Photoshop :: CS3 - Adobe Updater Quit Unexpectedly

Nov 20, 2013

I'm running Photoshop CS3 on Mac version 10.7.5. Every time I open PS I get the error message "adobe updater quit unexpectedly". Once I click out all I see is a white box for "Adobe Web Suite Premium CS3" that is blank. It can only be minimized - not closed. Everything else in PS is greyed out and unusable.

As I finished working on some new pictures and started working on a slideshow the application quit and asked me if I wanted to upgrade again, as I did that when the application started again the folder of the images I was working on was not there any more. How can I retrieve this again? Did I loose the images and the work I did on them?

Photoshop :: Error / Photoshop Quit Unexpectedly

Feb 18, 2013

Photoshop has been crashing for me for about three weeks now. I can't recall installing anything new on my Macbook Pro or making any substantial changes to any software, etc. PS crashes upon launch, while I'm working on a file (resizing images, applying filters, etc.). I work with templated images, so it's become a race against the clock to get everything in order and saved before PS crashed.

I have CS2, and just tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same problem. I've copied-and-pasted the 'Photoshop Quit Unexpectedly' error details below.

Process:         Adobe Photoshop CS2 [9657]
Path:            /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe Photoshop CS2.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop CS2
Identifier:      com.adobe.Photoshop

Photoshop :: Error / Photoshop Has Quit Unexpectedly

Jul 3, 2013

I keep getting "Photoshop has quit unexpectedly" and loosing all my work. It happens a lot, and with no recover work feature I am getting pretty frustrated. I have lost hours of work. Many things seem to cause the crashes, there are some things I know of, and so avoid, but sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. See below for links to the latest 3 crash logs:

[URL]

is the software really this unstable? I'm sure crashes can be caused by third party items such as fonts, custom shapes, styles etc etc But I seem to encounter this behavior on my work computer, home computer, home laptop with no consistency.

Photoshop :: CC Updater For CS6 Not Working?

Nov 8, 2013

Just got a notice that there's an update available for PS CS6 through the cloud. It churns and rumbles for several seconds and then tells me there's an error. See... for details. The details don't tell me anything I understand. (U44M1P7) Then clicking 'see details' takes me to a folder of log files that are all Greek to me.

Ironically, the description for the upgrade in the cloud window says its for 'bug fixes'... Looks to me like the 'bug fixer' is bugged itself! Are some of the government web contractors/programmers working for Adobe now?

Photoshop :: Stop Updater

Jan 11, 2009

I just installed the update for Photoshop CS4 and started removing CS3 from my computer. I deactivated CS3 then used Add and Delete Programs to proceed. Instead I got a window that says I must first stop Adobe Updater from running but I can't figure how to do that and I can no longer go back to CS3 to see if I can find it there. What do I do now?

Photoshop :: CS2 Updater And IE7 Beta 3

Aug 11, 2006

Recently the updater on my version of CS2 started telling me that there was no internet connection, and to check my firewall and connections. Having recently installed a new firewall I spent some time checking that out, together with various other pieces of protective software. Despite ensuring that the CS2 applications (including the updater EXE) had the necessary permissions, I still wasn't able to automatically access the Adobe updates.

After puzzling for a day or so, I checked back on installations and changes to my PC over the previous couple of weeks, and realised that I'd started to try out Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, at about the same time as I'd installed the new firewall. After removing the IE7 update, and returning to IE6, the Adobe updater started to function again.

I did a quick search to see if anyone else had posted regarding this, but couldn't find anything, so thought I let you know in case anyone else is thinking of installing Beta 3. I have emailed Microsoft to make them aware.

Photoshop :: 'Updater' Folder

Nov 3, 2005

when using CS2 (and possibly previous versions, I can't remember) there is a folder titled 'Updater' that is automatically created everytime PS is opened. Is there a setting that I can change that will prevent this from happening, or maybe just change the path to which the folder is created.

Photoshop :: AAM Updater And Windows 8 Updates

Oct 22, 2013

On Oct 20 I updated Photoshop CC, and during the update it asked me if it could install an updater to monitor my CC apps. I allowed this to happen. Two hours later, Win 8 tried to update and failed for the first time, giving me a message that Windows could not configure features. I figured it was the newly installed monitor from Adobe that caused the problem so I found the file and disabled it. The file's name is AAM Updater 1.0. A couple of hours later, Windows updated itself with a huge update. I have left the Updater disabled to avoid having the problem again.

Is AAM Updater a necessity for keeping Photoshop updated or active? Do I have to have it running in the background ALL the time? If so, and if it prevents Windows from updating, how can I work around the problem?

Photoshop :: Updater Runs Each Time I Start

Aug 24, 2008

I'm using Photoshop CS2 and recently installed it on my new Vista system. During normal use, I log in to Windows as a non-administrator, as recommended for security purposes.

Each time I launch Photoshop, it wants to check for updates, and asks for administrator privileges to do so. This is very annoying, first because I then have to enter my password for the admin account each time, and second because I don't need to check for updates every single time I run the program.

I can instruct Windows to run photoshop.exe as an administrator each time it runs, which fixes the annoying problem of it checking for updates, but it still means I have to enter my administrator password each time I want to run Photoshop. Surely there is a good solution to this problem? I'd be happy if I could just instruct Photoshop once and for all to "do not check for updates". I have this option set and it seems to work when I run it as an administrator but when I run it as a non-privileged user, it still insists on checking for updates.

Photoshop :: CMYK Color Values Change Unexpectedly

Jul 16, 2013

I'm working in Photoshop CS 5.5 on a Mac, and I want to apply a specific CMYK color to a selection in an image. I create the color with the values C=0, M=100, Y=100, K=10 and add it to my color swatches. Then I select the section of the image where I want to apply the new color and fill it with the paint bucket. The color fills the section just fine and life is good. But then when I roll over the section with the eyedropper to double-check the CMYK values in the Info window, it shows that they've inexplicably shifted to C=9, M=100, Y=100, K=1.

Photoshop Elements :: Create Catalog In New PC / When Old PC Crashed Unexpectedly

Dec 20, 2013

My laptop recently died before I was unable to do a backup of the PSE 9 catalog.  I thought I was covered, however, since I do regular backups of my total system.  In reviewing the backup data though, I discovered that I had copies of all of my pictures -- but the backup tool that I was using was NOT copying the PSE catalog file.  Bottom line, I'm now missing probably 15+ years of catalog information......

Someone has told me that they believe they can pull some information off the damaged disk of the old PC.  If this is possible, what file(s) should I ask them to try and recover -- and where would it likely be located?

Windows 7 OSPSE 9Catalog was not backup prior to system crash. I do not recall file structure of where photos were stored -- but I do have back up copies of all pictures (now stored on my new laptop)

Photoshop :: PS7 Has Quit Working?

Dec 2, 2004

This may sound like a stupid question but I have been doing a bunch of work on different photos over the last few days and every thing has been working fine.

Today I had the program open and was working on a project with the eraser tool and I had to leave to answer the phone. When I left the tool was working fine while I was away from the computer it kicked into sleep mode. When I came back and went to start where I left off the eraser tool would do nothing.

I have since garbaged that whole project, restarted my computer reset all the tools you name it and I can not get that or the paint brush to work.

The eraser tool will make a very fine scratch no matter how I set it.
What happened while I was away from my desk????
I do not have any kids or anyone else that would have messed something up.

Does anyone have any ideas, is it something simple or should I try reloading the program?
