I have a drawing of a building elevation and I'd like to color the sky with a gradient - that is, going from dark to light blue as you go down to the horizon. How does the gradient work in Photoshop? How can I use it to get the effect I'm looking for?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using photoshop CS6 and am trying to make a nice logo for my website. I used photoshop through high school so I know little basic things about the program. Anyways, I'm creating a logo from a tut on youtube, it says to hit "ctrl i" which makes the background black. After that I select a darkish grey as my foreground color, then I hit the gradient tool and set it to "radial gradient." Now I drag the mouse across the document and let go but nothing happens. I then tried it with a white background and it worked fine, but I want the background to be black. I made sure that it was on normal, the opacity is 100% and everything seems correct to what the tutorial was showing me. He uses a different photoshop than me so I don't know if that's what causes it.

Moving the sliders and rotating the annotator works fine, but if I double click a slider and change the color the annotator disappears and the color of the slider stays the same. It works fine on non compound paths.
View 7 Replies View RelatedA couple of days ago, The exact same thing started happening with LR3.6. I was hoping updating would do the trick but the exact same thing takes place. With an adjustment brush, when clicking on the image, it, the image, disappears as soon as I click on it. Same thing with gradient filter, the image disappears when I start dragging. Switching to the Library Module, my image is still there. For my image to reappear I have to select another image and go back to my initial image. Even then, I am still "holding" my brush even though my "Tools Strip" is not open. To get rid of the brush, I have to select it AND deselect it for it to disappear.Only then I can do further editing on that particular file that does not involve brush and/or gradient filter. Everything else seems to be working properly. This never happened until 3 days ago and I did not download any new program.

Is it possible to create a gradient similar to radial gradient, except that the shape is other than circular? This image would be the starting point, but I would like the white part fading to black to be another shape (say, a rectangle, a banana, etc.).

I am specifically concerned about the inability to drag global color swatches from the color panel to Gradient stops in the Gradient Panel. I use this method to update a gradient color because I find it MUCH faster than option-dragging to duplicate a stop color, then deleting the unused stop. Since I do this constantly, I find using CS6 very tedious.
In Photoshop CS5 some of the functions on 64 bit do not work, but everything seems to work on 32 bit. I have not searched for all the functions that don't work on 64 bit. I just use the 32 bit program, but I would like to know why the 64 bit program doesn't work right. I would like to be able to use it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI keep running into a situation where I would like to be able to create an edge or a work axis at the intersection of a work plane and the surface of the part. I figured out a work around if the surface is flat, but I haven't figured out a work around for a curved surface.
How do I create work axis where work plane intersects curved surface?
Or put another way: How do I project intersection of work plane and curved surface onto the work plane in a 2D sketch?
I need to be able to draw a 2D sketch on the work plane, but get a perfectly matching projected line onto the work plane, from the curved surface, at the intersection of the curved surface and the work plane.
The attached jpg shows the intersection in question. I circled it.
All of my block updates work just fine when I use them in MEP 12, but we have a couple of drafters working in vanilla AutoCAD & for some reason the same commands/ blocks/ settings (same exact file even) that work in MEP do not work in regular ACAD.
Now they do "work" - the commands/ block insertion - but the annotative adjustment (i.e. 1/4" to 1/8" to etc) do not work until I select the block and add the desired scale to its annotative object scale list - why is this necessary? it isn't in MEP? The blocks work/ act properly annotatively once inserted and adjusted as mentioned above, but again, why? Why? Why is this necessary? All of the scale are in the block file as it resides in my block folder...?

I need the 9 faded into the 2, the 8 faded into the 3, etc. I would use a Gradient Fill but it simply fills all the white space with a gradient from 9 to 2. Short of selecting a space 1 pixel wide hundreds and hundreds of times, and then filling with a gradient, is there something that will let me use a 2D gradient, as it were?

The problem is that this tutorial shows you how to create that gradient look by using the marquee tool to draw in the circles. When I use the shape tool and add in two hearts I can't use the gradient tool to create the same effect:

When I open it in CS6 any shape with a gradient overlay displays as black. When I choose Save for Web it displays correctly in the save window, but the file displays the shapes as black in the regular Photoshop view.

Is it possible to make a gradient over a defined path? For example from one end of an and-sign & to the other so that one is absolute dark and the other one white and so that this gradient is as if you would draw an and-sign with a pen constantly raising pressure on the paper so that it gets darker and darker?
It is for a logo in which one side should be really dark and the other one white.
I recently started noticing very bad gradient banding when using the gradient tool. It's specifically bad when using darker colors. I also noticed when using the blur filter I get banding with dark colors also. I am working on 16 bit document.

I can easily create a preset gradient, but I see no editor anywhere. Everything I see online shows an editor UNDER the presets. CS6 for Mac is not showing this.

However, when I used Gradient Overlay, it didn't work out correctly as it's supposed to do: no matter how I configured the option, it just filled a solid color instead of a gradient (as number 1 in picture). When I clicked reverse, it filled with the other solid color. Number 2 I used Gradient Tools to make it easier to compare.
