Mar 13, 2012I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.
Photoshop :: PDF Import Suddenly Adds Tone To White
Aug 7, 2012I've been receiving the same basic files from a client for a few years now. The Illustrator (15.10.) file is saved as an Acrobat (10.1.3) PDF then opened in Photoshop (12.1 x64).
In the art is a 50% grey blur like shadow that's some imported raster shape. That blur is over the artboard, with no further tone, color or layers beneath it, so, theoretically, it's on white. Up until this current set of files i'd have no problems importing the pdf in Photoshop, flattening and saving, the blur would transition to white and everything was good. But now, even though when still layered it shows the white to be 0/0/0/0 in cmyk, as soon as I flatten it, that white area is now 0/0/0/3.
I've gone through the Illustrator file and cannot find an new elements, and when I take a previous PDF who's tif file is fine, and open that pdf in Photoshop, I get the same addition of tone. So this tells me something has changed in Photoshop, be it a setting or preference that's been altered.

Mar 21, 2013I am suddenly unable to import my images using LR4. Each night I download my cards using a card reader using LR4. I use a card reader and copy and convert to DNG. Suddenly tonight I keep getting a message that my files were not copied because they can't be read. I have tried using multiple cards, have used different readers. None of it makes a difference. I simply can't move my images off my cards anymore.
The only thing different I did yesterday, and I'm not sure if it made a difference, was to create a new destination folder by right clicking on my list on the right of the screen. I did two different sessions yesterday and I wanted the images in different folders. I right clicked on the folder from my first download, select create a new folder, and imported there. Those images downloaded but I can't do anymore.
I have no clue where to start in troubleshooting this. I thought it was the card, but none of my cards work. I thought it was the card reader, but my brand new one won't work.I am thinking it is something within LR.

I take volleyball photos and use the burst often The files are numbered properly by the camera but PSE seems to get them mixed up. When I import and renamer them PSE thakes them in the order they are shown and they are then renumbered out of order causind many shots to be out of order. I have never had this problem before. I have been using PSE 6 up thru 10 now and this is the first time I have had this happen. Last season I wasusing PSE9 and all my bursts sequences are in purfect order.

In the import dialogue, when you click on a device from which to import, the "busy" indicator comes on and never stops, but no progress is made to returning control to the user so you can make your other selections within the import dialogue. This started happening last week, and I rebooted the computer and it went away. It's back now and is not responding to rebooting.
I have tried uninstalling LR and reinstalling, and I've tried deleting the preferences file, with no luck on either. I don't know what to do next.
