In older versions of Photoshop there was a very beautiful filter - low pass.
It could make blurry effect to picture. I liked so much to use it on my nature photos.
It was situated in Filters --> Sharpen (if i don`t mistake)
Where is it now? Why it`s not present in new versions of Photoshop (CS and CS2 don`t have it)?
i have a good grasp of the arcane nuances of unsharp mask, but nothing on high pass filter, So when we select that tool, and what parameters to consider to what end.

1. I import the image from LR
2. I duplicate the layer
3. I go to Filter....High Pass
4. I adjust the gray image to the amount I want to sharpen
5. I then go to hard light in the blend modes to change the gray to the image and nothing happens
6. The image stays gray and will not change..
7. None of the blend modes change the gray image.
8. ?
9. This happens in both programs.
How good is LR's ND filter function? Can it replace a physical ND filter? Once you blow highlight, I doubt any software can recover to a decent degree. What are the limitations of LR's ND filter function then?

I remember using Slice in the past, but I can't remember if it was before upgrading to Gimp 2.8. Now, there are only 2 items (Image Map and Semi-Flatten) under the Filters/Web menu. Slice isn't there.
Does this slider work like the radius slider in high-pass filter in PS?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy decor filter has disappeared from the filters menu. Was using it yesterday, no problem. Today, it's just gone. I have uninstalled Gimp and reinstalled it several times and that does not work.
The version I am using is 2.8.4 and I have a PC with Windows 7. I have been using the program for the last two months with no problems and the more I use the more I like it.
Just to add the issue, I installed Gimp 2.8.4 on my wife's computer, and the filter is there.
Unable to see the lines of the Graduated filter tool or the outlne and handles of the new Radial filter tool. They were visible when I first installed Lr5 and used them on several photos
View 4 Replies View Related've been using Photoshop for a while now, since v.5.5. I'm not new to Actions, batches, droplets and the like. However, I've run into the need to process multiple files, in a multitude of ways and seem to be hitting a roadblock.
The current workflow is to take a folder of JPEGs and drop them onto a droplet that turns them into "Antique" look, I repeat the dragging-dropping process again with a Black & White Droplet, then again with a Sepia droplet. Ultimately I'd LOVE to combine the 3 steps into one: dropping the images onto a single droplet (or whatever it takes) and return to have 3 folders full of my derivative images.
My colleagues idea was to add a "revert" step into the original action, do the next steps, revert, etc. This works fine on a SINGLE image—when run solely as Action—but fails when batching because of the saving as a jpeg step.
I've almost finished the picture but I'll use either unsharpen or high pass. Which do I chose? or you use the another tool from the filter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes the "high pass sharpening" subdue color saturation of the images? I was creating a photo collage type of art in InDesign. I also used Photoshop to sharpen and resize each individual images.
I used High Pass sharpening with Edge Masks. After readjusting the images in photoshop I saved them with new names and relinked the new file to the InDesign. When I relinked the new image, there was a noticeable degradation of color saturation. The images looked sharper but a lot more grayer or muddish. In photoshop, I didn't change the color space.
So I wondered if the High Pass filter alters the color saturation. Here is the link to my photoshop actions that I used to create the sharpening effect. what caused the color shift in my file
I tried to use the lens flare filter in Photoshop CS6.While the lighting effect is interesting, it introduces ugly artifacts like blue or orange blobs (which are supposed to be the reflection of the diaphragm, but do not look anywhere close to that, but instead are just cheesy looking blobs of color).
In the "movie prime" setting blue lines are added which have nothing to do with lens flar.On top of it, the preview is about the size of a stamp. Any way to use the filter without getting these artifacts, or is it - what I assume - just a useless toy filter, that has probably been dragged on for years and years because it's always been there? What do you use to create a lens flare effect? Are you just building it from scratch with brush work?
camera raw filter does not show up on the filter drop list on CC. I am trying to determine why this is the case. So far everything else seems to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've deleted my PS preferences and restarted, and I cannot get this filter to do what is was just doing a day earlier. It doesn't matter what the foreground/background colors are, nor does it matter what the resolution of the file is. I've experimented with every variable. The filter effect changes the filled layer to a solid color of the current foreground color. No lines, dots or circles at all.
I'm trying to make lines in a filled layer, or a rasterized text layer.Adjusting the sliders has no effect at this point, but the other Gallery filters DO work, oddly enough.
I've used this filter effect many times over the years, and it just started acting wonky. This is PS CS6, on Mac OSX 10.8.5.It seems to be unpredictable or temperamental. Is there a reasonably-priced plugin that will create lines that are completely adjustable?
I recently upgraded from Photoshop CS3 to CS6. The patch tool did not appear to work as well in CS4 or CS5 and CS6 appears just as bad.

CS6 Normal;
CS6 Content Aware.
CS3 is MUCH better.
my setup is: Pentax K20/80-200,2.8 Star ED, dual studio flashes with semitransparent white umbrellas, X-rite color proofing card, CS5, Syncmaster 214T with Spyder2 for calibration and Epson R2400 with all the proper ICC profiles..trying to repro an artwork with many nuances, particulary blue, red and yellow, the red one will show properly. The red gets smeary and too red.
The artwork has a little more of blue in it but that does not show up in the print, just on screen. The difference from screen to paper is too big for my taste (calibrated the day before). I've recently repaired the monitor with better quality capacitors to enhance performance.
I use glossy Epson paper. Also the blue seems to bleed when printed. Resolution of picture is 360dpi as recommended by Epson. I use "keep sharp edges"when enlarging it from the original 240dpi. This has the effect of retaining the colors at least on screen. Sharp image = more pure colors.
I am trying to make a logo. I have it complete but I do not likethat the text looks a little pixilated. I want to make the text look good, in other words make it look High Quality.

View 1 Replies View Relatedso i`ve scanned some pics, and simply used ps to crop them and when i`ve printed them off they`re quite pixilated, especially when they did`t seem that bad on the screen on ps. on the print set up the quality levels are all high photo quality level, so that should`nt be a problem. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop CS4 running on a 8 gig Vista 64 bit system. When I click on Filters, there is no Extract Filter. I did a search prior to posting and saw some threads talking about not moving files, icons etc from their original folder. I am un sure if anything has been moved. However, when I click on Filters, they all seem to be there (at least not greyed out), EXCEPT for the Extract filter. Any help would be apprecited and if you let me know where the filters should reside I can make sure they are in the correct location.
