Here is the problem signature when they crash.

Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine.
OS: vista 64bit (all latest updates)
nvidia 8800gts 512 (driver 180.48)
8 gb RAM + latest mobo bios
It was working totally fine then WHAM! I noticed it first when i minimized it to the taskbar to look for some other files on my desktop. now it suddenly doesn't want to start. the 'only' thing is that the pc went into hibernation while i was at lunch a few times this week (can't see that having an effect)
I start it up and it crashes +/- after 8 seconds. EVERY time.
- Tried using the "run as admin" = didn't work (tried it just in case)
- tried changing a few settings in nvidia control panel = nada!
- once i got it open within the 8 seconds, I turned off openGL completly = nada!
- I've used the "DisallowOpenGLWindows_OFF.reg" just in case and that doesn't work either. (its a pretty recent GFX card)
all other cs4 apps (master suite) are working fine!
this exact same thing happened just before i reinstalled vista x64 about a month ago.
I removed my nVidia Display drivers in safe mode and reinstalled, the problem persist. I reset my PS settings... same problem. It works only in Photoshop 32bits.

I Have Photoshop CS6 Extended (on Windows 7 - 64bit).
Â
But it does not open my .psd files, only if I run Photoshop CS6 and go File > Open > "and then open the file", it will open, but If I go to the file it self it does not recognize CS6 as the default program or to open it. It tells me it cannot find a program to open the .psd file with. I have tried several times to set the Default Program but it is not even there and if I click on "browse" to find Photoshop and click "open" it does not open or show Photoshop in the Default Programs.
Â
Now I accidently clicked on coreldraw and I don't want my .psd files opening with coreldraw! because I hardly use coreldraw, I only needed it for my studies. When I had CS5 it worked and opened fine, with CS6 the .psd files just don't find Photoshop.how can I fix this so that my .psd files get recognized?
I recently bought the CS4 Design Master Suite and it includes CS4 Photoshop Extended. I've used it several times and I like it more than CS3, the differences aren't drastic but they make a big difference (in a good way).
So I'm using it the other day and it suddenly closes within a minute of opening a file. No warning, no error message, it just closes. I think maybe I accidentally clicked close or somehow ended the program... nope, I restart it and it does the same thing. So then I assume it's a faulty file...nope, it still closes itself within a minute with whatever file I open.
I've contacted Adobe customer support, but they keep referring me to the CS3 photoshop troubleshooting page, even WHEN I explicity list in the questionnaire that my woes are related to CS4...
I need to troubleshoot printing in cs6 photoshop extended. I have printed a lot but it started crashing yesterday. Toshiba - All-In-One 16gb 64 bit Windows 7 home premium. video driver is up to date. I have uninstalled/reinstalled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt crashes before it even finished loading. I haven't even gotten the program to work once. Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled. I have no printer, and I'm using Vista 64.
This is what it says.

I know Windows 7 is not officially supported, but that's the point of software testing - to find bugs.
OS: Windows 7 32bit, build 7057.

Problem: Any operation from the "3D" menu results in Photoshop crashing. (Module was C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS4Plug-ins3D EnginesPhotoshop3DEngine.8BI)
Problem with AdobeOwl.dll according to debug report. Also Variations not working.
View 7 Replies View Related I've upgraded to CorelDraw X6 but I need the files I make to be openable in Coreldraw 10. When saving I use the drop down box and choose the option for 10 and if they are opened again in X6 before they are opened in 10 they are fine, but when these files are opened in 10 they crash and the file gets wiped (when opened again it's just a blank page).
A not so obvious box that needs ticking? An option I have missed somewhere?
Is it because the version i have is 64bit? Or is it just not possible to downsave files properly anymore, is 10 just too old now?
I've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.
I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.
I have had Window 7 64 bit operating system put on my computer. Will I get the benefits of additional Ram on Photoshop CS6 Extended?

View 15 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS6 (64bit), when using the brush tool (with a brush with pressure sensitivity activated), I quite often get a line drawn at the max width selected, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. Everything goes back to normal after I start drawing another line, and happens again after a few lines. It's quite random. Â
Â
I don't have this problem in any other software (Illustrator CS6 64bit, Painter XII, Sketchbook Pro, Zbrush, ...). I have already checked and I've found some other users on other forums with the same problem.
One example, with a picture of the problem: [URL] Another one, exact same problem: [URL] Some of those users seem to have solved their problem by installing an old driver (6.1.5r3), but they had that problem with Intuos TABLETS in the first place, not a Cintiq 24HD... I have tried that, but unfortunately the driver is not compatible with the Cintiq 24HD.
 Â
To test this out: I've been able to reproduce the problem 90% of the times I've tried. if I keep the pen at 1 inch from the display so that it's still recognized by the screen but it's not drawing, then wiggle it a bit, and then I slowly move to the screen and tap it (as if I was starting a line with very low pressure), the problem appears and it makes a large dot, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. As I said the test doesn't work every time, but almost.
 Â
This is an image of what happens when I try and make dots in Photoshop. These are done trying to push the pen with the same (low) pressure. The big ones are from when the issue appears: [URL]Â
Â
I have tried the pressure test in the Wacom utility software and it seems to work fine, it never jump to full even when I try the method I've just described. In the diagnostic page of the Wacom utility software the pressure is always correct, even when in Photoshop there's the brush sensitivity issue.
Â
note: I've already tried to completely re-install my computer + the Adobe software + the lastest wacom driver for my Cintiq 24HD, and the problem is still the same.
Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
Â
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
Â
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
Â
So, what are my options?
Â
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
Â
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
I'm happy with the NX version, but if I want to upgrade to XT, how do I do it? I looked on the upgrade options for XT and upgrading from NX, is not there.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently have a copy of Photoshop CS4 running on my desk top (ordered this online so I don't have a disk). My desktop has the 32 bit version of Windows Vista. I also have a new laptop running the 64 bit version of Vista - with 4G of memory. I wanted to install CS4 on my laptop so I downloaded the trial version and then entered the serial number from my licensed copy to the version on my new laptop.
So, this is where the confustion lies, when I open my new laptop version it asks if I want to upgrade to the extended version - I don't - but it has a green check mark by my license number so it seems to be o.k. But, when I open the application it has 3D in the top bar. What is going on? I don't want the extended version but would like to take advantage of all the memory on my Vista 64bit system.
I don't see PhotoshopCS4 mentioned as certified for Win XP Pro 64bit !
Now seeing that 64bit gets you more than 4Gb RAM and thats a good thing for Photoshop, is anyone using any version of Photoshop on 64bit XP pro and is it ok ?
What version are you with ?
There is no tech support if you run it on 64bit. As 64bit Pro and Photoshop are two 'professional' things to have, I am at a loss to know why Adobe have ignored 64bit Pro users.
...and before someone suggests I get Vista 64, where Adobe have looked at 64bit function, its not an option as my serious 3D CAD program company warn me against it, its resource hungry and not good for such progs, this after testing. Also it would be the death for progs I use that are XP ok and not supported under Vista.
I have an 8Gb PC and wish to continue with Pshop.
CS4 and my 64bit system. I mostly work with files in the 1-2MB range, not large by any means. I will process 2 or 3 photos, and close them.. no problem. But every 3rd or 4th photo, when I open the file, or try to resize/crop it, I get the dreaded "not responding" message and end up waiting 30 seconds to a minutes for PS to come back alive. Obviously this is extremely disruptive to my workflow. I have gone so far as to wipe my system clean, but still experience the same problem. It is a fairly consistent issue that always happens when I process multiple photos. Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Is there some obvious solution I am missing? My specs are as follows.. Intel iCore 7 2.66 Mhz9GB DDR3ATI Radeon 4850 512MB Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bitPS CS4 Extended (with 11.1 update)

I recently had Vista 64bit installed and there was no problem there... OpenGL worked just fine in CS4, just as it should.
But I can't get it working in XP64. I've installed the latest drivers but still nothing.
*all* of my cs4 master suite works great - no issues on any app - except the 64bit version of photoshop... it wont launch at all - and yes i have the 11.0.1 update (adobe updater says everything is current and file properties verify new version on both 32 and 64bit exes) running as administrator doesnt help either. also problem occurs when win7 boots in safe mode. i'm running build 7100 of win7 64bit and have 6gig ram on an i7 system with a gtx 285 so i'd love to utilize the benefits of 64bit.... when i attempt to launch the 64bit exe i get an alert dialog error saying "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."Â and that's it. never makes it to the splash screen or begins loading any dll, it's immediate error.... and like i said, 32bit version works fine from doing cursory google searches and whatnot, i am led to believe it may be a memory addressing issue which i've been unable to investigate or that perhaps my .net framework was out of date? but i checked the framework issue and win7 includes the newest version...
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing constant crashes in Windows XP 64 bit. Photoshop loads but crashes when I open a file. I am using the Master collection and the other software runs with no problem. I have tried repairing the software repairing windows, reinstalling Photoshop reinstalling the Master collection. Reformatting the drive and doing a complete clean install of Windows and the Master collection. Updating all the drivers. Nothing helps, Photoshop works for a while but then crashes for no apparent reason. There is practically no other software installed apart from 3DS Max. If I transfer the licence to a 32 bit machine I have no problem. It even runs well on a Mac under Bootcamp. The machine in question is a standard HP xw8400 with a NVIDA Quadro FX 1500 video card, 4GB RAM and 2T HD space.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI work with large (5B to 15GB) .PSB files (large panoramas). The good news is that I can read one of the PSB files in a couple of minutes (drives the disks full out). Also, photoshop operations although not fast are reasonable. The bad news: Writing a file to disk takes 6 to 10 hours, occassionally 18 hours. During this time, disk IO is nearly non existent, cpu utilization is less than 1%. I have upped the priority of PS to 'high' and it makes no difference. It makes no difference if whether other programs are running, or it is the only program. I have 16GB of memory, a couple of TB of swap disk space, and about 500GB of free destination space (disk are defragmented)
