Why can't I open a file in Elements Editor 11 for Mac by dragging the file onto the Elements icon in the dock? I have been using previous versions of Elements for many years and this has always worked.
View 1 RepliesI'm writing because after reinstall the Mountain Lion (10.8.4), I realized that dragging an image from Chrome (29.0. 1547. 62) to the dock icon Photoshop CS6 the icon is not active and therefore the program does not open with the image, I tried with firefox (23.0.1) and the dock icon photoshop is animated and open photoshop but show the following message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." I tried with SAFARI and all fine, without problems. I note that before reinstallation and after doing a clean install (I do a back up, I formated the hard drive and install the mountain lion) this option worked perfect.
I check the following path ~ / Library / Caches / TemporaryItems that is where store the pictures as you take the browser and when stored in the folder but never open photoshop, I want to emphasize that opening photoshop and open a blank canvas, I can drag and drop (drag and drop) and the image appears, but with the dock icon anymore.
I have many theories but also not solve:
1. It's a permissions problem.
2. Any option is not enabled (OS X or photoshop) or not installed
3. Some kind of incompatibility, but again and worked without problems.
I have replaced the icon on the dock and run disk utilites I still can not drag a file on to the icon on the dock to open it, any other suggstions.

It is possible to place photos etc between clips by dragging to icon.
This is is Sceneview & I take it that Quick in Elements 7 is similar.
There are no such icons in Elements 11 and all atempts to get photos places these at end and then these have to be moved.
i have the PSCC icon on the desktop but I cannot make it go on the Mac dock. Is there a way to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop dock icon disappeared since the Retina update? Just to be clear, it hasn't just removed itself from the Dock. There's an empty space and when moused over it says Adobe Photoshop CS6 but it's just a blank space. The icon is missing from the Applications folder too.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was trying to make an after effects icon on the dock ( I have a MacBook pro running mavericks )I have a subscription to the creative cloud - and have downloaded after effects CS6 . but....
Now when I try to open one of my After effects projects it says " Error message something about I need to uninstall the older version of after- effects and then it listed a preset ( blur) and when I close the window , there were approximately 30 similar windows with the same message , but a different preset,( blur this or that )
So like an idiot I went to my applications and dragged my after effects app icon to the trash ( there were two of them) and then emptied the trash- Now all my After effects files are greyed out with small green text that says "exec"
I cant open my AE(after effects) files, I went to the cloud to re-install it and it says it is alll updated , should I do a uninstall? How do I do that? can I do that and then re-install AE CS6?will adobe make me download the newer CC version?I don't want that version because all the computers at my school run CS6.
When I loaded some photo actions into my new PSE11 it show only a generic icon in the effects palette, not the icon from the maker so it takes extra time to search for the action I need. How can I get the icon from the maker to show as the icon in the palette?

If I import iPhoto photo’s directly within Organizer I loose photo information.

The workspace dock color is grey until I dock an image and then the color surrounding my image changes to black. This is occuring in the Full Edit Mode.

I created the buttons in a separate psd file and when I click and drag the buttons into the other canvas (my header) I'm having trouble when I click ctrl + alt + shift to duplicate the new buttons. Some layers are getting left behind. Should I flatten or merge the layers of the button before I click and drag the button into the other canvas (header)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?
I have a multi layer in my timeline , full graphic motion and long render. The base layer (layer 1) is a SOLID LAYER.
1. i select all that segment (multi layer) that has been rendered (yes, it's rendered). Now i drag it into my desktop (thumbnail view), but what happen is new clip is unrendered. So i have to re-render that clip. Why ?
2. i select all that layer, and collapse it ( contain selected). It collapse into a single clip but also i lost my render in my container. why ?
3. i mark in/out and create subclip. again i got the subclip but it's unrendered.
4. i mark in/out and drag into other timeline (same setting). and the pasted segment has no render file.
Can I get a sound effect to confirm the dragging and dropping of a file into a collection? I can see the file count increase but a confirmation sound would be very useful.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI saw that the file icons of the PNG files are not the blue ones (like we all know them, after installing Photoshop CS3), but the default Windows (I'm using Windows XP SP3) icons. I mean like when I don't have a program to open a given file, that is how it looks like. But when I double click on the PNG file it opens right away, so in my eyes there is a problem, of some kind, with the ICO file itself. The strangest thing is that this ICO file is not missing, deleted or moved! This happened only with the PNG files. All other Photoshop related files are ok and have their respective icons. how to change the PNG file icon, so I can choose manually the ICO file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to make some transparent icons for an application I have built, however I can't find the option to save as an icon in Photoshop or Illustrator, I have all the CS3 Standard Products.
Currently I am copying an image from Illustrator to photoshop, I set the background type to Transparent, and I save that file out in photoshop as a PNG, and then I use a program called Ifranview, to save that PNG as an icon, however, instead of being transparent, it has a black background, so I am hoping there is an option in one of the CS3 Standard products, or something else that can save an icon out as transparent.
If I save a Camera Raw manipulated image as a COMPRESSED (LOSSLESS) DNG file it appears back in CS3 Bridge as a DNG Icon and not as a thumbnail.Is there a reason for this and can I get the saved file to appear as a thumbnail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I purchased Photoshop Elements 12, went through the installation process, and it should be ready to begin editing. However, whenever I attempt to open Photoshop, nothing happens. My OS is Windows 7; I click the icon onmy taskbar, and the cursor shows that it is loading, the icon is highlighted, but then the loading symbol stops and the icon highlight disappears. When I attempt to open a file using PSE, the loading banner appears, but shortly thereafter, I receive an alert saying "Photoshop Elements 12 Editorhas stopped working" and under it, it says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" and the only available option it "Close program." I had this exact issue with PSE 7, and figured that purchasing an updated version might fix this problem. Evidently, I was mistaken. This is a very serious issue, as I am a graphic designer (creating logos, posters, programs, etc) and use Photoshop for this purpose. I have been using Elements for years, but only recently has this problem arisen. This is, of course, infuriating, as I have paid $70 for a program that doesn't even work.

The icon shouls be a full icon similar to the following (I know this is an After Effects icon - but is just to show an example of what I meant by a full file icon).
