Lightroom :: Import Images - Import Module Freezes For A Few Minutes?
Mar 13, 2012I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.

Aug 10, 2012This is a new phenomenon, and we've been using LR for more than a year without issue.
we are running LR 3.6, 64 bit version, on Windows 7 home edition SP1 (x64)
6GB memory, 800GB disk free on C:
In the import dialogue, when you click on a device from which to import, the "busy" indicator comes on and never stops, but no progress is made to returning control to the user so you can make your other selections within the import dialogue. This started happening last week, and I rebooted the computer and it went away. It's back now and is not responding to rebooting.
I have tried uninstalling LR and reinstalling, and I've tried deleting the preferences file, with no luck on either. I don't know what to do next.

Jul 1, 2012Lr 3.6 & Vista When trying to import images to Lr 3.6, Lr freezes--it seems to be fighting with the previous screen (of the last set of images) against the screen that shows the images about to be imported, and I can't seem to un-block either screen. The tabs can't be operated, and I can't close the application either. What do I need to do to unfreeze or unblock this problem? This has occurred on both my Laptop and Desktop.

It will export and entire catalog, but not single photos. When I attempt to export a single file, it will simply stop, and I have to force a shut down. I've tried rebooting my PC, creating a new catalog and resetting the preferences folder. Is there anything I can do?!

Feb 16, 2012I'm having a problem exporting slides to video using the Slideshow tab in Lightroom 3. I have a folder of images that I am trying to export to video. The folder contains 290 or so images. I have successfully exported folders with more and less images before, so I know that the number of images is not the problem.
When I export the folder of images to video, Lightroom will consistently freeze on the last frame and refuse to do any more work or complete the action. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to this occuring, as I have closed all other programs to free up as much memory as possible, rebooted my machine, and restarted Lightroom. I have used identical settings to export other folders with success. FWIW, this same bug affects LR4 beta.
I'm using a Macbook Pro with a 2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM.

Apr 28, 2013Some time ago Lightroom started freezing, it didn't matter too much what screen was involved. I'd be editing a photo or even doing something outside of lightroom and lightroom would become unresponsive and wouldn't display the current image etc.
It would allow you to close it, however the process would stay open in the task manager. No matter how one tries to close the tree or process, it totally ignores these requests and requires a reboot to resume work. This also happens while using photoshop with lightroom open - the two programs freezing in tandem.
I have tried doing memory checks on the drive with no problem showing, I have run registry cleaning / ccleaner and so on. There is no spyware or viruses operating. The reliability monitor does not show these crashes. I am unaware of anything that was installed or uninstalled or when this specifically started happening.
There have been a few driver power state failure blue screens while using lightroom (although nowhere near as many as the simple freezes). Unable to diagnose the problem with this I uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom. I have tried both 4.4 and the new 5 in the hope that maybe something was fixed. My display drivers I am pretty sure are up to date also.

I recently purchased Lightroom 5.2 only to discover that when I use the spot edit tool that it freezes when i use this tool as a brush. It starts off smooth, but after brushing across my area i want to clone/heal, Lightroom seems to freeze up, and the spot edit tool is unusable. I can lift my pen off the tablet and a few seconds later Lightroom comes back, but the tablet is basically unusable to me. The mouse works perfectly fine.

Oct 4, 2013I am running windows 7 64 bit. LR 4 worked fine. LR5 has the following (main) issues/bugs: Crashes when help - about system is clicked.
Freezes on keyword changes and will not refresh or change keywords with newly selected image. Sometimes fixes with waiting a long time, sometimes only with restart of the program or optimization of database.Does not allow files to be rotated in full view, only in grid view.
With the upgrade to 5.2 I hoped the above would be corrected. They have not, and now, as an added 'feature' I also have:During the same session, a previously exported image is re-exported with a new export in place of one or more of the newer exports. This happens despite the filmstrip or grid view being in sync on choices and when I am certain that previously exported image is not selected in the current export.
Further, the program does seem quite sluggish at times, though I have the program and database on seperate drives. I am thinking or will change over to working in previews to resolve that issue, meanwhile, the other issues are still in play.

The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
Lightroom :: Why Doesn't Auto Import Actually Import Images Into Catalog
May 19, 2012I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.

Dec 21, 2011I use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.

Same problem. I can view from Windows Explorer or Irfan View. If I try to import from other source, I can see the folders but when I open the folder I get an error message that says no items match your search. I need to get this figured out as I'm a sports photographer and need to get 6 games processed and posted.

i don't convert to DNG.
LR4, allthough what i'm reffering to appears with all versions.
when i open the import dialog box, and going to the location of the CR2 files i would like to import, i see on screen a different version/look of the image than after import.
meaning, i see what i interpet as a "Jpeg" version of the CR2 file when i'm in the import dialog box.but when everything is imported into my catalog, when i look on the same file it looks much different. (both in library and develop)
i'm not applying any develop settings upon import.only my metadata and maybe a few keywords.

Dec 11, 2011Is there a way that when first importing from the camera raw files, to see the image in the Import mode, rather than "No preview available"? This is when first starting the Import process. All.jpg files do have the image displayed so you can see what it is. Lightroom 3.5 Win 7 64-bit.
