View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a web banner (728 x 90) but forgot to set the background to beingtransparent (so the web page background can show through).
Do you know how I can easily change the background of the banner totransparent?
I am making a banner with a picture that is right justified and the remaining part of the banner a color I pull from the photo. I am also trying to make a gradient to smooth the photo into the background.
I am able to crop and re-size the photo. I create a New Layer, color pick and fill the background and my banner looks good. I then select the gradient tool and select Transparency mode. I click on the photo and the background color disappears and starts
showing the transparency checkerboard. I create the gradient and select another tool to deactivate it. After that my background color never reappears.
So my banner has a photo that fades into a blank area.
I am trying to find a program that will work easily in creating multi-image banners. For example I may use 12 5x7 images that run horizontal on 10" roll paper. Can I do this with Lightroom or do I need to use a different program? I am open to recommendations!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have lots of software code (in tSQL, html, JavaScript, XAML, and C#) that I need to print in a long scroll. The scroll will be no more than 440mm wide and as long as it needs to be (though the roll of paper is 45 m long so I’ll need to make sure it is shorter than that).
The resulting code listing is to from part of an exhibit contrasting the ‘sketching’ phase in a multidisciplinary project between design, social science, and software engineering. The exhibit will form part of the Research Through Design conference [URL]...
At first I thought I’d print straight from the development environment (Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio) but I realise now that is not possible because
1) Both tools assume standard page sizes, and
2) I need to rotate the software code listing 180 degrees so that the end of the listing is at the tail of the paper roll.
For these reasons I’m doing it in Adobe Photoshop (CS5, 64 bit, on Windows 8).My workflow for this is verging on the ridiculous.
1) If I cut-and-paste the code listings file by file from Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio into Photoshop (or Illustrator) I lose the formatting, for example the coloring of comments differently form variable declarations. (See [URL]...)
Thus Step 1 is to cut-and-paste each file into a Microsoft Word document.
2) If I cut-and-paste from the Microsoft Word document into Photoshop I still loose the formatting, and Microsoft Word does not seem to be able to cope with the paper roll nor rotating the print. So I save the Microsoft Word document as a PDF and open that into Photoshop.
3) I now have 51 Photoshop files each with one layer containing the text for that ‘page’, though I think it’s an image as it is not editable as text. I then save each of these files.
4) Using Adobe Bridge I open all 51 Photoshop files created in Stage 3 and “Load Files into Photoshop Layers” so that I have a new single Photoshop file with all 51 text image layers in.
5) The layers sit on top of each other. What I need is for them to sit head-to-toe. I don’t know how to do this without spending a million years selecting layers and moving them by hand.
6) If I ever get Stage 5 done I will then group the 51 layers and rotate the result through 180 degrees.
7) I will then resize the result to have a width of 400mm and print the resulting file on our banner printer, having first calculated the resulting paper ‘height’ and turned off the automatic paper cutting.
So my questions are:
1) Is there a better way of doing this?
2) I can see the Photoshop actions that will align layers by their tops, their bottoms, or their centers but how do I automatically align them so that the bottom of layer 1 touches the top of layer 2, the bottom of layer 2 touches the top of layer 3, etc.?
I've been fooling around with paint net to get acclimated. I know how to make rectangular banner - but I would like to make a banner that has rounded corners. Does paint net allow me to do that>?

Thought maybe it was just the preview so I saved the file as an animated gif. Opened it in Windows Picture Viewer, and it still did not work. I also tried the process in X5 without any successful result.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came accross this background effect in a magazine and would very much like to know how its been created. I wouldnt have any problems creating the underlying blue gradient layer but its the white spiral effect that Im not so sure about. Ive tried spiral or twirl filters but they havent really given me this effect.
Ive also tried creating a circle, filling it with white then drawing circles within it using the marque tool then deleting them. Still not the desire effect though, and maybe there is a much easier method?

I am trying to insert a photoshop TIFF into a Quark document without background data so that I may overlap images. The photoshop TIFF I manipulated and saved is simply an image with the grey and white checkered background. There is only one layer. I assumed that this meant that it would import into the Quark doc without any background color but there is still a white background.

Thought this was a Photoshop problem. When I select a portion of an image in Photoshop (which has come from Lightroom) and press Delete, it no longer brings up the Fill dialog; it just deletes the pixels.
After some discussion on the Photoshop forum, I see that now, when I tell Lightroom "Edit in Photoshop", it creates a file which does not have a Background layer, and this causes the Delete key to act differently. This was not the case several weeks ago, but has just started to happen. Is there any adjustment I can make to the "Edit In" settings to get a Background layer in Photoshop?
I want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the background color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7.

I have Photoshop Elements 11. I designed a book cover with Microsoft Word 2010 and saved the file as a Pdf. I want to upload an image of this book cover to various web sites that require a Jpeg image and the book cover has to cover at least 85% of the image and require a pure white back ground. Pixel size can be 1,000 or more. I did go to the library to get reference books but, I can't ascertain from these books how to do this. I am a beginner to Photoshop and realize I will have to get training for future projects. I wanted to upload an image from my computer to show you the book cover but there was a dialogue box that appeared saying the file was too large to upload. The book cover I designed is 8.5' x 11.0"
