So does anyone know of ways to create realistic hair from scratch, or how to add on to this one to make it look not so cut/paste.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my render look realistic, like a photo and am having some trouble finding the write settings to play with.
I think you just need to use the render setup, lighting and environment & effects. Please see what I used bellow. what settings I have over used, under used or not used to achieve a realistic looking image.
- Some textures need to be fixed, but I am having trouble with the leather. I have used the A&D leather template with mid level reflections, high samples, A/O and a bumb. Also a light and dark texture in the diffuse slot with (Ambient/Reflective Occlusion)
Used settings:
- Photometric Lights
- mental ray
- FG - medium
- 5 bounces
- Noise filtering High
- GI mulitplier and photons per sample up
- max num. photons per sample few 1000
- Average GI photons per light up a few 1000
- Decay
- render elements:
- Global tuning all around 2
- mitchell
- Contours
- displacement sudiv max
- Effects - brightness and contrast
- mr photographic exposure control
- with preset, photographic exposure, image control
Was wondering if there are some ways in converting a highly realistic rendering of an object generated in a 3D program into a more illustrative, simplified, alittle less realistic version in Photoshop?
The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?

For editing a jpeg file (e.g., sharpening), first I create a duplicate layer. Now, I have two layers: Layer 1 and Background layers. Editing is done only on the duplicate layer. That's how I am able to keep the original jpeg file. When editing is completed on Layer 1, I got to save the edited image. Before saving it, what should I do with the Background layer? Should I delete it or merge/flatten with Layer 1?
View 8 Replies View Relatedunder the Transform command I use the distort function quite a bit, usually to correct lense distortion. When using the distort function I use the mouse to select a top left or top right corner handle and drag it to a point where I am happy with the result. I want to do the same but instead of using the mouse I want to use the keyboard direction arrows to effect the same change. At present if I select the left top corner handle, and I use the keyboard arrows the whole image moves in that direction. It will not apply the same action as the mouse does. The reason for wanting to use the keyboard is I want more control over the correction. I find using the mouse a bit all over the place in getting the correct point.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have both Photoshop CS6 and CS5. I need to uninstall CS6 because my computer can't handle the program (CS5 always worked fine). When I go to my control panel it only shows CS6. If I uninstall this version is anything going to happen to CS5 or will it remain as normal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find a constant way to delete just one of 2 handles from an anchor point. I can drag the handle into the anchor point, but sometimes it still remains, and can be pulled out. Other times, it seems to disappear, as desired.
I would like to convert to one handle only.
Using Photoshop CC 14.1.2 I notice that I no longer see the vector control handle when I close a path. I hope this is a bug, and not an intended UI change. Visualizing the control wing is an important feature for accuracy etc.
While on the subject of lost functionality, in earlier PS versions when a fill layer was created, the alpha mask was active by default. This allowed for immediate alteration of the mask. Now the default is to have the fill active, which makes less sense as the fill is mostly intended to not be edited directly. Sounds like a quible, but in a fast production setting, this adds an unnecessary step, which did not exist in an earlier iteration.
Also, many generations ago, (in a distant century) there was a "turn off path" button -which could be given a keyboard shortcut via actions. Could never understand why this disappeared. Now, turning off a pth requires that the pen tool be selected & hit ESC or to click into a blank area in the path pallette -which may not exist when many paths have been created. I see there is now a keyboard shortcut for this, but it is buried in the key commands list. So much easier to have that little button (and custom key option) Again, is a busy prodcution workflow, this is a speedbump.
I've recently made the switch from CS5.5 extended to CS6 extended and am running into a minor quirk which is disrupting my workflow.
In CS5.5, I was able to create a bezier curve using two anchors with handles, and then adjust the length of the handles of both points simultaneously by dragging the path between the points. This would maintain the position of both anchors and also the angles of both sets of handles. In CS6, if I try to do this, the handles change direction, and if I'm too close to one of the points, doing this actually causes the point to move around.
I have attached two screen captures to visually communicate my issue in case my text description is unclear. Is there any way to return photoshop to the CS5.5 behavior?
how keyword tags are handled. For instance:
1. how do you select keyword tags to NOT look at.
2. why aren't all my photos with keyword tags being imported with those tags, I see the tags when i look in Microsoft explorer and in version 6 but I don't see them in version 11. 3. In version 6 all the keyword tags were on the left, now the people tags are not shown and I have to press "people" at the top of the display in order to see the people related tags, and then for them, it doesn't show the tags tool bar on the right.
