I have PSE 8 running on my dell computer with windows 8. I have been using the program for about one month and two days ago I tried to add a dell printer. I have removed the printer from my computer and PSE still won't open. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still no luck.
I try to open to edit opening via the program and it says that it is launching but it never opens. If I try to open PSE via a picture (right click, open with Photoshop) it gives me an error message "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"
I've been using CS3 forever with few problems. All of the sudden, today it quit opening images. The program loads and opens without any problem, but I can't open any images. I have rebooted about 5 times and disconnected all plug-in equipment (ipod, printer, etc.) Can anyone tell me how to fix this??
I found a thread on this topic in the Mac forum, but it hasn't helped me. The problem there seemed to be images on a disk, but the images I'm trying to open are on my harddrive.
I purchased CS5.5 extended about 3 weeks ago and all was working fine. Just yesterday Photoshop started crashing whenever I try to open files. I've deleted preferences several times, validated my fonts, restarted my Mac, etc. all to no avail. Photoshop has become useless to me and it's part of how I make my living. InDesign seems to work OK but I haven't tried Illustrator yet.
Here is last night's crash report (half the time it crashes with no report).
My 8 core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro has 10 GB RAM and a blank 100 GB scratch disk. Photoshop is always quick. Has been for years. Suddenly today, Photoshop is slow like molasses to open & save files. Lots of progress bars and wait cursors. Everything else on the Mac is fine. It boots quickly & normally, and other apps are happy. My boot drive, a clean installed Mountain Lion system, says S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified. In Activity Monitor, a process with ID # 0, Kernel Task, was using 700 to 800 MB RAM, while another process, mds, with ID # 44, is using 350 MB RAM.
I should add that I booted from a backup system and its copy of Photoshop was also doing the same thing. In addition, a high level troubleshooter on Apple Discussions informed me that my present level of 500 MB RAM for Kernel Task is normal. So all I know is Photoshop is suddenly slow.
This morning I was editing a photo with Paintshop x5. I rotated it; adjusted levels, and saved. Fine; then I went to resize it to make a smaller version for email. I suddently get a message from Windows (7) saying the program has stopped and that Windows will shut it down and there will be a message as to what might be the problem. Well, it shut it down; no message. Now I can't start up Paintshop x5; it stays open for a few seconds, then I get the same message.
Since it was working fine, I assume something got corrupted? Something I can remove? I am NOT looking forward to having to reinstall the program for no apparent reason.
When I right click on a photo in LR3 and click on 'edit in Photoshop CS4', it opens the dialogue box that it has always opened: 'This version of Lightroom may require Camera Raw version 6.5 to be fully compatible,' or something to that effect. I have never needed to worry about that, and have always been able to just click on OK and it has worked anyway, however suddenly it doesn't.
So I checked (just in case the issue was my version of Camera Raw) and I am running Camera Raw version 5.70.213
So I tried to update it to 6.5. I downloaded it (and the Adobe installer manager which it seemed to want me to install), but when I try to install 6.5 I get a message: 'This is not required'.So one message tells me it is required, and another won't allow it to install and says it is not required.
I don't seem to be able to install the latest version of Camera Raw (doesn't bother me as I don't use it - I use LR, except if it is causing this problem), and I have the problem of being unable to edit any of my LR catalogue in CS4.
I recently had to have a new hard drive and motherboard installed on my PC, which is running Win 7. I didn't have any problems at all with Elements prior to this.
I haven't opened PSE 12 for a few days.
My normal workflow is:
Open RAW file, edit, then separately save PSD and JPG in Irfanview (maybe an odd choice but it's familiar and easy to use).
Just recently I've noticed a problem in Irfanview when entering and saving IPTC data, in that suddenly I'm told the file isn't found, when I try to open it the image area is black, and all I can do is delete it. This is possibly unrelated to my PSE 12 problem, however each time the only way to get a usable copy of the JPG is to re-open the PSD in Elements and re-save as a JPG.
Today, in Elements, when I go to Save As (my usual choice) I go through the usual process but when I check on my hard drive the JPG hasn't been saved.
all of a sudden, the display in PSE11 is so big on my Mac that I can't see the right-hand screen components, including the layers or effects. I looked all through the preferences and can't figure out how to re-size the display back to the default. I can't even minimize the display enough to grab the corner and pull the window in a little. Is there any way to re-set the display to the default so I can see the layers and effects, without reinstalling the program?
My brushes suddenly won't work at 100% opacity. The opacity will change if I change the slider but never actually reaches 100%. For instance if I'm using red one click will get me pink like I'm at 20% opacity, it will get darker as I increase the opacity slider but never quite reaches 100%. At 100% it is still a shade of pink.I have to click like 10 times to get it red. Everything else works fine, pencil, eraser, etc. I have checked all my settings and can't figure it out.
I was creating Jpeg images in Photoshop for eBay listings by opening my photo file, cutting out the image and pasting it to a new white canvas in the size I wanted. Now, suddenly when I try to do the cut and paste, all I get is a blank canvas with no image pasted into it.
All of a sudden my clickable links for Elements 5 are not working, even from the program menu. The only way to access it is if I right click on a photo and choose Elements 5 as my opening program. I am worried that if I do an unistall/reinstall that Elements 5 will no longer be compatible with my Windows 7.
Elements 7. Without my opening, moving, renaming or otherwise molesting them, 2/3s of the photos in one of my two catalogs have suddenly gone missing. I have exhausted all the trouble shooting info I can find online and have tried the reconnecting procedures, optimized the catalog, repaired the catalog, rebuilt the thumbnails and uninstalled and reinstalled elements 7 all to no avail. The missing files, a mix of jpeg and nef totaling 272, are grouped in one block starting from the first photos I ever downloaded two years ago except for one which is a recent download. Elements 7 win xp 1G ram.
the logos i created are suddenly no longer editable, neither paths nor text! i can select each element with the selection tool but anchor points don't show up so i can't edit them, and i can't select the text itself to edit it. nothing's locked, i've ungrouped everything, i can see the specs for everything. yesterday i used save to web a couple of times. today i started recreating the logos and it happened again after i exported (not save to web) once or twice. and today i can select the paths, but they're no longer a single path but a tracing, as if it was bitmapped and then traced. but i haven't rasterized or traced. and the type is still unselectable and uneditable as type. it happened again after updating. i have since reinstalled and reupdated, but i still have to re-create all four logos - and it's possible it could happen again! as it is, one "unrasterized" version of the logos allows me to select the paths but doesn't show the anchor points - and still won't let me edit the text.
Windows Explorer set to open image files with PSE11, but when I double click on image in WE it launches PSE11, but I then need to click on Open tab in PSE11 to get it into work window. PSE10 did not have this problem
I have both Photoshop CS5 and Elements 7 on my laptop, which uses OS Windows 7 64-bit. Recently I was trying to use CS5 and it keeps freezing on me and giving me an "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" error. Since CS5 wouldn't work, I tried switching to Elements 7. When I double-clicked the icon, I got nothing but the swirly blue 'wait' circle. It won't open at all unless I try to open a PSD file, then the editor screen pops up for just a moment and I get another "has stopped working" error.
The only thing I've recently installed was an Intuous 5 tablet. Thinking that might be the problem, I tried uninstalling it but not only does the problem still persist, I can't re-install my new tablet because the installation software uses Adobe Projector and I get a, wait for it, "Adobe Projecter has stopped working" error. All my other programs are working fine, it's only the Adobe programs that keep giving me errors. I've tried restarting the computer and uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop. My system is fully updated, as are both programs. The error I get in the event log is this:
I was shown, and have read that to do this I have to right click on the file and select 'Open in Adobe raw' but do not have this option appear when I right click.I am using Elements 11.
I like to open the same RAW a second time on Photoshop 11.
Earlier in the Day it works to open the same file it a second time. I can open the Same Raw twice with different Setting. You know what i mean?
Since a few Minutes, it don't work. I reboot the Computer an Start Photoshop11 again. But i cannot open the same RAW twice. The Camera RAW Tool doesn't start if i like to open the Same file. I also cannot open the Same JPG twice.
I have two copies of a regular Photoshop CS6, both activated. They have worked fine for a long time. But suddenly the copy on my laptop has a different start up splash screen and is now asking me to login for a trial license for Photoshop CS6 extended. It also has a 3D-menu it never had.
What happened? I did not install anything? Did something go wrong on the last update? But more important, how do I get back to my activated Photoshop CS6 non extended?
Photoshop has been acting a bit strange. When I open it, I get about a 2 to3 second white screen before Photoshop finally loads. That's new.
The only changes I have made was to install a new 2T drive, copy over information from two smaller drives and remove them. These are strictly storage drives and have nothing to do with C drive or scratch.
I also have had an unscheduled reset to defaults occur recently. Finally PS persists in unchecking Open CL.
