View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got/learning PS CS2. I noticed when I first loaded CS2, I had an option to save as .JPEG. A few days later, the option disappeared. Even when I open an original .JPEG, the Save As option does not display .JPEG as an option. For web work, I need to be able to quickly save to .JPEG (from the save as option) and I can't figure out why it is not available. I do have the Save for Web option, but it take a bit longer to use.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI now have a PDF file that displays properly as a PDF, in Preview, Acrobat, etc., but when I open it up to edit it in Illustrator it shows me an older version. I'm trying to figure out if the AI elements of the file between that older version and the current version may be somehow retrievable, or if they're just totally gone.
Here's what I did, and what I've been able to do again (on two different computers) to replicate the same problem:
1. create a new file, and save as a PDF with Illustrator editing capabilities (let's call it test.pdf)
2. draw some stuff with the brush tool
3. save
4. save a copy, a PDF without Illustrator editing capabilities (testcopy.pdf)
5. draw more stuff with the brush tool
6. save
7. save as, a PDF without Illustrator editing capabilities (testcopy2.pdf)
Theoretically at this point, I should have one PDF that's editable in Illustrator (test.pdf) and one that's not editable in Illustrator (testcopy2.pdf) that look the same, and then an older version that's not editable in Illustrator (testcopy.pdf). (The uneditable PDFs were just to send to someone for review.)
Instead, test.pdf opens up in Illustrator to look like testcopy.pdf, not testcopy2.pdf. Any changes made between the 'save a copy' and the 'save as' (i.e. things drawn at step 5) are lost. Yet, when I open up test.pdf in Acrobat or Preview, it looks like testcopy2.pdf, the most up-to-date version. I'm able to open up testcopy2.pdf in Illustrator, so I haven't lost everything, but brush strokes have been converted to shapes, and what I need to do at this point is change the characteristics of the brush strokes.
I do recognize that I wouldn't have had this problem if I were working with an .ai file originally, which I try to do typically, but for some reason didn't here.
Is there any way to recover lost data after Paint Shop Pro X4 crashes?
There should at least be an option to save all open documents every x minutes. Where is this option?
I found where PSP saves the temp files and I recovered several of them. Is it possible to use these files to recover my data?
Since I upgraded to CS 5.5 I lost the ability to custom image warp in Photoshop. The icon is gray. how to get it back?
View 15 Replies View RelatedAfter designing, i try to save the image by clicking save as, but it does not trigger any thing. even if i click save alone. it's still the same thing. Until i try to close the interface, then it will pop-up a dialog message that do i want to save before i close or not, then i click yes but it does not display png, jpeg and the likes as file extension. it only displays psd and some uncommon extensions.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know the title sounds weird, but I am having trouble keeping my levels from reverting back to their default look when saving as a jpeg or attempting to flatten or merge my layers. I can attach a link to the PDS if you would like to take a look at it. The layer that is losing its levels settings is called "Stars". I don't change my levels often, so I am sure its something I am just missing. The levels are just changes on a single layer, as stated above its the layer called "Stars".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a Macbook Pro running X11(ver 2.3.6) and Gimp 2.6.11 and have had no problems with either until recently. I'm a professional artist with about 5 solid years of experience using Gimp and I love it. I actually own Photoshop and spend more time overall in the Gimp. But now, all of a sudden, I have no ability to do anything it it except rifle through the menus. Absolutely nothing works in the image window because the mouse will not click anywhere inside it. Its the same whether I use the build in touch pad, a USB 3-button mouse or my Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. I know, or at least strongly suspect, that its a focus issue because I can click on a menu item and drop the menu, but clicking outside the menu onto the image area does not collapse the menu! I've searched and searched and I'm at a loss. My Gimps BROKE!

I did not "Save" the altered image. Autosave is turned off.
Recently I have shifted to Gimp 2.8. I also use picasa to createdescription and upload purpose. Image descriptions created by picasa isgetting lost if I export (after edits) in gimp. Gimp is replacing existingdescription with "x-default".

After I open a create new image, the cursor disappears and the last tool I choose (rectangle...) appears and the cursor (arrow) disappears. Is this standard or is there a way to exit from the tool box and use just the arrow cursor?
I have many documents I need to convert to HTML. I need the images in the documents to be links. This has worked fine, according to normal procedures if the images are png, jpg, or gifs. However, most of my images are not those formats. So if I have an eps, pdf, and tiff in my document, upon html export, there is no hyperlink. That is, the <a href></a> tags are not in the HTML at all. But if I convert the images to png, jpeg, or gifs, put them in my document, then choose that file format for conversion, the links work fine.
I want to say there is an issue with the link tags upon file conversion. It could be something else, but I am not sure why it works for certain file formats and not others. I figured ID would keep the association with the hyperling after converting an image from say and eps to jpg. Any way to keep hyperlinks for images after exporting to HTML.
(I can obviously add the link tags myself in the HTML, or convert the images myself and put them in the docs, but I have many documents and would like some automated way.)
I have cs5.1 and when I convert an image to cmyk and save to tiff the saved image grays-out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an action in which it will place an image onto an image like a watermark, when i place the image, it is not center by center so i drag it or use keyboard arrows to center and then press enter, then i saw its on the center, but when i save it, the saved image is not on the center, how was that?
you can see that the right side of border it is not centered because the left side border is thicker than right side, here is the part of the action
you can see that i move the image after i place it because its not on the center so adjusting it makes it at the center but the Translate part is not equal.
you've zoomed in to start this painstaking freehand selection withlots and lots of points, and when you get to the end, nothing getsselected. Then you notice that, once again, you had done a Select Allsome time ago (invisible because you zoomed in) and forgotten to SelectNone before clicking the lasso.
What do people do to avoid this? (I know the obvious answer is "rememberto check what your selection is all the time", but that's seriouslyflow-disruptive.)
GIMP could blink the image or something when you add selectionpoints that don't increase/decrease the already selected area, but Iguess that might take some time to implement.
How do I get back the scaling tool when highlighting an image in CS3 that I have lost?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA while back I took a Photoshop class and remember a lesson on where you could select a region of an image and save it for the web with a high quality and select another region of the same image and save it for the web with a low quality, so that the focal point was saved with a high quality and the background was saved with a low quality. I have no idea where my notes are from this class and can not remember at all how to do this. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial about this?
View 2 Replies View Related! would assume that something like this has been made but i cant for the life of me find it when shall i find a plugin or default way of doing this i have about 50 layers that need saving as an image each and the idea of doing it by hand scares me.

I see how Photoshop CS3 uses the History Log for actions, but can it be set up to not only record the step but what was done in that step, i.e., a History Log entry shows "curves" but doesn't show that a "darker" preset was used in that step.
Is there a way within Photoshop CS5 to add Author/photographer details to image. When I save?
I have to macs with photoshop and I need to monitor who is editting what I figure if everything saved on my machine gets tagged I could work it out from there? A bit like how microsoft word will add the author by default.
I'm aware of File info but that would be a long process to do it. Ideally not an action either.
I have created an image by combining 2 images the model and the frame (finished1), because i need this image with a clear background when I save it as a GIF the image degrades (finished2) how can i save the image with a clear background and still maintain the details of the JPG?

We have a detailed drawn image. This has been scanned at 600 dpi and put into Photoshop to enhance the image. We need to know what to do in Photoshop to meet the needs of the printer and get the best possible image for printing.
Photoshop is new to me. I like to paint locomotives for a game, but am wondering how to change the colors from blue to black and keep all the shading and door details. When I use the paint brush I can never seem to get the side panels into the correct color without losing a lot of detail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAny plugin or something that gathers all the colors within a given image and allows you to save the pallete in another image...If you seen a sprite sheet thats pretty much what Im asking for. It'd be cool if the colors were sorted by how dark it was and by RGB.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I load a large image (say 5400 px sq.) in Paint.net (or similar) & choose a zoom level where I like the look / size of individual elements, in ONE area. Image is still no where near 100%.
I select a rectangle so the ACTUAL size of rectangle_AND the way the selection looks AT THAT ZOOM level, is what I want. Say, to use as Fx header background.
Problem I've had: Because the image I initially cropped wasn't at 100%, when crop it - the PHYSICAL size of the rectangle may be 1920 x 180 px, but the prgm still thinks / knows it's really 3500 x 450 (or such), at 40% zoom. I can't just save the image - as it looks on screen - & it be that size when reopen it.
I DON'T want to resize / resample it, because (sometimes) that changes the current look (size of certain elements in the image). The only way I've found (gotta be another way) is take a screen shot of the cropped image, at it's CURRENT zoom level. Then it will save as a 1920 x 180 px image, NOT as a 3500 x 450 px image that was at reduced zoom.
If I resize & save at a REDUCED %, it can change the look & size of elements. Every thing I've tried to save the image - at it's PHYSICAL size on screen - say 18.5 in. x 1.75 in. (when image is NOT @ 100% zoom), results in saving a much larger image. I understand this, but looking for a way around it. Used various settings & tried to trick the apps many ways - cropping in one app, copying to another - you name it.
