what happens when I open up an existing AutoCad drawing (with no other AutoCAD applications running); I get a "dummy" screen (to the left) and the target drawing (to the right.)
It seems to me the dummy screen is unnecessary and would like to get rid this pet-peeve from my AutoCAd experience.
I run into this from time to time: I have animated some components using dummy objects but then realize that at some point I need to animate them all moving together, so I link the dummy objects to a new parent dummy that I just created. However, most of the time the child dummy objects go haywire, orienting themselves in new directions as soon as I link them to the parent dummy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have CS6 running under W7 64bit. For some reason, when I open up WE from within CS6 to select a file to work on, WE always opens maximised. I think this is new on my system.
Is there any way to get it back to open not-maximised, Same problem occurs when I open WE in CS4 but not in PE11. Googling hasn't produced an answer yet. My display is large and searching across the whole of it is a chore.
When I open "Image>Image size" for example, the dialogue window that opens appear half way off-screen, and I can't access it. The only way for me to close it is to use the Esc button.
Every time I open one of theese windows, they wander off a couple of pixels, until they can't be reached. Sure, I can try to reset their position manually each time I use them, but that's not how it's supposed to be.
I need a way to reset all windows positions. The workspace options doesn't seem to include the dialogue windows, so that's no use.
Photoshop CC opens and hangs in windows 7 ultimate x64 bit. I have more than sufficient system specifications but it crashes everytime i open it, it hasn't worked once and i then cannot close photoshop, even via the task manager, i have to restart the system everytime.

But still, I want to use OpenGL.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to use CS3 on a Dell laptop- 64 bit- Windows 7.
When first installed it worked fine, then suddenly it was non-functional. It will open, but ANY request at all will cause it to freeze. I have to close it through Task Manager. I get no error messages, and when I went in to view the event viewer there is nothing there under Applications.
I've changed the default printer to a non-network but haven't done much else as I don't have administrative privileges on this (work) computer. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did nothing.
I have a feeling this may come under the heading of 'dumb queries'. Nonetheless: Illustrator CS6 (Mac OS X 10.6) has just started opening documents with the working window hard left of the screen, rather than immediately tot he right of the toolbar. I hope the attached graphic makes this clear:
This happens when opening documents by double-clicking in the Finder and by using File > Open in Illustrator itself.I've tried resetting preferences; and moving the window to the correct position, creating a new workspace and restarting Illustrator. Sadly neither action works.
I wanted everyone to find it. In the older Windows programs, you can choose which program opens in editing, but in Windows 7 that feature is disabled. If you download the following program, click File Type Settings > Context Menu > then, for example "PNG" extension-- you can choose which program OPENS a PNG, which program EDITS a PNG, etc. That way you can view a photo in Windows Photo Viewer, but edit in Photoshop. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.

i already tried to create a dummy text style with all the correct setting and type a test word and voila - it shows one of the letter in a different font!
I don't need the capability to print directly to a plotter, but I need to set up a dummy plotter to generate plt files that will be changed to tif files with our Kip. Any plotter driver that works for this situation? Every one I have tried has generated a plt file, but the Kip would not convert it or open it.

The method I am using is to create a dummy surface and apply surface profiles to all Baselines and Targets (mostly Offset Alignments). This way if I have to change my levels, I simply amend my dummy surface and everything updates straight away.
This works great, but I recently got a (typically random) Fatal Error. I recovered the Recover drawing which was saved and for some reason all profiles changed to Static and I can't change them back to Dynamic.
I know that if an alignment cant find the surface it will change to Static and I assume that during the fatal error or recover process, something must have triggered for this to happen?
Is there any way (other than resampling all profiles and updating each corridor target individually) of making the profiles dynamic again?

When i'm in Max, is there any way for me to tell Max that these dummies should be instances of another object?

I have several parts that at a point in time come together and need to rotate together around a common point. However, when I animate them it will only let me rotate them around each individual part's axis. How can I temporarily link these parts to a parent dummy object so that I can rotate them together? I want this to happen midstream in the animation and after the rotation I will be decoupling the parts and having them do different things..

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis just started happening after I downloaded DWG TruViewer. I am working on LT 2008 using Fusionware on a MacPro. I needed the viewer to convert newer drawings from an architect. Now, when I double click on a drawing in Explorer a separate AutoCad window opens for each drawing I need open. I prefer to just go up to Window>and click on the one I need at that time, especially if I have several to switch between because it is easier to see the file name I want.

I can't open files using File>Open because the program crashed each time and Autodesk is not issuing anymore fixes for 2008. (Yes, we should upgrade but there is no money budgeted)
Right-click on any .dwg file and go to Properties>General>Change> and select the AutoCad LT launcher as the preferred program
Since I am in Window 7 instead of XP the File Types tab has been removed from Folder Options so I can't fix it that way.
So, why did this change? FYI that stupid TruViewer made lots of unnecessay changes to my AutoCad and Explorer programs that I am still trying to sort out like changing the file icon and hiding the file extensions. Are they trying to make it hard to find files or what?
And next, how can I reset the default so that double clicking on a .dwg in Explorer opens in already open AutoCad window?
We can preview the DWF files in Windows Explorer with Windows XP but cannot seem to be able to with Windows 7 64.

We have a drawing that when opened for Read/Write on the Z420, it will hang, however if opened Read-Only, it will open successfully.
On the Z400, the drawing can open for Read/Write and Read-Only.

I have tested across 4 Z420's and 3 Z400's and have replicated the results as described above on all of the tests.
They are all using the same build, pointing to the same locations, the only different thing is the PC Model.
when i print a .dwg to a .pdf file, my computer opens the .pdf file for me to see. Might be nice for some, but for me it's a pain i the ass.
how to turn it off? Within Autocad or in Windows?
