View 1 RepliesThe Type Tool has suddenly quit functioning. When I try to type with it, it gives me one HUGE vertical line on the screen, and will not adjust the font type size.
how to fix without me going through a total re-install?
My main plug-in will not work with Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode. It was working fine for awhile, but now it won't. I took my computer to the Apple store for them to look at it. They said that even though we are telling it to open in 32, the program is ignoring that command and opening in 64 bit, thereby causing my plug-in not to work.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been using CS3 forever with few problems. All of the sudden, today it quit opening images. The program loads and opens without any problem, but I can't open any images. I have rebooted about 5 times and disconnected all plug-in equipment (ipod, printer, etc.) Can anyone tell me how to fix this??
I found a thread on this topic in the Mac forum, but it hasn't helped me. The problem there seemed to be images on a disk, but the images I'm trying to open are on my harddrive.
CS3 Extended, on Vista Ultimate,
Was working fine, then one day went to edit a file and got a message saying could not open due to program error.
I have reset preferences and turned version cue off, but still nothing works.
I have previewed the "flattened" image in brava, and in the open console of adobe, so i can see the file is there.
I have reinstalled adobe, but still nothing.
I have tried saving new images and opening them, but they will not!
I have PSE 8 running on my dell computer with windows 8. I have been using the program for about one month and two days ago I tried to add a dell printer. I have removed the printer from my computer and PSE still won't open. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still no luck.
I try to open to edit opening via the program and it says that it is launching but it never opens. If I try to open PSE via a picture (right click, open with Photoshop) it gives me an error message "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"
Why is Bridge CS6 suddenly slow to open files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased CS5.5 extended about 3 weeks ago and all was working fine. Just yesterday Photoshop started crashing whenever I try to open files. I've deleted preferences several times, validated my fonts, restarted my Mac, etc. all to no avail. Photoshop has become useless to me and it's part of how I make my living. InDesign seems to work OK but I haven't tried Illustrator yet.
Here is last night's crash report (half the time it crashes with no report).

My 8 core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro has 10 GB RAM and a blank 100 GB scratch disk. Photoshop is always quick. Has been for years. Suddenly today, Photoshop is slow like molasses to open & save files. Lots of progress bars and wait cursors. Everything else on the Mac is fine. It boots quickly & normally, and other apps are happy. My boot drive, a clean installed Mountain Lion system, says S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified. In Activity Monitor, a process with ID # 0, Kernel Task, was using 700 to 800 MB RAM, while another process, mds, with ID # 44, is using 350 MB RAM.
I should add that I booted from a backup system and its copy of Photoshop was also doing the same thing. In addition, a high level troubleshooter on Apple Discussions informed me that my present level of 500 MB RAM for Kernel Task is normal. So all I know is Photoshop is suddenly slow.
This morning I was editing a photo with Paintshop x5. I rotated it; adjusted levels, and saved. Fine; then I went to resize it to make a smaller version for email. I suddently get a message from Windows (7) saying the program has stopped and that Windows will shut it down and there will be a message as to what might be the problem. Well, it shut it down; no message. Now I can't start up Paintshop x5; it stays open for a few seconds, then I get the same message.
Since it was working fine, I assume something got corrupted? Something I can remove? I am NOT looking forward to having to reinstall the program for no apparent reason.
WIndows 7 64bit; Dell Vostro 270, i3 3GHZ, 4 gig ram.
When I right click on a photo in LR3 and click on 'edit in Photoshop CS4', it opens the dialogue box that it has always opened: 'This version of Lightroom may require Camera Raw version 6.5 to be fully compatible,' or something to that effect. I have never needed to worry about that, and have always been able to just click on OK and it has worked anyway, however suddenly it doesn't.
So I checked (just in case the issue was my version of Camera Raw) and I am running Camera Raw version 5.70.213
So I tried to update it to 6.5. I downloaded it (and the Adobe installer manager which it seemed to want me to install), but when I try to install 6.5 I get a message: 'This is not required'.So one message tells me it is required, and another won't allow it to install and says it is not required.
I don't seem to be able to install the latest version of Camera Raw (doesn't bother me as I don't use it - I use LR, except if it is causing this problem), and I have the problem of being unable to edit any of my LR catalogue in CS4.
when I try to open the program I get this message:
The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000034) Click on OK to terminate the application.
This may sound like a stupid question but I have been doing a bunch of work on different photos over the last few days and every thing has been working fine.
Today I had the program open and was working on a project with the eraser tool and I had to leave to answer the phone. When I left the tool was working fine while I was away from the computer it kicked into sleep mode. When I came back and went to start where I left off the eraser tool would do nothing.
I have since garbaged that whole project, restarted my computer reset all the tools you name it and I can not get that or the paint brush to work.
The eraser tool will make a very fine scratch no matter how I set it.
What happened while I was away from my desk????
I do not have any kids or anyone else that would have messed something up.
Does anyone have any ideas, is it something simple or should I try reloading the program?
I'm getting constant and repeated crashes in OSX Lion 10.7.3 on an i7 iMac w/ PS CS5 v12.1 - Crashes are 100% repeatable.
I don't have to do anything at all other than open the program, and quit. Then = CRASH! (I've searched and read similar reports of this from years ago but this is all current 2012 hardware/software) Crash log here -

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Photoshop CS3 on Mac version 10.7.5. Every time I open PS I get the error message "adobe updater quit unexpectedly". Once I click out all I see is a white box for "Adobe Web Suite Premium CS3" that is blank. It can only be minimized - not closed. Everything else in PS is greyed out and unusable.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAdobe Service Manager CS5.5 seems to hang after I use Photoshop. Fine with Indesign etc. (even after closing photoshop).
This prevents my iMac from shutting down. How do I switch it off / disable it or repair it in OSX7?
Recently, when I save PhotoShop 5 photo files, they no longer create image thumbnails, just pixelated squares. Is there an adjustment to correct this? I am running CS5 on an iMac with OS 10.75.
I am creating photo files from scanned b&w negatives layered with colored scans of aged papers and saving them as tif files for printing.
If I try to use the hints, it takes me to the sign in box. When I try to sign in, the program hangs up. I can not cancel or quit the program. I have to use a Force Quit. It appears that I am locked out of some of the features unless I am signed in. Regardless, I would like to use the hints as this program is new to me. I have also tried to sign in by clicking Sign In in the upper tool bar. Same problem.

"Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)

which may give a clue. Of course the error report contains a volume of other info too.how to solve and get back to using the application?I'm on a MacBookPro8,2 using OS X 10.7.5.
Updated Windows. Disabled antivirus. Quit all other applications. Error 1935 - an error occured during the installation of assembly component. When the installation process rolls back it deletes the DVD drive as well!!! Seems it is impossible to install this program? No matter whatI do, error 1935 every time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI having trouble with closing documents and even quitting Photoshop CC. I tried the menu, shortcuts and the close button on the document frame.
Photoshop reacts to the shortcut by marking "file"/"Photoshop" in the menu when i push command+w or commmand+q but nothing happens.
I have to force quit photoshop each time. All other buttons work exept when i try to delete history states in the history panel. Nothing happens when pushing the "delete current state" button.
On my current system and on my previous system smart sharpen runs PAINFULLY slow. It happened in CS3, CS5, and now with CC it often causes the Photoshop to stop responding and I have to force quit.
I currently have:
MacBook Pro Dual 2.5 GHz i7
8 GB 1333 DDR3 Ram
dual SSDs running Raid 0
OS 10.8.4
The rest of Photoshop seems to run OK, it's just Smart Sharpen that bogs down I'm usually working on 16 bit files that have gotten to be around 800MB-1.2GB by the time I get to sharpening.
I installed cs5 and used it without problems. I downloaded a trial version of cs6, and when it expired, I get a message that say cs5 has quit unexpoectedliy everytime I try to open it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it still will not open.
