AutoCAD LT :: Objects In Open Drawings Not Visible In Design Center
Dec 25, 2011
Since upgrading to AutoCAD LT 2011 I cannot use the Design Center for inheriting objects such as layers, blocks etc between drawings. I have a few different drawings open which are displayed in the tree view of the 'open drawings' tab in the Design Center. But the objects of the drawings are not displyed. No +-sign in front of the drawing name, no icons in the icon field, just a summary at thebottom saying '0-items'.
I've tried dragging layers across drawings using the design center interface, but what I've noticed is that while the layer in question gets copied over, the layer is empty. The objects within the layer do not get copied over. How do I copy objects AND layers that I've selected across drawings using Autocad Design Center?
In older versions of AutoCAD they had sample drawings in Design Center with blocks that were useful. They included a drawing for Home Space PLanning, Landscaping, etc. where these files or blocks are found in 2013? I want to use some of the sample blocks that I had access to in older versions of AutoCAD.
I'm a new user of AutoCAD. I am creating a template, but when I try to drag or copy and paste the layers. blocks, dimstyles, multileaderstyles, etc. from design center, a message pops up that the parameter is incorrect, or it would just not drag and drop. I have the original drawing open as instructed, but nothing seems to work.
Two computers with Inventor Pro 2011 on them, same set up in Apllication Options/Content Center and Apllication Options/File. On one Inventor sees Content Center on the other does not. What could be the problem?
I noticed today that in some drawing files I cannot see the selection box (clicking in a blank area and moving the cursor). I am still able to select things this way, both crossing and inclusive, but I just can't see where the cursor is or the selection box. In other drawings this works as it should with the blue and green boxes visible.
Under options>Display, the colors are set correctly. Under Drafting the aperture slider is at about halfway, but the preview is blank. Under Selection the pickbox size is at a fifth of the way up, but the preview is blank.
I have tried updated my graphics driver to the newest (and AutoCAD recommended) driver.
I have never written a script but I figure this task is a good place to start. We currently have almost 8,000 files that all use different dimension styles, leader styles, layers and layouts. (All before I got here) I have successfully used the design center to where we can open an old drawing then go through and add all of the new 'standard styles, layouts, and layers'
can I write a script that will add all of these at once. It is not that it is that terrible of a job to do, but like I said my thought is it will be a good way to learn more about scripts, and we have a lot of drawings this needs to happen with.
Since I switched to Inventor 2010 Pro, I've been seeing an issue I can't find resolution to. If I have an assembly that is one purchased part, I shrinkwrap it and place it as a part. Been doing that since shrinkwrap first appeared. For some reason some of my shrinkwrapped parts, though set to invisible in the assembly, (I am using association and representations, saving, locking and all that nice stuff), still show in the drawings. Even more insane is that the visibility is off in the drawing. Yet, there it is, big as life. My only fix so far has been to revert back to the assembly instead of the shrinkwrapped part.
I have an assembly that I want to put some wires in, but every time I create a wire between pins, or a segment, or anything through the Cable and Harness tool, the centerlines don't show up. The rendered wires can appear, but without any sort of way to get at the centerline, I can't set its path or anything like that.
I was wiring up components no problem in a sub assembly, but for some reason it just won't work in my top level assembly. I thought it might be a problem with how I added pins to the components, but even trying to create a wire between 2 connectors from the content center gave the exact same results.
Why do some drawings show in later drawings even through I have them set to invisible? I cannot find a consistent reason and the only way to "fix" it seems to be to delete the old drawing and redo it.
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0008 exception at 1286aebh
I had been getting fatal errors on opening the program with the very same message. That has since passed but now it is happening when I try and open ADCENTER either at the command line or the ribbon button.
I cannot get the DC Online tab to show on the Design Center. I have enabled it through the CAD manager Control Utility. I have shut down CAD and restarted it and still no tab.
We have both 2012 and 2013 AutoCAD at work, and both versions are having the same problem. When adding favorites in Design Center, it does not show up. The shortcut is actually there if I browse using Windows Explorer, but it does not show up in Design Center. I guess this is some issue where shortcuts do not show up, which is beyond me because that is how the Favorites system is supposed to work.
I should add, this is not an issue on some of our older machines running AutoCAD 2009.
I am trying to bring in a block from the design center and some of the parts that were created as the block are not showing up. If there is a layer setting or another setting in the drawing that I am missing?
Can I take a block that is currently in my drawing and put it into a tool palette? I know how to move blocks from the Design Center to a Tool Palette but I don't know how to get my blocks into the Design Center.
Scenario: We use a number of different fasteners in our drawings but they aren't the fasteners that are currently in the Design Center under "fasteners". I am manually redrawing the same fasteners each time I start a new drawing.
I have a drawing with 3 table styles I've saved that I can usually insert into my drawings using design center when I need them. Normally all three come in fine, occasionally only two will come in. I have a drawing that I am trying to insert my table styles into and none of them are inserting! I don't know if there's a setting preventing this command or what.
My design center has the content of my entire computer on it. How do I adjust it so that only the general blocks are present on there, such as doors, plants, etc.?
i can't drag a block from the design center into any drawing. i have to go into the design center right click on the block, click copy, then go back to my drawing and paste the block. this has just started happen, before i was able to drag and drop with no problem. there is no error message the only thing that happens when i try to drag a block from the design center is when i'm back in the drawing the cross hair has a circle.
Everytime I try to place a #8 machine screw type II screw from the content center I get a Design Accelerator Doctor error saying: "Modeling: Failed to insert a part into assembly!".
But if I place a Type I machine screw it works fine. Also if I replace the Type I screw with the Type II (the one I have a problem with) it replaces it no problem. So basically if I want to place a #8 Type II screw I have to place a Type I and then replace it with the Type II..
