Photoshop :: OpenGL Is Not Working In CS4 - Windows 7?
May 1, 2012
I recently got a new computer and loaded my Photoshop CS4 on to it and the features of Open GL such as holding down the z key and using the scroll on the mouse to zoom in and out and also the left and right bracket key inceasing or decreasing the size of the brush do not work. The new computer is using Windows 7 64 bit and has an AMD quad core with 8 Gb RAM. I checked to make sure that Open GL is selected in the Edit>Preference>Performance where it also tells me that the graphics card does support accelerated graphics for Open GL.Â
Photoshop CS4 ExtendedATi FireGL V3400Windows 7 x64 RC Build 72294GB RAM My graphics card meets the required specification for OpenGL in Photoshop CS4, but it is not enabled (greyed out). Has anybody else had problems with CS4 OpenGL in Windows 7 x64? As a Microsoft Action Pack subscriber, I will actually be required to fully upgrade to Windows 7, a month after receiving it in mid-September. If this is a problem due to CS4 not being fully compatible with Win7
I am experiencing suddenly an odd behavior with Photoshop CS5.Everytime I open a new window in photoshop the window goes outside my screen.I have to go each time to the system preferences on my mac and switch for a second to another screen resolution to bring back the window to my screen.I have found out that when I disable OpenGL in Photoshop the problem goes away. But still, I want to use OpenGL.
I have been trying to use the 3D features of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and have been having no success. I have enabled the 'Use Graphics Processor' in the Edit->Preferences->Performance dialog box. I have also ensured that I have the latest version of the drivers installed. The video cards (in a CrossfireX configuration) are Sapphire HD Radeon 7970s. The thing is, when I installed Photoshop a few weeks ago, I tested the 3D functions and they worked fine. Now they no longer do so. I have updated video drivers and Photoshop since then but when I reverted back to the older drivers, the 3D features still didn't work. I have tested OpenGL in Modo 601 and Houdini FX 12 with no problems.
I have having a weird problem with Photoshop CS4. First of all, let me give off the specs. Â OS: Windows 7 64 bit Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570 (Driver Version 8.960.11.1000, with latest Catalyst Control Center) Â I use Photoshop CS4 for freelance work, and one of the tools I like to use is the Rotate tool. When I first got my desktop and installed Photoshop, everything worked fine. However, recently I was forced to perform and factory restore on my desktop due to a virus. Â Today I started working on something and when I tried using the Rotate tool, it was not working (I go that error window saying it wasn't enabled). I checked the OpenGL settings to see it was enabled. Confused, I restarted Photoshop and tried again with no luck. Â This turned into a search around the internet to see just what is going on, but the only thing I could find was suggesting updating drivers for my graphics card and Adobe, which I have tried with no success. I have found out that some people were having the same trouble as me, but what makes my case odd is that it was working fine before the factory restore.
OpenGL support does not seem to be working on PhotoshopCC. The HUD color picker does not appear and when I try to rotate the canvas, a message pops up that says the rewuest could not be completed because it only works with OpenGL enabled windows.  I have two NVIDIA Quadro K600 cards (with up to date drivers), a Cintiq monitor and a new Dell workstation. I'm using the trial version of Photoshop CC. (I had to replace my computer recently because the old one died, and rather than reinstalling CS4 I decided to try CC and see how I liked it)  My machine is a powerful graphics computer, so it ought to be able to handle OpenGL. Under Preferences / Performance I do have "Use Graphics Processor" checked, but it does not work.
I just updated my photoshop to the latest version provided in the application manager.
i created a 3D document in front, had no problems except 1 crash while working with 3D layers.now it won´t let me open this psd becaus Open GL is not activated.
I'm running CS6 from the Creative Cloud and since the latest update, Open GL is not working and I cannot use 3D. Â Photoshop doesn't detect a graphics processor, which disables Open GL and rasterizes all my 3D objects (that i already created on this machine). Â Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 128 MBOS Version: OS X 10.8.2Memory: 6 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAMPhotoshop Version: 13.1.1 x64Â
CS4 OpenGL stops working after a few minutes of painting. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the amount I paint. If I save the file, then reopen I can paint for another few minutes before the opengl stops working. Is this a standard problem with CS4? Is there a solution?
I have Photoshop CS5 Extended (x64), and I have enabled OpenGL in the preferences, AND I've checked that my Graphics card is supported, AND I've updated my drivers.... Â I can't, for the life of me, get Repousse to work!!I'm trying to extrude a logo I've created.... BUT I've also tried to repousse a text layer and a Shape layer, just to test it... and NOTHING.
I was using this card in a previous machine on Windows XP 32bit and the OpenGL feature worked great! Since then, I've upgraded to a Quad Core AMD machine with 8 gigs of ram; same video card but on Windows XP 64bit to make use of the additional ram. However, even with the newest ATi drivers, the OpenGL feature is greyed out. I've done some reading and it seems like I'm not the only one with this problem. In Catalyst Control Centre, it says OpenGL version 6.14.10.8664.
I've recently updated my laptop to a Windows 8 however I am experiencing the screen blacking out/flickering when using Photoshop. I've changed the Drawing Mode in the Graphics Processor Settings to Basic as previously suggested on this site yet nothing has changed?
When using a tool such as the clone tool or a selection tool, the screen flashes and sometime goes temporarily black. I reinstalled PS no change. PS system screen says I'm running NT, but I'm running Windows 8 Pro. How can I fix this?
I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program". Â I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors. Â Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia. Â I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite. The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it. Â I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
I use the "Open with..." command in the Windows right-click context menu all the time to open .jpg and other image files in Photoshop. I don't want to directly associate .jpgs, etc, to Photoshop because most of the time I just want to view them quickly in Windows Photo Viewer. But every once in a while, I need to open one in PS, so I had been using the "Open with..." menu command. This worked fine in every version of CS that I've ever used. Â Until, all of a sudden, when I installed CS5.5, "Open with..." no longer works. Right-clicking on a .jpg, for instance, doesn't even show Photoshop as a valid option for an application in which to open the file (not in the "Recommended Programs" list or even the "Other Programs" list). So I have to go and browse for an "Additional Program". I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, but whether I choose the photoshop.exe in Program Files or Program Files (x86), the jpg still just opens in the default application (Windows Photo Viewer). Â Same for PDFs (opening in either Photoshop or Illustrator).PSDs open fine, directly, when I double-click the file. This really seems like a CS issue, since "Open with" still works fine for other non-Adobe applications. How can I get my "Open with" menu to "see" Photoshop again as a valid option and pass the filename correctly so that it actually opens the file?
Suddenly having an issue where the "Fill" command is not working. It doesn't matter if I use Shift+Backspace or Shift+F5 or by going to Edit>Fill. It goes through the motions and the Fill action is recorded in the history panel, but the layer is not filled. The only way I've successfully filled is with the Paint Bucket, and that's just not as convenient. Â System details:
Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 Photoshop CC 14.0 x64
Installed and activated Photoshop CS5 on new PC running Windows 7. For some reason the Levels adjustment tool will not work. All other adjustment tools seem to be working as usual. How I can restore the Levels tool?
Started a trial with Photoshop V11 and I'm having troubles with slicing. Firstly the slice tool isn't in my toolbox, and secondly when I press K which I think is the correct shortcut key - my cursor changes to a circle with a line through it (banned).
It is happening on any PSD file that I'm opening.
If I try saving for Web and using the slice tool which is on that toolbar, I can create a box around something but as soon as I finish dragging with the mouse the square disappears. It is as if I really am banned from slicing -
I just downloaded and installed PSE11 trial to do some experiments. I wanted to change to another window I had open, the Windows taskbar wouldn't un hide, this is a deal breaker if there is not a solution. I prefer not to minimize a window I prefer to switch from one to the other. Windows Vista
I downloaded and installed cs6 for windows 7 32 bit and cant open it to use,i get the message" adobe photoshop cs6 has stopped working" I have tried different graphics drivers but still the same. My other adobe softaware works fine,IE: elements11 and lightroom4.
On my new Dell XPS 8500 Win 8 computer Photoshop CS6 keeps stopping working. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit versions and updated the video driver after phoning Dell. Also installed latest Adobe program updates. I keep getting the error message "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."Â
I originally installed my CS5 on a computer running Windows Vista & it worked great. I just got a new computer running Windows 7, installed my Adobe Photoshop Elements & CS5 on it, but now it doesn't work properly. When I click on the right hand triangle at the bottom of any of the tools, it doesn't open to show the different tools like it used to.
I recently installed Windows 8 RTM and Photoshop CS6 Standard. I have installed the patch brining it up to 13.1 but rotate via the intuos tablet and it doesn't work. Intuos5 has touch now and that feature works on my laptop with W7 and CS5. Rotate canvas is also available on the touch ring but that doesnt work either.Â
If I try to open Photoshop CS5 while my second monitor is plugged into my laptop (via VGA cable), it loads normally, but won't display any opened images. I get a gray background and nothing else. [URL](I can even see the tiny image preview in the navigator, but not the image itself.) Â However, t'll work just fine if I open Photoshop with the second monitor disconnected and THEN plug it in, so it's not a problem with the dual monitors in general...just when first opening it. It's annoying because, if I'm working on a project and realize I have to make a quick image tweak in Photoshop, I have to unplug the monitor and then rearrange all my windows after Photoshop's done loading and I can plug it back in. Â I can't seem to find any information online that specifically mentions this issue. For reference, I'm using Windows 7 on a Lenovo laptop.
Am I the only one having trouble with the brush tool using a touchscreen running Windows 8? The touch feature doesn't work at all, and the mouse is intermittent, at best.
Elemets 11 stopped working with the "windows is checking for a solution" message but nothing after that. I have tried the Ctrl,Alt,shift. Delete Elements settings but this has not worked.
