Photoshop :: Force Image To Open In Center Of Workspace?
Apr 10, 2012
Is there any way to set a preference so that when I open an image from my Finder (Mac) it opens in the center of my Application Frame workspace rather than always docked to the top left corner?
When I drag a 3600x3600 px image onto a 3600x3600 px canvas, my image gets placed on the canvas with it's center at 1803,1803 px. So it's off just a tiny bit. When I place an image smaller than 3600x3600 px, it gets placed on the canvas with its center at 1802,1802 px or 1802.5,1802.5 px It's not terribly difficult to center it after it's placed, but I'd rather not spend the 5 seconds or so every time I place an image if I don't have to.
In PS CS5 when I open an image with height dimension in range of 1405-1411 or 1873-1882, the image opens half off the bottom of the screen. Width does opt seem to matter.
I assume this is a bug, but until fixed I am trying to work around.
For manual editing the vertical fit screen button or zooming out causes the image to come on screen, but is neither of these display options will record in an action.
When an image is opened half off screen, a Place command does not place accurately for these images. Thus an action that includes a Place does not run correctly for these images.
So either I want to find a setting (nothing in preferences that I can find) to force the image to open on screen, or find a command that will run in an action that causes image to come on screen, while not interefering with images that open normally.
is there a way to have the profile be on 2d drafting already as yoju open a new file or should you always open a new file and then change the profile from architecture to 2d drafting?
I have purchased CS6 and I am having problems with the 64-bit version. After I open it completely freezes and I have to force close it. This happens every time I open it. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it multiples times. I didn't have this issue with CS5. I am running this on a Mac 10.6.8, Processsor 2.8 with 8GB memory.
I'm not new to lightroom. In every photo I go in to edit with the tools (any of them/all of them) my cursor only appears as the tool along the edge of my workspace. Once I move the cursor into about a half inch (on the computer screen) into the workspace my cursor becomes an arrow again, not allowing me to edit except for on the edges. I mean, I can drag the portion of the picture into the area in the workspace that allows my cursor to function as a tool, but this is not easy nor is it preferable in any way.
You could do this in CS5, but it doesn't seem possible in CS6. It's a bit clunky when dragging from one file to another in the tab mode. I liked having the workspace open side by side.
In previous PS versions I could see my open files as thumbnails at the bottom of my workspace instead of tabs at the top. I would love to keep using that workflow- can this be selected somehow?
how do I get raw NEF files (from Nikon) to open in the edit workspace of elements 8? I have windows 7 , and when I try to open NEF raw files from the viewer, it says cannot recognize the file type.
iMac 27' OS Lion CS4 - I have built a new custom workspace where I have about 10 palettes permanently on the desktop and unlike my older Mac G5 running Tiger, when I open an image file it occupies the whole screen (depending on original size) and is occupying space also under the palettes. I would like for the image to open or if not open then when I keystroke cmd+0 for 'fit screen' so it only occupies the area of the screen that is free.
When I try to drag an image out of project bin to an image in the workspace my program crashes. I have reinstalled the program but still doing this. All updates are done and I'm at a loss as what to do.
I just downloaded 2013 Autocad for MAC and I can't manage to see my drawing toolbars and also don't know where to find workspace settings to change my workspace to autocad classic.
I am trying to go from the 3D Modeling workspace to the 2D workspace without the XYZ coordinate gizmo on the drawing screen (just want to see the XY ucs) to work in 2D format.
I have opened an image that was created with adobe illustrator. In this image there is a white border around the page. This causes that when i place an object on the edge of the page I only see the part of the object that is on the page. I like this very much.
But when I start a new project, the white border isn't there. How i can switch this ting on?
I can open PSP X4 and edit and process images as desired. My workspace opens to Edit, as I've located that menu selection. I do not have any saved workspace configurations/files. Based on what I've read in the few hundred messages so far, I'd like to avoid a full reset of the program defaults, but if that's the only option, so it goes.
What is happening is that in as-yet undetermined situations, I get an automatic load of an old image. I've been able to recognize that the image that happens to load is the first one in the tray on the Manage tab. I don't use the Manage tab at all and only ventured over there as part of the preliminary diagnostic process to posting this message. Once I discovered that, I renamed the image in the tray and the sequence repeated with the next image in the tray, which repositioned itself to the first location.
I can "force" an auto-load in the edit window simply by starting with an empty edit window, clicking on the Manage tab and then back to the edit window. The first image in the tray magically appears. This magic also happens when I've closed another image that's been loaded. Of course, now that I'm posting this, I can't make it happen other than in the manner described above.
I'd like to have it so when I close the image in the edit window that I'm left with a blank edit window on a consistent basis. If I can determine how the image auto-loads in a manner different than described above, I'll add it here.
I recently updated computer and installed inventor 2012 and the updates. Loaded ok
Opened project and tried to place parts from content center, nothing happened. I mean nothing. Could not even open configure Content center library in projects. I am running windows 7, 32 bit. window
I'm a photoshop noob but am learning fast. I'm having a bit of trouble doing something that I imagine to most of you is quite straight forward.
Basically, I have a square image (3000px x 3000px) and I want to cut out an exact circle from the centre of the picture. So I choose the Ellipitcal marquee tool and place my cursor approximately in centre of the picture, hold down SHIFT and ALT and drag to the desired circle size. Next I press V to bring up the alignment toolbar hoping that I could centre the selection to the exact middle of the picture but I can't. PS won't allow me to select any of the alignment buttons.
After this I want to take the CUT image and paste as a new image so that I have a just the circle and it's contents and no rectangular background. I'm sure PASTE will do this but I can't get this far.
I want to blend and tone the center image (mostly the wood panels) so it looks somewhat compatible with the images on the side. I did one botched job of working on the file for a few hours, and didn't save it in my earlier stages, to my regret. It's all one image.
I just got a new Lightscribe drive and I have been having a field day making custom labels for old data discs. Now I have decided I want to make some backups of some of my games so I can put the original discs/boxes into storage finally.
The problem with this is that Lightscribe discs have a larger "unprintable" radius at the center of the disc that other media. I found that when I scanned some of my discs and imported them directly into the LS Print program I was losing alot of information/text/pictures.
Essentially I need to take a point in the center of the circle and 'stretch' it outward in a circular pattern. (If you have seen Ace Venctura 2, think about when he had to escape from his mechanical rhino-spy vehicle through its bum I have also attached an image so you can see exactly what I mean. The read circle in the middle is approximately where the most inner edge of a LS disc can begin to print.
where to even begin as far as keywords go. I do realize that there will be a certain degree of 'smushage' (technical term) on my final product, but I would rather keep the original disc look than having to make my own custom disc for each game.
I am using photoshop elements. I would like to scan in a book cover, and make it appear on a white background and center the picture do the white background surrounds the image. Is this done by some layer? How do I do this? Its a shame I could not attached the image, which I would like my scanned cover book to be like.
I notice in the latest version of PSE, they have added a checkbox Center IMage to the PSE prnter driver. In previous version there was no option to drag an image to another part of the page.
But when I uncheck Center Image in PSE 11 I am still unable to drag the image to a differnet location on the page. Am I missing something? What function does this checkbox have if I am unable to drag a picture elsewhere on the page?
Windows Explorer set to open image files with PSE11, but when I double click on image in WE it launches PSE11, but I then need to click on Open tab in PSE11 to get it into work window. PSE10 did not have this problem
Since upgrading to AutoCAD LT 2011 I cannot use the Design Center for inheriting objects such as layers, blocks etc between drawings. I have a few different drawings open which are displayed in the tree view of the 'open drawings' tab in the Design Center. But the objects of the drawings are not displyed. No +-sign in front of the drawing name, no icons in the icon field, just a summary at thebottom saying '0-items'.
how to put a center line on an open ended slot. Say in the front view you can see the radius of the slot with horizontal tangents running to the end of the object; this isn't the problem. When creating the top view, you only see one hidden line indicating the arch, but the other side is just open to the end. You have no means of finding bisectors.
I've added a jpg file, looking for the center line in the top view.
If you forgot to install DIN libraries during your original configuration:
Directly from your installation media, copy the relevant IDZ file to the Content Center library location on your PC. The IDZ file is an archived (zipped) IDCL file.
The question is, how I supposed to extract this zipped file?
