Photoshop :: PSD Files Do Not Have CS6 Icons But Generic Icons From Windows
Apr 23, 2013I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.

Photoshop :: HowTo About Panoramas Stitching?
Mar 17, 2008My understanding is that Panoramas Stitching (=>PaSt) feature is available with PhotoShop Elements (PE). I am not familiar with the PE product. Is PE a stand alone product or does it require PS?
Is PaSt available with PS (with which minimum ver.)?
I read here in the forums that there are various capacity problems with PaSt.
In that regard, and any other aspect, if PaSt is available with PS, what are the main differences using PS or PE with PaSt feature?
Photoshop :: CS6 - Windows 7 Changing File Type Icons?
Aug 6, 2012I'm using CS6 in Windows 7 64 (bit) - I've successfully used File Types Manager (freeware) to change file type icons (since the Windows file type editing has been removed). My problem is that JPEG, PNG, & GIF change in lockstep - (like you would expect all of a similar type - ex. JPG, JPEG, etc. to do). BMP and TIFF are not affected. Is it a Windows or Photoshop matter? (This was not a problem in Windows XP and CS.) I would just like to have the correct icon (provided in the Photoshop.exe file) associated with the various file types.

I've folders of photographs taken with a digital camera (jpegs) which I need to print index to include other informations such as FileName, Date, Exposure and Camera used, etc.
I've tried Automate - PDF, but that has limited options for the output. I do know other software can do it. Nevertheless, I just want to find out how Photoshop do it.

Feb 7, 2011I seem to have lost my icons for Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 files. The files show as a standard white "page" icon, instead of the program icon. Since I often have multiple Adobe file formats in one folder, it makes it difficult to distinguish which ones are Illustrator vs. InDesign. Oddly enough, Photoshop files and GoLive site files show their icons for files.

I read elsewhere online that this could be caused by a cleaning utility program such as CCleaner when "{GUID} folders are deleted from C:WindowsInstaller." However, I can't find the answer as to how to FIX it.

I have tried using Windows>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program to check that Illustrator and InDesign are set as defaults to open the files. I found that the programs were set to shortcuts within the Adobe folder. I fixed that by deleting the shortcut and putting the actual program link as the source to open the program. (Actual program .exe file was located within Adobe Illustrator> Support Files>Contents>Windows.)

Also, I have the Adobe CS2 Suite installed under Program Files (x86).

Jun 30, 2009I've been trying to make a icon for Vista (actually Windows 7 RC, but it uses the same guidelines) and simply cannot get it to work. I have my icon made in a 256x256 size and saved into .png. I edit the .xml file for my library that I want the icon to go for, but it simply changes it to the default folder icon. The XML coding is right, the location is correct, so it must lie within how I made the icon. Now, I know the default icon in the "Vista guideline" requires 256x256 and 11 other sizes; I had figured this would just downsize automatically. Do I resize the icon manually in seperate layers or what? And I apologize if this is the wrong place or this has been answered. I've searched the internet for at least 30 minutes, searched this forum lightly and came up empty. Also sorry if this seems more like a Windows issue rather than a Photoshop issue, but generally going into a Windows forum and asking this will get you a bunch of garbage, seeing as they may or may not have experience with making icons. P.S. The PNG is not interlaced;

Oct 19, 2011How to view psp images in Windows Explorer (I have Windows 7 - 64 bit)? When I am in PSP X3 I open my files by going to "file" then "open". I get the standard psp icon instead of the actual pic view. PSD and PNG files show up, PSP images do not.
I do not like using the pic display at the bottom of my screen. I want the largest workspace possible.

May 23, 2013Back in the day, there was an application that showed the drawing version # in the icon in windows explorer. Â That was good for then, because of the lack of object data in many of the vertices. Â The link I have isn't valid anymore and it didn't work in Win7. Â Â
What I'd like to have is something that will show the different Acad versions related to the icon using the product ID, for example:
ACAD-5xxx = 2007Â
ACAD-6xxx = 2008
ACAD-7xxx = 2009
ACAD-8xxx = 2010
ACAD-9xxx = 2011
then in 2012 they changed to Axxx
2013 = Bxxx (???) I dont' have 2013 loaded
2014 = Dxxx (what happened to Cxxx?)
With the lack of backward compatibility between versions for objects (and I totally get that), it would be nice to be able to tell by an icon which version was used to create the drawing. Â I know the version information is stored in the header, which can be read, I'm just not a programmer. Â

Jul 25, 2012I used civil 3d and autocad map 2010 to connect to a soils data .shp file provided by my state. Then i created a style using filters and rules to identify the various soil symbols provided in the data file. This resulted in a multicolored map shading the various soil types. The shaded polygons and areas list as map bulk object and they do not obey any plot style table or color table. When I plot the map Its too bold and I want to screen all the colors back about 75% so they will not over run my site entities. How I can get those screened back without saving the layer out to a different file and making them autocad entities?

Thing is, the downloaded .zip doesn't seem to contain anything I can use. There's a .pat file, but I get an error every time I try to get GIMP to use it. There's also a .psd file (which I know is technically for Photoshop), but when I open that in GIMP, it's just two layers of a slightly faded black text saying "etc" on a background, all covered up by a big black rectangle.

Feb 21, 2012I have an existing DWG and am adding FDO layers. I have styled the FDO data and given it bright colors so it is easy to see, but no styling is taking effect and the data is hidden. I can select by clicking on records in the show data table menu found by right-clicking on the FDO layers in the task pane.
If I create a new DWG I am able to see this data so the problem appears to be local to this DWG. I also tried copying this data set into a new DWG and the problem persists.

My problem: I'm at the part where I need to make windows, this, by extruding selected subdivisions inwards, using the z axis. The problem is that the selected faces wont enter the building. In others words, the selected subdivisions wont extrude inwards, so that no recess (or window) appears. They go outward just fine, but going inward, the subdivision remains lined up with the outer face of the structure, so that no recess appear and the structures face remains flat.
