Photoshop CC opens and hangs in windows 7 ultimate x64 bit. I have more than sufficient system specifications but it crashes everytime i open it, it hasn't worked once and i then cannot close photoshop, even via the task manager, i have to restart the system everytime.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed Photoshop CS6 Extended on two 64 bit Windows 7 machines. One went fine--a clean install on a workstation with no prior CS versions.
Second machine, a laptop, not so good. The 64 bit version hangs as soon as I try to open a file, even using File > New. The program is totally hung and nonresponsive at that point. But the 32 bit version works fine.
Both machines are running 64 bit Win 7, SP1, autoupdated. The second machine had Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 8 still present when I first installed CS6. When the 'hang' first happened, I uninstalled both, and then reinstalled CS6. Problem persisted. Unistalled and reinstalled CS6 again after reboot.
This is a strange thing : I have PSP X5 under my computer for about one year, and this morning it does not start when I click on PSP icon. When I look at the process monitoring, the exe appears and disappears 3 seconds later. I tried the restore database, nothing changed. I tried to rename the database file, no more success.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have CS6 running under W7 64bit. For some reason, when I open up WE from within CS6 to select a file to work on, WE always opens maximised. I think this is new on my system.
Is there any way to get it back to open not-maximised, Same problem occurs when I open WE in CS4 but not in PE11. Googling hasn't produced an answer yet. My display is large and searching across the whole of it is a chore.
When I open "Image>Image size" for example, the dialogue window that opens appear half way off-screen, and I can't access it. The only way for me to close it is to use the Esc button.
Every time I open one of theese windows, they wander off a couple of pixels, until they can't be reached. Sure, I can try to reset their position manually each time I use them, but that's not how it's supposed to be.
I need a way to reset all windows positions. The workspace options doesn't seem to include the dialogue windows, so that's no use.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing suddenly an odd behavior with Photoshop CS5.Everytime I open a new window in photoshop the window goes outside my screen.I have to go each time to the system preferences on my mac and switch for a second to another screen resolution to bring back the window to my screen.I have found out that when I disable OpenGL in Photoshop the problem goes away. But still, I want to use OpenGL.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to use CS3 on a Dell laptop- 64 bit- Windows 7.
When first installed it worked fine, then suddenly it was non-functional. It will open, but ANY request at all will cause it to freeze. I have to close it through Task Manager. I get no error messages, and when I went in to view the event viewer there is nothing there under Applications.
I've changed the default printer to a non-network but haven't done much else as I don't have administrative privileges on this (work) computer. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did nothing.
I installed Gimp 2.8 for Windows tonight on an XP SP3 system and it hangs for more than 30min when starting (never completes initializing). Gimp 2.8 takes 50% CPU and 184Mb RAM and sits "Gathering Data" with no further progress. I end up killing the process.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled into a fresh directory with no change. I gave up and tried to reinstall 2.6 and get almost the same issue except RAM usage goes up to 550Mb and it sits at the startup screen.
I wanted everyone to find it. In the older Windows programs, you can choose which program opens in editing, but in Windows 7 that feature is disabled. If you download the following program, click File Type Settings > Context Menu > then, for example "PNG" extension-- you can choose which program OPENS a PNG, which program EDITS a PNG, etc. That way you can view a photo in Windows Photo Viewer, but edit in Photoshop. It seems to me the dummy screen is unnecessary and would like to get rid this pet-peeve from my AutoCAd experience.
We installed acad 2010 on a brand new computer with windows 7 64Bit.
Acad runs fine. Only frequently after closing a drawing the application crashes.
I've tried to reinstall acad but that doesn't fix the problem.
I have a feeling this may come under the heading of 'dumb queries'. Nonetheless: Illustrator CS6 (Mac OS X 10.6) has just started opening documents with the working window hard left of the screen, rather than immediately tot he right of the toolbar. I hope the attached graphic makes this clear:
This happens when opening documents by double-clicking in the Finder and by using File > Open in Illustrator itself.I've tried resetting preferences; and moving the window to the correct position, creating a new workspace and restarting Illustrator. Sadly neither action works.
I have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought CS4, and the 'regular' download loaded CS4 32 bit and 64 bit (both). I have none of my NIK 3rd part plug-ins on the 64 bit. I have gone to the NIK site and found that they are not yet available in 64 bit.
Think that this is then a workflow question - do I do my work in 64 bit, then open the image in 32 bit for the parts when I want to use, for instance, their sharpener, then save and out? I am not sure how this workaround will affect things.

I work largely in PS (have been since v. 2.5) and somewhat with CorelDraw (because I'm too busy to teach myself Illustrator). <br /><br />Now that everything seems to be up and running, I'm noticing that quite a few of my favorite fonts are no longer on my fonts list. Particularly needed are Germanic-looking ones, which I have used considerably in small amounts, like titles, and had a choice among and still need.

I had some difficulty with my initial installations of both Photoshop and Illustrator, where they would both hang very shortly after opening. I thought I had solved the issue by creating an new user account on my machine with administrator permissions, and logging in as that user to run the programs. Now both programs will launch, and Illustrator is working fine, but Photoshop will not save.
I am able to launch Photoshop and do whatever I like, but as soon as I save the program hangs. It does not complete the save. It will take me through any pertinent dialogs before saving, but then hangs. Task Manager says Photoshop is not responding. The only way out is to kill the program in Task Manager. This happens with both the Save and Save As commands, and it doesn't seem to matter where I save the file to. Interestingly, Save for Web works fine.

CS5 not loading after the computer wakes up from a few minutes sleep? I'm not sure how long this has been happening but a long time now.(probably ever since I got it, it's getting crazy frustrating now.
I have to force quit PS in order to use it on restart.(of program) I use a mac. OSX 10.7.2 it's been happening for the few os updates Any other Mac users hear of this as a problem or know the remedy?
I have been running Photoshop CS Version 8.0 under Vista for 5 months when all of a sudden I cannot finishing loading Photoshop. It hangs after displaying the message "Reading Text Global Resources...done". I uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop in another directory but it still hangs. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be the problem? Is it a Vista problem or is it an environmental problem? I have 4 gig of memory and 200 gig of free disk space. In a nutshell I cannot get Photoshop to finishing loading.

My PC has all the requirements required for Photoshop.
My PC details:
Windows XP: 256MB of RAM
20GB of available hard-disk space (C drive where photoshop is installed)
I can load an image, do some editing, but as soon as I try to save or save as, the save dialog box flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, then disappears. Now you can't do anything, program hangs up. I try to end the program from windows, says it doesn't want to end because its waiting for a response from me. It seems like the save dialog box is getting hidden when it shouldn't.
