an Epic.
AutoDesk Smoke :: Using TIFF Files - Black Edge Around
Jan 23, 2013I like to use TIF files because of the embedded alpha that can go along with the file. I'm having a small problem when I'm using them inside of Smoke 2013. I'm creating text files in photoshop, real basic color fill with a drop shadow, my workspace is 16bit RGB, exporting them to TIF from Photoshop and importing them into Smoke. I make sure Create Matte Container is selected and import the file into my library. When I add the file to my CFX comp i'm seeing a black edge around everything. It looks like the fill is not extending all the way to the edges of the matte. Is there something I need to do to make sure that these file comp correctly? Am I exporting them right from Photoshop?

Mar 21, 2012Why is there a difference between the text from the soft fx and the text in action? If you look at the attached picture, the 3 lines look slightly different although they shouldn't. The first line was written inside the soft fx.
The second line, with an ugly outline, is the 3D text, and although it's the same font, it looks thinner here.
And the third line, which I think looks a little too soft, is with AA turned on in action.
So why can't I achieve the same look in action, as in the text soft fx?

Apr 24, 2013I have composed a scene in action that contains 3d text with a reflection layer. I animated the reflection to keep the part of the image that I want to appear on the letters in view. Everything looks ok when I step through in action or click preview, but comes out wrong when I render.
It looks like there may be some sort of timing issue, so I've checked for slip and TW problems and found none. I've also checked for transitions on other axes that might cause a problem and see none. Is this a bug?

For example, I have a string of numbers, le's say "24234" and I'd like them to change randomly over time. Second, I'd like the text to flicker on and off, but on regular intervals, such as every frame it would alternate from 0% opacity to 100% opacity. I was thinking of doing this with an expression that would simply evaluate the frame, and outout 0 or 1 depending on whether the frame is even or odd.

Toolbar (the new tab) -> text/input: none -> Load -> roll down menu to "text file" -> roll down menu to "UTF-8" -> click the text file i've created using TextEdit = nothing happens.
Have i missed something very obvious or is it broken?
In TextEdit i choose to make the text "plain" so i can save it as a UTF-8 but during the load of the textfile smoke "tells me" "Cannot open"

Jun 13, 2012a) is it possible to change the default font that gets activated for a project or sequence? Every time we add a title it defaults to "Discreet" - it would be good if it learns from past changes at least for the sequence.
b) it would be good if the default font color changes to a color that contrasts with the background when starting to type. E.g. we had a rather white scene, started typing and no text ever showed up. I then had to go back to the full text editor, change the color etc.
c) moving the color sliders in the color selector manually without a Wacom seems to slow by default. It takes forever to move to a brighter color. And using the picker is cumbersome (we do that as a work-around instead of moving the slider). The OK button for the color sliders is not very visible, sometimes leading to us clicking away without saving the newly selected color by accident.
