Photoshop :: Possible To Create Gradient Similar To Radial Gradient
Jan 17, 2013Is it possible to create a gradient similar to radial gradient, except that the shape is other than circular? This image would be the starting point, but I would like the white part fading to black to be another shape (say, a rectangle, a banana, etc.).

I am specifically concerned about the inability to drag global color swatches from the color panel to Gradient stops in the Gradient Panel. I use this method to update a gradient color because I find it MUCH faster than option-dragging to duplicate a stop color, then deleting the unused stop. Since I do this constantly, I find using CS6 very tedious.

Dec 17, 2005Im looking for the name of a technique, tool, or plugin that will enable me to fade one image into another. I have two images, one of a day sky, one of a night sky, that I'm merging together, similar to this:

I need the 9 faded into the 2, the 8 faded into the 3, etc. I would use a Gradient Fill but it simply fills all the white space with a gradient from 9 to 2. Short of selecting a space 1 pixel wide hundreds and hundreds of times, and then filling with a gradient, is there something that will let me use a 2D gradient, as it were?

Right now, the way I'm doing it is putting gradient on the left & right side of the rectangle, and then making a top and bottom rectangle with gradients to match the sides. This is a PITA ..

The problem is that this tutorial shows you how to create that gradient look by using the marquee tool to draw in the circles. When I use the shape tool and add in two hearts I can't use the gradient tool to create the same effect:

Jun 3, 2013I have found what I can only assume is a bug. I have a PSD file that when opened in CS5 looks as it should. When I open it in CS6 any shape with a gradient overlay displays as black. When I choose Save for Web it displays correctly in the save window, but the file displays the shapes as black in the regular Photoshop view.

Jan 14, 2013Is it possible to make a gradient over a defined path? For example from one end of an and-sign & to the other so that one is absolute dark and the other one white and so that this gradient is as if you would draw an and-sign with a pen constantly raising pressure on the paper so that it gets darker and darker?
It is for a logo in which one side should be really dark and the other one white.

Nov 6, 2013I recently started noticing very bad gradient banding when using the gradient tool. It's specifically bad when using darker colors. I also noticed when using the blur filter I get banding with dark colors also. I am working on 16 bit document.

Aug 22, 2012I can easily create a preset gradient, but I see no editor anywhere. Everything I see online shows an editor UNDER the presets. CS6 for Mac is not showing this.

Jun 28, 2012I used to use Ps normally, but since I've reinstalled my Windows recently so I had to reinstall Ps as well. However, when I used Gradient Overlay, it didn't work out correctly as it's supposed to do: no matter how I configured the option, it just filled a solid color instead of a gradient (as number 1 in picture). When I clicked reverse, it filled with the other solid color. Number 2 I used Gradient Tools to make it easier to compare.

Most of the GIF is a solid color that I want to change from one color to another. I know the before background color (in this case blue) and after background color (in this case green). However, there are many shades of varation in the gradient that I hope can switch from a shade of blue to a shade of green automatically.
I've played with the Image > Adjust > Replace Color options, but can't seem to figure out how to exactly change the background color from the old one to the exact new one that I want.

May 26, 2004Anyway, I have been trying to make some cool shadows and feel that I need some help here. If you place an object on a surface and put some light on it you get a shadow that is very sharp and dark near the objects base and gradually gets more and more "blurred" further away from the object. (Hope you get the picture)
Now, all of the tutorials that I found on this uses two layers. The first layer is sharp and the second is blurred. Using gradient masks they simply blend the two layers into each other. This is pretty good but not perfect. Below is an example:
For now concentrate on the shadow to the right. Can you spot the strange effect when the double shadows are blending? This is the effect I don't like.
The Shadow to the left is more accurate and was made in this way:
1. First I made a selection that surrounded the shadow except for the part closest to the object.
2. I applied some Gaussian blur. (I think it was 0,3 or something)
3. I moved the selection 10 px upwards and repeated step 2.
4. Step 3 was repeted until i had reached the top of the shadow.
This can also be used to mimick a shart focal depth:
Again the right image looks strange.
Finally I made a quick image demonstrating both of the effects:
(I know that the green tube has incorrect lighting, I was not thinking at the moment )
This is my dirty way of doing it, but I suspect that it can be done better. If anyone understands what I am mumbling about and have some ideas please step forward

For example, if when fixing an old photo, the photo is bright in one corner and dark in the opposite corner, it would be nice to apply a gradient type of adjustment.
Photoshop :: Levels Gradient Possible?
Jan 8, 2009I have a situation where my image is 'faded' from left to right.
The left hand side of the picture is 'not bad' (but could use a little touch up). As we progress to the right the image becomes lighter and could use more and more touch up.
I've tried selecting narrow vertical adjacent rectangles and using the levels tool (to greater effect as I moved to the right). I suppose that with enough time and patience (and narrow enough selected rectangles) I could come up with a consistent colouration across the face of the image but---!!
So, is anyone aware of a plugin that would provide a gradation of the effect of the levels tool across the width of the image?
Or of some other way to clean this image up?
