Photoshop :: PS CS4 - Slow When Printing Multiple...
Mar 17, 2009
I work in a theatre and print a lot of programs and posters. If I send a print run of, say, 18 posters to the printer, Photoshop 7 generated once, then printed all the copies fairly quickly.
With CS4, it's like it's generating the image each time, so it's taking several minutes between each print. I tried saving as a pdf and going to Adobe Acrobat Reader to print and it does the same thing. Appears to work fine in Word and Excel, but of course, those are much smaller files.
I have to print 400 copies of an event program, how to speed things up!

I have two systems. The first a windows 7 32 bit quad core with 8 gigs ram cs4 is installed on this sytem. Time to print a standard job on an epson 4800 (which includes hitting print, selecting options for the printer and then being able to close the file and open another) less than a minute.
Recently installed cs6 on new windows 7 x64 intel core i7 system with 12 gigs ram. I have used both cs4 and cs5 on this newer system. Both ran the same file in under a minute to print as outlined above. Once I installed cs6 however the print time ( as defined above) for the same file above has now gone to 22+ minutes. on cs6, 18+ minutes on cs5 and approx the same for cs4 (all versions of CS are 64 bit on this system)
If there isn't an update to cs6 soon, I presume I will have to de-activate cs6, cs5 and cs4 and then re-install cs4 and cs5 to take advantage of my faster system is that correct?

It's taking about 2 to 3 minutes for an image to start printing. This problem started with CS-3 and went away with CS-4 for about a week and then started with CS-4 also. What seems strange is that it suddenly started some time back in CS-3 and then went away when I upgraded to CS-4, but then came back again.
I ask it to print an image and then it takes 2 to 3 minutes before the printer dialog box shows up. I adjust for print size and click "print" again. Now it takes a couple of minutes for a second dialog box to pop up and I click "print" again. Now in about a minute the printer starts to print.  Once the printer starts printing, the speed is normal. What is the solution to my problem?

The company I purchased AutoCAD 2012 Electrical from had no answers and referred me to Autodesk. Autodesk has told me I have to just live with it because they have no plans to fix the problem, even though they recognize the issue. So I turn to the largest user group I currently have access to.
When I print a drawing, regardless of page size, that contains and image, I have to wait upwards of 10 minutes before the printer sees the drawing and begins to print. The clients I work with use quite a few drawings that contain images and I have days where all I am doing is printing jobs because I have to wait so long.
I have tried to change the print drivers. The printers I use are HP Laser M5035. I connect to them through a network however I have tried to connect to them directly with the same results. The only thing I have found to speed up the proccess, which i find to be rediculous, is to print the job to PDF and then print the PDF to the printer.
I have had the AutoCAD retailer's technicians as well as the Autodesk technicians log into my computer remotely to fix this issue and both recognized the same issue but after a month of trouble shooting I am still at square one.
Before I upgraded to AutoCAD 2012E I had AutoCAD 2009E and printing drawings with images was not nearly as bad. If I did not have to have AutoCAD 2012E I would revert back but this is not an option.

Is there a way to increase the access time so printing is faster?
I have AutoCAD 2013 and access drawings over VPN (6 meg pipe).
Both opening the drawings and especially printing them take a very long time.
It takes about 8 seconds to open drawings, due to all the modules loading on the bottom-left of AutoCAD. Printing takes even longer than opening the drawings.
Is there a setting I can change to speed-up access time?

My file has over 100 layers and 20,000 containers that are in 3D. It worked fine when I drew them. After I closed the file, it always takes 5 to 10 min to open. I can't delete a layer (layer2) or rotate angle of view or any normal command such as purge and audit.., it always crashes.
I was wondering that if I did anything wrong casued this, and that whether my approach of drawing these is correct, performace wise.. and what would be the better way of doing this..because my drawing is now uesless I can't even rotate it in vp or do anything..

how the internals of Inventor / iLogic are working.
We have multiple instances of Inventor running on a 12 core workstation so we can push configurations through concurrently - each Inventor instance is assigned its own processor affinity and each instance has its own project which points to seperate directories of Inventor models.
Everything seems to work OK when there are up to 5/6 working concurrently, but as soon as there are more than 6 the iLogic functions seem to grind to a halt - note that the rules are external rules.
For example, this function took 11 seconds to complete when there were 10 concurrent orders processing. :
Parameter("BLANK", "EDGE_FRT_ACTIVE") = "YES"
Similarly these functions took 11 seconds in total to complete :
iProperties.Value("Custom", "M1110900_P1PO") = iProperties.Value("Custom", "BLANK_GDIM") - iProperties.Value("Custom", "PANEL_GDIM")iProperties.Value("Custom", "M1110900_P2PO") = iProperties.Value("Custom", "BLANK_XGDIM") - iProperties.Value("Custom", "PANEL_XGDIM")iProperties.Value("Custom", "M1110900_P1OR") = 1iProperties.Value("Custom", "M1110900_P2OR") = 0
When I run these with less that 6 concurrent Inventor processes, they're are almost instant.
I just don't know where the bottleneck is. I've ruled out :
- Processor (each core never reaches above around 60%)
- RAM (we've got 48GB of RAM, with about 15GB free at worst)
- Disk (disk IO is busy, but it doesn't look like it's the bottleneck)
- Graphics (Inventor is in silent mode, with no UI, so graphics activity is minimal)
From the tests I've done it seems to be the iLogic functions that are the bottleneck. My next port of call is to change the iLogic functions to actual API calls, but I suspect I'll get the same results.
So, my questions :
Is Inventor queing these iLogic API calls somehow (note we're creating a unique instance of the Inventor.Application COM object for each processing thread) ?
Is there an issue with using external rules with nultiple instances?

I'm doing a project for my World Religions class, and we are to make a a poster board that is supposed to represent a newspaper. He showed examples of last years, and they were really bland, it just looked like cut out pieces of paper places on a posterboard with a newspaper-like title.
I want to know if it is possible to make an image in photopshop, that basically looks like the front of a newspaper by my design, and print it out, of course, this is going on a poster board probably like 2ftx3ft.
So I'd print out like 6 to 9 8x11 sheets with pieces of this huge picture, I'd just cut it out and glue it on the poster board, so itll more realistically resemble a newspaper. I'm fine with using photoshop and make images etc (unless someone has some useful tips)... I'm just concerned if I will be able to do this. I haven't been able to mess with it and figure it out, but I dont want to go through all of my project, print it, and it doesnt work or something.
If not in photoshop, is there a plug-in, external program I can use?

I have just finished putting very many weeks work into Photoshopping a scanned image and now I want to print it with multiple duplicate unaltered images per A4 sheet.
The image is 15cm x 7.3cm, so theoretically I should be able to print 4 of these on an A4 page no problem. However, the solution to how to do this simply and without altering the original image at all complete alludes me. I have tried using google to find a solution and have tried the File -> Automate -> Picture Package option, but besides being overly complicated this also seems to alter the dimensions of your original image. I have also heard about a "long way" of doing things, which involves creating a new A4 sized image and duplicating your image manually 4 times on this page sized image - however I am also quite stumped as to how I should do this without losing any detail of the original image.

I am trying to get several different images to print on one page. I have an Imac and Photoshop Elements 9. No matter what I do I can only get the same image mulitiple times on a page. I have tried picture package and just print, neither works. IPhoto makes this very simple but I'd prefer to use Photoshop where I edit most of my photos. print different images on one page and different sizes if possible.

I have hundreds of photographs to print ranging from 2x3" up to 8x10" and I want to print them all off on a 44" roll and cut them out individually.
All I want to do is point Photoshop to the folder and have it arrange the images in the most efficient configuration for printing automatically, allowing me to set the color management on the document and the dpi of the 44" wide picture before I print it.

How can I automatically add different pictures in a single canvas using Picture package? i.e. I have about 48 pictures and I want to place 4 different pictures to each [10 X 8 - "4(4X5)"] canvas so that I can send all 48 pictures for printing at a digital studio. When I try, multiple copies of single picture appear on each canvas. I tried 'contact sheet' but not satisfied with the result as I could not change the length and width of the pictures.

Often I want to print multiple items onto one page each with a customised size as the paper is expensive and I need to make the most of every sheet. I can't figure out how to do this in photoshop elements 12. I am using windows XP

when we set a document to print in landscape in Corel and then leave it as portrait in the printing preferences, it will print landscape which is fine, then if you put it to landscape in print preferences (still having it as landscape in the program) it will print portrait!
and
if we set a document to print in landscape in Corel and then leave it as portrait in the printing preferences, it will print landscape which is fine, then print 1 copy it will stay at landscape, if you then print 3 copies it will switch to portrait.
Both of the above are happening on a HP 5550 laser printer, we have 4 classrooms each with a 5550 printer in.

so when I print multiple artboards only the first artboard prints correctly and the rest don't get rotated to fit the media so art falls off the page.
it all shows up fine in the preview. this only happens when printing multiple pages, if I print 1 at a time without changing settings it prints fine. this also only happens in illustrator cs6. I have cs4 installed and it prints fine.

We run a Canon ipf655... and as far as I can tell, it won't collate by itself - it gets its information from whatever application one's running. In this case, we are running Autocad 2013. I am trying to figure out a way to print an entire job (say, 30 sheets) without having to open up each and every page and print singly. That's what we do now, and apparently have done for the last 15 years; so if my boss requests a copy of the yadda yadda set from 6 mos ago, we have to go back, open up the cover page, open up every other page, and print them in order.
Is there some way to either save all these individual pages as a "job" or something and then print that "job", or otherwise to instruct the program to print 30 pages in whatever order? Each page is definitely set up differently, with different scales and window sizes and such, but it seems like once each page is set up to print properly, one should be able to print a slew of pages without such painstaking time spent.

We are looking for an easy straightforward way to print / export an entire set of sheets to pdf.The sheets have different papersizes and we want them to be named with the sheet number + name, and possible a prefix by choice. We have Adobe Acrobat X installed as pdf printer. So far we managed to print an entire set to pdf with these somewhat annoying issues:
1. The naming adds the word "sheet" between the chosen prefix and number-name.can we get rid of this?
2. The prints seem only to follow the actual Revit Print-setup, on papersizes.Which means that we need to have print-sessions on every paper size used in a project.Strange that in Revit the paper print-setup, doesnt follow the sheet definitions.(?)Is there a way within Revit to solve this to a more automated workflow?Or do we have to implement third party plugiins / solutions?

Is is possible to "que" a bunch of drawings to be plotted? I would like to be able to open a drawing and plot it, then while it's plotting, open another drawing and plot it, then another and so on and so on. However, I get an error message stating that another plot is in process and only one plot or publish process can be active at one time. Thus, I'm forced to wait for the last one to complete before sending the next one to the plotter.

I have created an image and would like to print as many copies of it as I can fit onto a single page from my printer (let's say A4 size). (My image is a logo that I am printing to water-slide transparency which is too expensive to waste one sheet per image). I can't seem to easily do this in Paint.Net (the options for contact sheet and wallet don't come out in quite the size I want). So I guess the best option is to save the file in another format (tiff, jpeg, PNG etc) and then copy it multiple times into another app like Word or PowerPoint, and then print from there. However my image has some transparent areas that I need to keep as transparent. How do I do this? Are there some image file formats that will retain the transparency? Likewise do word or PowerPoint support the transparent areas and print as such?

I'm working at a screen shop, printing .ps files for film. Most of the art is provided from the client on seperate artboards of varying size. In the print dialog box I select "custom" from media size options. This sets my page size to the size of the selected artboard. The problem is each page needs to be a different size so I am forced to print each page one at a time. Is there a way for illustrator to change the media size per artboard?
