I've recently updated my laptop to a Windows 8 however I am experiencing the screen blacking out/flickering when using Photoshop. I've changed the Drawing Mode in the Graphics Processor Settings to Basic as previously suggested on this site yet nothing has changed?
When using a tool such as the clone tool or a selection tool, the screen flashes and sometime goes temporarily black. I reinstalled PS no change. PS system screen says I'm running NT, but I'm running Windows 8 Pro. How can I fix this?
I recently got a new computer and loaded my Photoshop CS4 on to it and the features of Open GL such as holding down the z key and using the scroll on the mouse to zoom in and out and also the left and right bracket key inceasing or decreasing the size of the brush do not work. The new computer is using Windows 7 64 bit and has an AMD quad core with 8 Gb RAM. I checked to make sure that Open GL is selected in the Edit>Preference>Performance where it also tells me that the graphics card does support accelerated graphics for Open GL.Â
I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program". Â I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors. Â Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia. Â I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite. The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it. Â I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
I use the "Open with..." command in the Windows right-click context menu all the time to open .jpg and other image files in Photoshop. I don't want to directly associate .jpgs, etc, to Photoshop because most of the time I just want to view them quickly in Windows Photo Viewer. But every once in a while, I need to open one in PS, so I had been using the "Open with..." menu command. This worked fine in every version of CS that I've ever used. Â Until, all of a sudden, when I installed CS5.5, "Open with..." no longer works. Right-clicking on a .jpg, for instance, doesn't even show Photoshop as a valid option for an application in which to open the file (not in the "Recommended Programs" list or even the "Other Programs" list). So I have to go and browse for an "Additional Program". I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, but whether I choose the photoshop.exe in Program Files or Program Files (x86), the jpg still just opens in the default application (Windows Photo Viewer). Â Same for PDFs (opening in either Photoshop or Illustrator).PSDs open fine, directly, when I double-click the file. This really seems like a CS issue, since "Open with" still works fine for other non-Adobe applications. How can I get my "Open with" menu to "see" Photoshop again as a valid option and pass the filename correctly so that it actually opens the file?
Photoshop CS4 ExtendedATi FireGL V3400Windows 7 x64 RC Build 72294GB RAM My graphics card meets the required specification for OpenGL in Photoshop CS4, but it is not enabled (greyed out). Has anybody else had problems with CS4 OpenGL in Windows 7 x64? As a Microsoft Action Pack subscriber, I will actually be required to fully upgrade to Windows 7, a month after receiving it in mid-September. If this is a problem due to CS4 not being fully compatible with Win7
Suddenly having an issue where the "Fill" command is not working. It doesn't matter if I use Shift+Backspace or Shift+F5 or by going to Edit>Fill. It goes through the motions and the Fill action is recorded in the history panel, but the layer is not filled. The only way I've successfully filled is with the Paint Bucket, and that's just not as convenient. Â System details:
Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 Photoshop CC 14.0 x64
Installed and activated Photoshop CS5 on new PC running Windows 7. For some reason the Levels adjustment tool will not work. All other adjustment tools seem to be working as usual. How I can restore the Levels tool?
Started a trial with Photoshop V11 and I'm having troubles with slicing. Firstly the slice tool isn't in my toolbox, and secondly when I press K which I think is the correct shortcut key - my cursor changes to a circle with a line through it (banned).
It is happening on any PSD file that I'm opening.
If I try saving for Web and using the slice tool which is on that toolbar, I can create a box around something but as soon as I finish dragging with the mouse the square disappears. It is as if I really am banned from slicing -
I just downloaded and installed PSE11 trial to do some experiments. I wanted to change to another window I had open, the Windows taskbar wouldn't un hide, this is a deal breaker if there is not a solution. I prefer not to minimize a window I prefer to switch from one to the other. Windows Vista
I downloaded and installed cs6 for windows 7 32 bit and cant open it to use,i get the message" adobe photoshop cs6 has stopped working" I have tried different graphics drivers but still the same. My other adobe softaware works fine,IE: elements11 and lightroom4.
On my new Dell XPS 8500 Win 8 computer Photoshop CS6 keeps stopping working. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit versions and updated the video driver after phoning Dell. Also installed latest Adobe program updates. I keep getting the error message "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."Â
I originally installed my CS5 on a computer running Windows Vista & it worked great. I just got a new computer running Windows 7, installed my Adobe Photoshop Elements & CS5 on it, but now it doesn't work properly. When I click on the right hand triangle at the bottom of any of the tools, it doesn't open to show the different tools like it used to.
I recently installed Windows 8 RTM and Photoshop CS6 Standard. I have installed the patch brining it up to 13.1 but rotate via the intuos tablet and it doesn't work. Intuos5 has touch now and that feature works on my laptop with W7 and CS5. Rotate canvas is also available on the touch ring but that doesnt work either.Â
If I try to open Photoshop CS5 while my second monitor is plugged into my laptop (via VGA cable), it loads normally, but won't display any opened images. I get a gray background and nothing else. [URL](I can even see the tiny image preview in the navigator, but not the image itself.) Â However, t'll work just fine if I open Photoshop with the second monitor disconnected and THEN plug it in, so it's not a problem with the dual monitors in general...just when first opening it. It's annoying because, if I'm working on a project and realize I have to make a quick image tweak in Photoshop, I have to unplug the monitor and then rearrange all my windows after Photoshop's done loading and I can plug it back in. Â I can't seem to find any information online that specifically mentions this issue. For reference, I'm using Windows 7 on a Lenovo laptop.
Am I the only one having trouble with the brush tool using a touchscreen running Windows 8? The touch feature doesn't work at all, and the mouse is intermittent, at best.
Elemets 11 stopped working with the "windows is checking for a solution" message but nothing after that. I have tried the Ctrl,Alt,shift. Delete Elements settings but this has not worked.
A rather bizarre issue this. I have reinstalled Elements 10 on a system with Win 8 64 bit. If I attempt to crop a portrait format photo e.g. 2009px x 3034px to 1920 x 2400, the crop frame for the width falls outside the photo. Cropping a landscape photo works correctly but the problem persists even if the portrait photo is rotated to 'landscape'.If I crop the same portrait photo on an XP system, there is no problem.
Ok just took the leap to Windows 8 and when reviewing the Reliabity Report in Windows PSE11 is showing up as stopped working, and it is causing some performance issues. it is because I dont have Quick Time installed. Installed Quick Time still have the problem.
I regularly use CTL-C & CTL-V to move objects from one drawing to another. That is I used to but now it's broken. When I select objects and use CTL-C, the command line says "_copyclip x found" (where "x" is the number of objects). I then go to another drawing and use CTL-V whereupon the command line says "_pasteclip" but I get no opportunity to select a base point and nothing more happens. I found a string describing this exact problem and a member suggested a "HotFix" of file "acdb17.dll" I searched my ACAD install folder and found no such file. I searched the entire hard drive and didn't find it. I put the supposed magic file in my ACAD folder (along with all the other dll files), re-started AutoCAD and still I can't use windows copy and paste. These commands work as expected in all other programs, just not Auto CAD. It's not that I'm married to the clipboard but I really need to move objects from one drawing to another. I also tried first saving all objects as a block but that didn't work. I've read where this problem exists in 2007 but I used to use 2007 with no problem. I'm on 2002 now and it used to work on that too.
We purcased X6 and installed on 3 PC. two are Windows XP and one has Windows 8 operating system.
X6 work fine and fast on Windows 8 system.
But both X6 on both Windows XP are nightmare. Just creating new document can take up to 10 sec. Printing is also very slow, but exporting simple JPG file knock-me down. It take half minute or more...
Previous we worked many year's with X4 on same PC's, now we format PC's, Install Windows XP with all service pack's and updates, reboot machine and install X6.
It is not possible to install Windows 8 on those two PC's, because they drive two machines, that only support Windows XP...
I just upgrade to Windows8 x64 and I'm using Illustrator 64 CS6.  I am trying to drag and drop a TIF file off my desktop in to a document like I have so many times before in Illustrator but my cursor is showing the 'No' symbol (circle with line thru it).  It is working in Photoshop tho.
I have a feeling this may come under the heading of 'dumb queries'. Nonetheless: Illustrator CS6 (Mac OS X 10.6) has just started opening documents with the working window hard left of the screen, rather than immediately tot he right of the toolbar. I hope the attached graphic makes this clear: Â This happens when opening documents by double-clicking in the Finder and by using File > Open in Illustrator itself.I've tried resetting preferences; and moving the window to the correct position, creating a new workspace and restarting Illustrator. Sadly neither action works.
I am no longer able to import any new files into Lightroom. I was in the middle of an import and all of a sudden it stopped and the program hung. I am running Win 7 64 with an i7 with 12 gigs of RAM. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom multiple times (Using both the windows installer and via Lightroom and then searched to see if there were any orpne files on my drive. ) , did a system restore to a point about a month ago, tried importing a simple jpeg file from the hard drive as well as CR2 files (Canon) and even DNG files. Also tried setting up a new catalog with no success. Plenty of hard drive space and no drive errors. There is nothing wrong with the files as I can open them in Photoshop. I can see the files on the import screen though they are not always rendered. When I choose import it just starts, says Importing files and hangs. When I finally give up, and I have waited an hour or more, and kill the process I get the message - No photos or videos were found to import. Other tidbits.  Takes a long time to be able to select files to import from the import screen. System seems to run for some time before I can select or deselect (If this were a Mac it would show a beach ball during this wait)  Each time I quit or try to change catalogues it asks for the weekly backup (my default) even though I backed it up sometimes as recently as within the past 10 minutes and those backups appear to be valid and in the directory. Every other feature, including Export seems to work I just can no longer import files.
There were some patches available at one time but I'm not able to find them anymore. I have recently installed X3 on a W7 machine and have so far found everything to work fine except for an issue of half of my fonts being blank when trying to choose one from the drop down menu. Existing files with these blank fonts also come up with the fonts completely missing as if the entire set of words was deleted. Here is the list of patches that I've heard is necessary for X3 to be compatible with W7...
Below is a message from an older post:
I too have CorelDraw X3 on a Windows 7 machine, in order to get the best from it you will need to visit Corel's website [URL] and install the following patches Service Packs and patches in this order, re-start after each:1. CGSX3 Hot Patch1.exe2. CGSX3SP1.msp3. CGSX3SP2.msp4. Font Nav Fix.msp .. which will fix the problem with the Fontsand then run the program in Compatibility Mode with Windows XP+SP2
Why can't Windows Explorer show thumbnail previews of DNG's on my Windows 8.1 64bit Pc. I assume is has something to do with not having the DNG codec. However, on Adobe's website it says their DNG codec only works on Windows 7.
