Photoshop :: Elements Organiser Vs Bridge
Jul 28, 2009When connecting my camera PS offers the Elements download facility and then loads Organiser. In Organiser I can tag files. In Bridge I can see files, including these photofiles, but the tags applied by Organiser don't show although it (Bridge) would allow me to add key words. I am trying to understand the difference between Organiser and Bridge so I can decide which one to use. Are there any advantages and disadvantages to using either of these with photos, and since I will use Bridge for other files should I stick to that for everything or will Organiser offer me something additional that is not available in Bidge? Is there a way for the Organiser applied tags to be seen in Bridge?

Aug 17, 2009I have been tempted by Adobe to upgrade from PSE5 to CS4 at a reasonable price. I have about 6,000 individually named photos in pse5 organiser / pse5 "collections". If I upgrade to CS4 what do I need to do to process these organiser/collections images in CS4?
Is there a way to transfer all these files, and keep their names/metadata, to CS4? In pse5 "organiser" I can locate any photo by typing in a key word from the photo title; can I do this in CS4 using my present pse5 files?

Feb 21, 2008trouble applying a displacement filter to my flattened images. I think i know how to create the displacement map. I right click on any one colour channel; duplicate it; save as a new channel; and save this new b&w image as my disp. map.
But then i go back to the image that i want 'displaced', click on the appropriate layer, go to Filter>Distort>Displace, click OK on the little dialog box and then open the previously created disp. map. Then nothing happens.
i have CS3 Production Premium installed.

Jun 28, 2008After just reading all 146 messages in the topic, "No more ImageReady in CS3 - VERY FRUSTRATING", I am seriously bummed, but left with unanswered questions.
Specifically, has anyone found a cheap, practical alternative for creating simple image maps with polygonal click regions? I want to create an actual map, where you click on a city name and go to a web page on that city. Rectangles do not work, as the real world regions are not shaped that way -- it has to be polygons. Nor do I want the map to be physically sliced apart and reassembled with table elements. I just want to use the HTML map
and area tags.
Photoshop 7 (my last version) could do this simple, useful task. My Photoshop CS3 "upgrade" cannot.
creates simple map & area image maps -- or perhaps an add-in or standalone? Something other than a $300 piece of otherwise useless (for my purposes) bloatware.

Nov 9, 2005What I am looking for is some sort of plugin that takes the tediousness out of it and lets you preview it in realtime.
An ideal plugin would be able to do the following:
-view the source image - image to be displaced.
- View composite image preview(what you see in photoshop when the disp map is applied)
- View Displacement Map preview - hopefully these would be side-by side
I have an image of a face, and an image of text and I want that text to look like it is wrapped onto the face.
Select the face image (ctrl-A) & open the plugin. THis becomes the composite (preview) image
Next to that is the Disp. map. In this case I would check a box that says "use composite as displacement map" It would greyscale the image of the face, and that would be the height/depth disp. map whihc I could then fine tune.
Next to that would be where the image to be displaced is. I open up the image file of the text.
Now I see in the "Composite image" the text wrapped around the face, following the contours of the face. I can adjust the levels of the disp map to create a more dramatic or more subtle effect. WHen I'm finished I click OK.
The "file to be displaced" (in this case, the text image) can also be "same as composite"
If you have ever seen this image where it looks like a photo of a crowd taken from above, but it almost looks liek the height of the people forms Bill Clintons face, this is what this would be used for.
The composite would be the photo of the crowd. The disp map is the photo of clinton's face. SInce the displaced image and the Composite image are the same (via checkbox), you just hit apply after adjusting your disp map. It applies the disp map to the selected original image, and the lights & darks displace the original and give it that look that I just described.
- click to open a source file for the disp. map. - ideally I would be able to open even a color jpg, and it would convert it to greyscale upon opening in the plugin window.
- ability to use the selection (preview composite image) as a displacement map rather than saving & opening it up
- invert the greyscale disp map.
- ability to adjust levels of the alpha/disp map in the preview window in order to darken the darks, etc.
- ability to resize/rescale the dispmap in the preview window. THen in realtime or close to realtime I would see the results in the Source Image preivew window. This way I can shrink or grow the disp map to fit my selection if need be
- Ability to grab the disp map and move it around in order to precisely line it up against the preview image

I had to send my laptop back to HP for repair. They replaced my Optical Drive and did a complete System Reinstall. I got my laptop back this past Monday, May 13. I reinstalled most of my programs and some of my pictures folders. I also reinstalled my Elements 7 and everything was working great.

Problem A -
On Tuesday, I reinstalled CS6 and that's when my problems started. CS6 took over all my PSE files, so I chose to "always open with PSE" option. Now all I have, instead of a nice, blue PSE icon I have a white paper with a smaller PSE icon in the center. Â

Also, some of my fonts seem to have disappeared - now when I open a PSE file I get a msg that the font is missing and that I need to choose another font (something like that, I forgot to write it down)

Problem B -
Today I was trying to open some Vector files and I couldn't find the option to make them into PNG files.  And, the Editor froze up twice! and twice I had to force-quit my computer.

Questions
1 - Why are my PSE icons showing up like a "page" as shown above?
2 - Is there a way to get my regular icon back?
3 - Where did my Fonts go and how can I get them back?
4 - Why can't I save my images as PNG?
5 - Why is CS6 freezing up?

Oct 27, 2013I have the trial version of 12. I set up the E Mail to the Adobe Mail Server. I do not use Outlook, but G Mail. I received a verification code, and put it in. it seemed to accept that. However, whenever I try to use Photo Mail or E mail attachment all I get is a small blue circle spinning. No E Mail going out.I still have 10 on my desktop and the E Mail is working perfectly.

Nov 30, 2012I have installed PSE 11 and PRE 11 on my PC, running windows 8 64 bit. The programs were already running fine for several days but suddenly the organizer wont work. As soon as i start the program it starts up and disappears some seconds later. I only can see it in task manager as a process running in the background! When I start the editor first and afterwards the organizer (out from the editor) then the organizer stays and I'm able to work with. De- and Re-installation already done, several times.

Dec 5, 2012I just bought PSE 11 and have installed it on my computer. I am trying to right click on a file and use the "Open With" option to open the jpg in the program. However, the program opens but not the photo. I can open files within the program by going to "File - Open" just fine. The program that is on the "Open With" list isn't the right one (it's Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 rather than PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe). However, when I try to browse to and select the correct file it doesn't show up when I get back to the "Open With" screen. I've tried uninstall and reinstall. I've also tried using the program on another user and it works fine there but I don't want to switch all of my info to another user just to open photos. Photos open just fine in PSE 9 with the "Open With" method.Â

Apr 26, 2013I am working with Photoshop Elements 10. Am creating a photobook.I saved the book as xxxxx.pse so I can go back to it and open back up to complete my editing and print as a book but when I go to reopen it, the folder is the name of the file xxxxx and when I open the folder, all the pages are in the folder as .psd files... which one .psd file is two pages.. but cannot do a print of the pages it wants to print each file as one page... so it cuts off part of the file or it shrinks down the two pages to make it one page. how do you open these pages back up so you can edit them and print as a book.I am going to have to start my project all over and it was a three hour project rearranging my pics and how they look on the page and now have to do it all over again... Â

How do I apply a dual-channel map? Do I save the Red (right to left) and Green (up to down) as separate .psd and then apply them or is there some other way?

I previously downloaded Elements 11 Editor from Mac iTunes Store, this version does not come with Organizer. I then found I had a copy of organizer with Premiere Elements 11. After install I can use both products fine, but cannot use edior to edit my photos from the Organizer. The message "the feature you selected requires adobe photoshop elements" appears.

Windows 7 64 bit
Everything up to date
I imported my existing data’s in the standard catalogue

Face Detection "manually" performed.

On the first day (program start) no success with it.

The following day (new trial) this function was of (even very) good use.
Â
To improve the duration and clarity I only scanned a single folder (no album!). Important: while doing that, I noticed that in a tray at the bottom a "circle" has gone around. Later I found out that this is the creation of thumbnails. So for sure this "thumb-nailing" was not completed! But it worked...

Yesterday I started the program at new. No possibility for a face recognition. So I startet completely at new, creating a new catalogue, and importing all data’s at new. Deleting the „old“ catalogue. Overnight then automatically create the miniaturization alone.

This morning, same procedure: a single image selected (with enough easily recognizable faces), and start the face recognition. During a very brief moment, a small pop on the screen is visible, where I can see a progress bar filling up. But no faces suggested to set a name on it.
Photoshop Elements :: Program Stopped Working All Together
Nov 24, 2013When i open Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, which i have used for quite some time and its always worked, it now had a blank window pop up and it will no longer let me create new documents, open old ones or use any features. Basically it just freezes and doesn't even let me quit the program, i have to force quit it every time.
