Photoshop Elements :: Sort Thumbnail View Alphabetically?

View 1 RepliesIn LR5 I wish to sort by file name. However my camera names files as ABC123, ABC124, ABC125 etc etc. Lightroom sorts such names as ABC3, ABC2, ABC5 etc because the numeral part of the name is looked as as an ascii not a numeral. I think!!
However whatever the reason, sorting such file names doesn't work. As each import may consist of several hundred files, renaming manually to avoid numerals isn't an option.
Is there a naming system that can be automated that would result in this type of sorting resulting in what a human would expect?
Filenames such as Garden(1), Garden(2) etc are no better by the way.
Is there a way I can sort the columns in the dashboard alphabetically? Normally you just click the title in these windows to toggle the way it sorts it, but you cannot do that with this tool. Its making my cut/fill report look messy, as the surface volumes are not in any order.

I know I can do this in Windows Explorer, but it's important that I be able to do this in PSE, because I have a lot of files, and managing them is getting time-consuming.
When I'm working in PS CS and open a folder of pictures it always reverts to List view even though I exited last time in Thumbnail view. How can I set it to open in Thumbnail view by default?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I view the thumbnail picture on a .psd file in CS6. All I get is a blue box with psd/PS on it instead of the picture that's on that file. This is very annoying because if I'm looking for a specific .psd file I have to look on my picture viewing software, find out what the file name is and then pull it up on photoshop. I have CS3 and I have no problem seeing the picture.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen searching for files I've worked on using File>Open in CS6, the List view of the folder no longer shows a thumbnail of the file. This is ridiculous, as every other version of Photoshop has had it, and everyone is complaining.
Why isn't Adobe responding to this? With the frequency with which we have to update to be able to update rather than buying the entire version, we shouldn't be losing functionality in the program. How about it Adobe?????
I'm trying to sort a structured Bom View through .Net Api in Inventor 2012. I'm using Sort method of BOM View object. I don't get any error but BOM isn't changed after this call.
I've tried :
oBv.Sort("Item") or oBv.Sort("Item", False)
oBv.Sort("Part Number") or oBv.Sort("Part Number", False)
I can get the thumbnail view of the active document from below code

I am using windows 7 64bit and I have install Corel X5 & X6 both on my machine. When there was only corel x5 installed I was able to see thumbnaill view of CDR files in windows explorer but now when I have install x6 I am unable to see CDR file's thumbnail view.
View 3 Replies View Relatedon WinXp and i think Max 8, you used to be able to see a max file as a thumbnail in windows. This meant if you wanted to merge a character, for instance, you didn't have to click though 50 files whilst looking at the preview window, you just viewed the folder by thumbnail and quickly grabbed the right file.
After going to max 9 (again, not too sure on versions) and vista we lost that ability, I posted around at the time but found no solutions.
So, I'm on windows 7 64 bit now and Max 2011 and was curious if this feature was ever fixed or even addressed/dismissed formally by Autodesk?
In the newest version of Paint.net how do you get the thumbnail view to be the default type of view when opening a file in Windows XP? Instead it always defaults to LIST view when you open the program. In my current old version 3.2 it saved the last view 'state' you used but this is gone in the newer versions - at least since 2008.
Windows by default saves the last view 'state' of a folder when last accessed and the old version of Paint.net also had this windows behavior. MS Word, Excel, ect.. also has this behavior and saves the last open file view state you used. Paint.net does not respect the windows folders default view state - it uses its own and defaults it to LIST every time.
I have not been able to upgrade Paint.net for years because LIST view is worthless when viewing hundreds of pictures. Is there any way to get the default windows behavior back or is there a setting that saves the file open view state?
there, after the upgrade to 3d max 2012, we have a problem. The Thumbnail view on Explore is little strange.

Is it possible to sort all pictures view in library to have the oldest pix at the bottom, newest at the top, numbered upwards from the bottom?
View 9 Replies View Relatedis it possible to show thumbnails of a clip in the timeline like this one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking at my thumbnails in Library mode. How to I determine which was the last image I edited?
I edit my images in sequence. Often I need to leave a particular set of images to work soemwhere else in LR. On returning I need to easily see which was the last image I edited so I can continue in the sequence. At the moment I go into develop mode and check in the history. That though is a long way round.
When using Content Centre, in the Favourite’s section, the Tree View will not default to Thumbnail View. Every time I close the Content Centre it reverts back to Tree View.

Why not have a swipe option for the Record viewer on the right side in Thumbnail View and allow locking the source thumbnails to sync with each other - Flame style (just no Reel view). If this could be saved with the current folder view it would largely cover a toolset comment I made before plus another great way to edit quickly.
who said that for editing there should only be one source window ? Why not multiples ? In fact, isn't that a large part of editing in the first place ? Allow multiple selections in the thumbnail view and link the sources together, select a point in the timeline and go to town for checking your editorial options.
This is really about gaining a functionality that’s around in AVID and used extensively by editors I’m trying to get on board with considering smoke as a real alternative. The Reel Locking mechanism in Flame is a great tool that could be expanded upon massively and brought into smoke via synched/locked multiple selection in the thumbnail view.
And another - The ability to see an edit as thumbnail view that can be re-arranged so you can group shots per your own liking but still allows drag and drop FX. This would allow another view on an edit that is incredibly powerful for many functions but color correction an obvious one. If you could save these 'views' you could have a fantastic basis for management.
Im supposed to have a slider that allows me to change the size of my thumbnails.
I cant figure out how to get it back on my UI.
Where is the menu that tells it to show on the interface?
i'm a hobby sports photographer. I shot lots of fast series. After an import into organizer pics with same time stamp are arranged in random order so the series get mangled. It is no fun to bring back the correct sequence by hand for hundereds of pictures. Slideshows, Video etc. are senseless.
A simple "sort by name" would solve this. So, how to sort by name?
In previous PSE(8/9/10), after change to folder view in EO, the files/Photo in folder selected will be sorted automatically by name, but I cannot sort by other methods (no [Sort By]).
However, in PSE11, folder view has gone. I can sort by Newest, Oldest and Import Batch. but I want to know how can I do auto-sort-by-name?
I can view a thumbnail of the file, but the file will not open.
I created it in Corel 11, and tried to open it also in 13 and X5, but I get a message Error Reading
Why is the thumbnail border for some images a different color in grid view? Please see the attached image. I can't figure out why the image on the left is a lighter gray than the two in the middle. The far right image is lighter because it is selected.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to PSE 11 from PSE 9. I actually did this by buying a new comptuer and putting PSE 11 on the new computer. I used the Windows File and settings transfer wizard to move all my files to the new comptuer. So inside MyPictures folders, they are in the same location as in the old comptuer. But when I soft by date order, it sorts by the date of the file (which seems to be random based on when windows copied the file to the new comptuer) instead of the created date.
Furthermore, on the old comptuer, in PSE9, i set the date and time of each picture so it would be right. This seemed to set the created date (which was missing for a lot of my scans or was the date of the scan) and made the PSE9 organizer sort them correctly. Seriously, are people expected to do that months of work again every time they move to a new computer? or am I suppose to have tell my wife, "deal with seeing your kid's pictures in random order -- Adobe thinks that is best."
Is there a way to set all the timestamps in windows to the created date of the picture in one swoop?
Using PSE 11. I am trying to sort my photos in order Newest first. I select Sort by: Newest and they are sorted in newest DATE order but within each date they are sorted on oldest time order, which seems odd... how can I get PSE to sort so that Newest is based on date and time?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI notice that in PSE11 Organiser, it is not possible to sort images by "filename". As this is such a fundamental feature in any file manager, I assume that this must be an oversight and not intentional.
