Illustrator :: Working Windows Opens In Wrong Position

I have a feeling this may come under the heading of 'dumb queries'. Nonetheless: Illustrator CS6 (Mac OS X 10.6) has just started opening documents with the working window hard left of the screen, rather than immediately tot he right of the toolbar. I hope the attached graphic makes this clear:
This happens when opening documents by double-clicking in the Finder and by using File > Open in Illustrator itself.I've tried resetting preferences; and moving the window to the correct position, creating a new workspace and restarting Illustrator. Sadly neither action works.

I wanted everyone to find it. In the older Windows programs, you can choose which program opens in editing, but in Windows 7 that feature is disabled. If you download the following program, click File Type Settings > Context Menu > then, for example "PNG" extension-- you can choose which program OPENS a PNG, which program EDITS a PNG, etc. That way you can view a photo in Windows Photo Viewer, but edit in Photoshop. I downloaded MacHacha because I needed it to join some segments for Toast . So, I open ImageReady and use it but I look in the dock and notice a funky icon and not the right one but again, it still works but I don't trust it. I close IR and re-open it but MacHacha opens instead. I go to my Adobe Photoshop folder which contains IR with the right icon but it still opens MacHacha. So, I click get info in finder and it says that IR is a MacHacha file. WTH? I don't even know how but after I copied IR to my applications but not in my PS folder and I right-clicked get info and it says Kind: Adobe IR but it's the wrong icon. I can use IR but it's all messed up. I opened it from the PS folder and got info and it says it was modified on the 10th which I don't understand. I've used it since then and right until last night, it was working fine with the right icon etc. I also can't jump from IR to PS but the reverse works. I even tried adding IR to the dock from Apps (not PS) and the right icon appeared. However, when I clicked on it, it didn't worked and the wrong icon is shown right next to it. Here are some captures, don't click- C&P. Now, it's happening with PS 7 which is recognized as a MacHacha file.

Indesign promted me to update the path to PS while opening a PS file from within ID. I clicked okay, having never seen this, and having had no problem opening PS files files from ID before.
BUT then it started opening PS from my back up clone, and not my boot disk! How do I change it back?
I tried selecting 'other' from the list under 'edt with' and navigating to the correct version off my boot disk, but it was grey and not available!
I unmounted the back up clone and it worked fine, but when I remounted I got the same problem.

We had a project folder named A. We created a new project folder named B and copied the AutoCad files from A to B. On one of our workstations if you open a drawing from folder B, then click save as, the dialog opens to folder A.
Not a big problem, but since the files are named the same it can be confusing...

If I bring link in a dwg file origin to origin. The line work comes in correct and straight but in the wrong position.
If I link in a dwg file by shared coordinates it comes in in the right position but the dwg lines aren't straight if you move the mouse they jump around.

I just upgrade to Windows8 x64 and I'm using Illustrator 64 CS6. I am trying to drag and drop a TIF file off my desktop in to a document like I have so many times before in Illustrator but my cursor is showing the 'No' symbol (circle with line thru it).
It is working in Photoshop tho.

what happens when I open up an existing AutoCad drawing (with no other AutoCAD applications running); I get a "dummy" screen (to the left) and the target drawing (to the right.)
It seems to me the dummy screen is unnecessary and would like to get rid this pet-peeve from my AutoCAd experience.

I have CS6 running under W7 64bit. For some reason, when I open up WE from within CS6 to select a file to work on, WE always opens maximised. I think this is new on my system.
Is there any way to get it back to open not-maximised, Same problem occurs when I open WE in CS4 but not in PE11. Googling hasn't produced an answer yet. My display is large and searching across the whole of it is a chore.

When I open "Image>Image size" for example, the dialogue window that opens appear half way off-screen, and I can't access it. The only way for me to close it is to use the Esc button.
Every time I open one of theese windows, they wander off a couple of pixels, until they can't be reached. Sure, I can try to reset their position manually each time I use them, but that's not how it's supposed to be.
I need a way to reset all windows positions. The workspace options doesn't seem to include the dialogue windows, so that's no use.

Photoshop CC opens and hangs in windows 7 ultimate x64 bit. I have more than sufficient system specifications but it crashes everytime i open it, it hasn't worked once and i then cannot close photoshop, even via the task manager, i have to restart the system everytime.

I am experiencing suddenly an odd behavior with Photoshop CS5.Everytime I open a new window in photoshop the window goes outside my screen.I have to go each time to the system preferences on my mac and switch for a second to another screen resolution to bring back the window to my screen.I have found out that when I disable OpenGL in Photoshop the problem goes away. But still, I want to use OpenGL.

I'm attempting to use CS3 on a Dell laptop- 64 bit- Windows 7.
When first installed it worked fine, then suddenly it was non-functional. It will open, but ANY request at all will cause it to freeze. I have to close it through Task Manager. I get no error messages, and when I went in to view the event viewer there is nothing there under Applications.
I've changed the default printer to a non-network but haven't done much else as I don't have administrative privileges on this (work) computer. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did nothing.

Photoshop CC today opens Adobe Application Manager, says "Sign in Required", but with correct info gives error message. Also, CC desktop not working. I haven't had any problem in the previous two months. I also was just build two weeks ago, and had to update my billing information. I tried online chat, after 30 minutes of typing, I've been disconnected twice. The funny thing is, Photoshop CC does open, and it works fine. I'm on a Mac running the latest operating system and hardware.

I wonder if it’s possible with Photoshop CS5 (OS: Win7) to control and navigate the cursor position automatically?
Situation: I have a layer with many scattered points.
Wanted: I would like to jump automatically (e. g. by mouse click) to every single point.
Or is it basically not possible because it is a Graphic- and *not* a Vector Software.

For some reason my cloning start poition has stopped working. Normally you select clone tool / press alt/ right click at position where you want to copy from /right click again at new position you want to copy to / I am now getting: "could not use clone stamp as area has not been defined". I thought it might be fault on keyboard, but is the same with new keyboard and I have reinstalled CS4.

I have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.

When in CS6 I want to be able to move my image where ever I want it, by default it's centered on the workspace. Because my palettes are on the right and I use quit a bit of them it's better when I can move the image moire to the left.

I want to display a symbol next to the cursor. It should stay there like in this example here:http:/[url]....
When using a responsive Stage (what is crucial to my project, because I need 100% width on all window sizes) the placement ot the symbol is dependent on the size of the window and the position on the screen. Here is an example of the problem: [url]....
So, gathering the coordinates within EA seems not to be the right way.. Or any solution to compensate for the responsivness?

I've had a few PDFs come in that can only open in the 64 bit version of AI. The problem is that we have a script that runs and interacts with AI, that only works with the 32 bit version. what could cause the .pdf to only work in AI 64-bit? If you need the .pdf itself, I'll have to get permission from the artist/customer before I can upload it.

In Lightroom 4.2 when open and I want to edit in PSE 10, I go to Photo, edit in PSE 10, and PSE 10 opens, but there is no image. I want to edit in PSE 10 and can't. Using LR 4.2, and attempting to edit in PSE 10, PSE 10 opens but no image opens to edit

Last week I finished my artwork and saved as usual as an .ai file. I checked it again a few days ago, made a few amendments, and it was fine. Today I tried to open it but a box I have never seen before seems to think my document is a pdf and I get the option to open either 'image' or 'pages'. I open pages and the artwork does not look such great resolution as it did previously.
I tried to open it in Photoshop not AI.

Every time I open illustrator and click on the pen icon, open a document, etc etc it crashes. I am using a Mac computer OS X version 10.9. I only have downloaded fonts from dafont.com on this computer. Nothing else has been installed or downloaded. I have tried opening the program while holding CMD/OPT/SHIFT,uninstalling illustrator and redownloading but it still does not work. Below is the error message I get:

I just installed cs6, and when I open files in Illustrator, it opens all of the layers which contain sublayers. It does this even if all the top-level layers were closed during the previous save. The files I work with have a large layer-structure, so re-closing the top-level layers every time I open a file wastes a lot of my time. Can I close all layers at once, or better yet, can I stop Illustrator from opening all of the layers automatically when I load a file?
If not, then WHY on earth not? I can't be the only one who opens and closes large files with lots of layers and sub-layers...
Edit: I also am noticing this problem is even worse in cs6, because openning and closing individual layers plays a little animation of rotating the triangular arrow before the layer which, cute as it may be, just makes the task of individually closing up all my layers that much more tedious. Can I turn off that little animation of the triangular arrow when opening and closing layers?

It is only happening with 2 files, created in CS4. When I go to open either of these documents, I get 3 previews opening at once. I restarted Illustrator, I also tried saving one of the documents as a CS3 document and the problem happens every time. All of magnifications are different, one is at 99.37% and the 2 other open files are also at random magnifications. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
