Photoshop :: How To Add CODECs To Export Video Options
Feb 12, 2013
I'm trying to add lossless CODECs (e.g., FFV1, Lagarith) to Photoshop (and Premiere and After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder) so that I can generate archival videos with the highest possible lossless compression ratios. I've installed several CODECs, but none of them appear in Photoshop's 'Export Video' options, for example. How do I get these CODECs to appear?
I'm touching up some images I want to export to Premiere Pro 2.0 and wanted to make sure I'm using the write/best settings. I selected the 720x480 pre-set when making a new project. It has the following settings; 720x48072 pixels/inch (should I go larger?)RGB (should I use CMYK?)8 bit (should I use 16 bit?) Are the default settings best? I want to use the largest/best image quality possible. I'm using the CS2 suite btw.
I can see that the render video options are vastly different in OS X and Windows versions of PS CS6. Not only they are different layed out but as far as I can see a wide range of codecs are missing on the OS X version.
In particular, how can I export a video file using QuickTime container and H.264 codec in OS X version? If You select H.264 video it creates an .mp4 file whereas I wnat a .mov file. Same codec but different container.
I am running PS6 and want to open and edit AVI files. When I try to do that I get an error message saying "the video file cannot be opened" . This seems to apply to ALL avis - yet I can open and edit MP4, MMV etc. I installed Gspot to track whether it was a codec issue and when I try to open ANY file I get this error message : "Warning: DirectShow crashed while GSpot was attempting to obtain information about a codec. This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attempt to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow. GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem. The codec was tentatively identified as: C:Windowssystem 32imaadp32.acm Unknown video codec #11". I see a site to download the "imaadp32.acm" codec but what about the "Unknown video codec #11".
I should add that the avi files DO open and play in Bridge. I have the latest Quicktime. Everything is up to date and PS and the computer is otherwise working perfectly !
Is it me or am I really seeing that X5 has LESS video encoding options vs X4? Really? I remember having lots of choices and options as far as how to encode MP4 the size (or ratio, etc 720 vs 1080p)
I can't seem to get 1080p but I can get 720p but in X4 I recall I could do 1080p for MP4 though.
I cannot get music onto the audio line in Elements 7 something to do with "Codecs", I have recently changed my computer, it does have the latest Flash Player installed.
I have recently upgraded from VideoStudio 12 to Pro X4, and have noticed that I don't have all of the Video Save Options (specifically Media type and Audio format) that I have with 12.
I produce video for playback by a regional local access provider, and their requirements are mpeg-2 video with mpeg layer 2 audio. Both of these are options that are available in 12 but not X4. I understand that NTSC DVD video is mpeg-2, but I'm still at a loss with the audio format.
Here is a screenshot of the video/audio format I need to be able to produce:
On the drop down menu on my pse11 the import/export options are unselecteable, why this is and how it can be resolved as I would like to be able to import things.
I could export to any codec in avi format. Now it seems that only mjpeg, DV Video, uncompressed or xiph.org are available. This wouldn't concern me in the slightest if I was only trying to export video, but I'm trying to get an avi to show up as a material and max simply refuses to let me select it. I even tried re-exporting the video in Mjpeg format and it STILL won't let me import the avi. VLC plays the video fine as does WMP.
Every other program I load (Premiere, Video Studio) has all of the codecs loaded so the part that confuses me is how do I get these codecs to show up in max and why did they go missing in the first place as last week everything worked fine.
With the new 2.8 Gimp I seem to have lost the ability to change PNG export options. You used to get a dialogue which allowed you to set interlacing, compression etc etc but this seems to have disappeared?
We produce our own plasma cut sheet metal parts (up to 60 mm thick) for our manufactured machines. We have just installed a new machine that has a 24 station drilling/tapping head as well as the plasma head.
Our existing method automated of exporting the DXF shape files works great but I have a problem with drilled/tapped holes. I have configured the DXF output to put the external profiles on a named layer and done the same for internal profiles.
The problem arises with the DXF output of a drilled/tapped hole also being on the internal profile layer as the plasma machine see's any hole (drilled or not) as a plasma cut hole. I need to to be able to put drilled/tapped holes on a different layer but I don't want to have to do this manually (open DXF in Autocad, select and change drilled/tapped holes to another layer), save DXF file, as 80-90% of the parts we use on a machine are plasma cut 9no manual cutting).
So I'm putting it out there for the developers of Inventor to increase the DXF output layer options so that features (drilled/tapped holes, slots, etc..) can be put on a different layer to the inner and outer profiles.
What happened to the stacking optons n the export dialog when adding the exports back into the catalog? After watching Jared Platt's creativelive course, I started creating my PSD's by exporting them in bulk, adding them back into the catalog and stacking them on top of the original raw files. After updating to LR 4.2 I don't see the option in the export dialog any more.
I recently purchased a royalty free mpg clip to use in a project and the clip plays fine until I upload it to my project. It goes from color to B/W and is distorted. I contacted the vendor who said I need to update codecs in my editing software. I have the most recent X3 updates installed but still having the issue.
Basically when I export a PDF and open it in acrobat it opens 'page width' I'd like it to be 'fit page' so the customer sees the whole proof, not just the top of the page.
I don't see any settings, but I only have 1 fully functional eye so I thought I'd ask you all.
IF there isn't a setting for it, can the fine people at Corel add this setting in the export dialog in the future some time? That'd be awesome.

I am trying to add alt tags to objects in an InDesign CS5 project. The guidance I can find tells me to go to Object > Object Export Options. The problem I have is, there is no Object Export Options option available..
i'm trying to export a video clip in photoshop cs3, but in the render video dialog the "export quicktime" checkbox is greyed out - it will only let me export an image sequence (jpg).
this worked before, i can't figure out what it might be. i tried another file, the box is greyed out there as well.
I have a few MOV format videos that I need to rotate and re-save with PS CS6. I've never tried video editing with Photoshop, and this must be the most basic of basic starts in my next career as a film producer. I assume I just go to Image > Image Rotation as one does with image files? Then when I export the video, and select QuickTime MOV format, the resulting file does not actually have any video in it -- only audio. And despite having no video apparently, the file size is huuuge.
I have QuickTime viewer installed, but do not have a licence for QuickTime full version. Is that it?
Shall I just export to mp4 and be done with it? I would prefer to be consistent... so that I have all MOV files (I won't have to rotate / edit all video files, only some).
In CS6, When editing Pro Res 422, Video with single layer plays back fine but with 3 layers playback and export are very choppy. I tried merging layers but the video doesn't playback at all. Is there any other settings I could try?
CS6 memory usage is 100%, sound is turned of in TL. System MacPro -Quad Core Intel Xeon-Processor Speed 3 GHz, Memory 8GB.
I'm familiar with using photoshop edit photos, but new to video. Currently using Photoshop CC, I want to use Photoshop to edit some short video clips, after apply curve adjustment layer. try to render the video but encounter this problem.
"Could not complete the Render Video command because of a problem with Adobe Media Encoder."
I search for solutions from the net but can't find any answer can solve the problem, I have also update the Adobe Media Encoder, and check I have the latest version of Photoshop, but the problem persist.
here are the screen capture of the Render Video setting page and the error pop up.

1) I can open a video and play it back at the speed of the video.
2) I can not get playback faster than 1 fps if there are any filters applied - the pre-render / buffering isn't working at all.
3) I can not "Render Video" by choosing either "Render Video from the menus or the Export Arrow button in the GUI.
As soon as I select either I get a Progress Bar that that says "Initializing Video Export" but never finishes. I have waited as long as 4hrs and still no dice.I've tried with more than a few different videos and the result is always he same. Here are three of the videos I have tried with:
how to fix an audio issue with exporting video from Photoshop.I am choosing the quick time format however the option for sound is always grayed out. from the animation panel I have the audio enabled and I can hear it when I play back from within Photoshop.
I am using Photoshop CS4 extended on PC Windows 7.I understand the following -
-For audio I need to choose Quicktime format -Photoshop is primarily image editing software (with video capabilities)
I am trying to export a video of a simple animation but I can't select Quicktime export I can only do image sequence, how do I activate the Qick time export button to get other options? Clicking on it doesn't work. My Doc size is 500 x500 Just a heart progressing across the screen and bouncing on ground.
When frames from the timeline are saved using export video, some layer effects display differently from how the frame looks in the timeline. It seems as if some layer effects are based on the layer effect settings for a different frame (for that layer effect setting) 1 rather than the actual frame visible in the timeline.
