Any comparison of the organization & cataloging between Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Lightroom?
I'm only interested in knowing how the photo management aspects of these to programs compare...
I recently got rid of my Canon GL1. before I did, I captured 30+ hours of footage using Premier Elements. Unfortunately, I cant view it without using premiere. All I want to do is save it as useable date for future editing in a format that is versatile as well as be able to catalog it easily.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Lightroom to catalog and develop my RAW files, and then create JPEG's for typical uses. But I don't end up with the JPEG's in my Lightroom catalog, and I think that would be useful finding the ones I want, the way I do with RAW files.
Is there a way to catalog both my RAW and JEPG files with Lightroom?
Elements 11 was just installed on my lap top and is crashing while using organization part of program. No error message.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have many PDF slideshows and PDF images. It seems that Lightroom will not read PDF files though... I recall that Bridge can read PDF files. I believe it would be a useful addition to LR to enable the viewing and cataloguing of PDF files.

I can import all the Picture files but they do not show up in folders. How can I import and keep current organization? Or, must I reorganize?
I am editing an image to match another completed version of the same image. When I bring in my working copy with some edits to the x/y window to compare, my working copy appears unedited.

Is it possible to organize your fonts under different categories (i.e. Sans Serif, Serif, Grunge, Cursive, etc) so that you can easily select them for a particular look?
For example,
While in Photoshop I write out some text and decide that for the application, a font with Serifs would be the best choice. Rather than scan through all the little samples of text in the dialog box, I would like all of the Serif fonts to be in one group, then all the Sans-Serif fonts in another, etc.
Is it possible to arrange fonts into folders as such? I've wondered if I can add folders to the Font directory, but I am unsure of the results and do not want to mess anything up.
Can you make Photoshop look in different folders for fonts? I don't know how to do this.
Other than that one idea I had was to rename all the fonts in the directory and group them through that method, i.e. "Serif_**fontname**" "Cursive_**fontname**" etc.
Lately I was asked to make organization chart for my assignment. Does Abode Photoshop finish my task? I means that does using this software have many step to do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently use Photoshop Elements 6 and am looking at an upgrade to PSE7 or CS. The editing superiority of CS over PSE is not going to win me over because frankly I won't use most of it. I hardly take full advantage of what PSE6 has to offer as it is. However one thing about PSE that I don't like is how slowly it performs batch file operations. For example moving images from one location to another or reconnecting "Missing" files is very slow. Also the catalog backup utility is so exceedingly slow that I use SyncToy to backup my photos and catalog data. I have about 30,000 images in my collection, and I’m not too keen on breaking them up into separate databases. One problem I may have is that I keep my photos on a network store instead of local, but I don't think that accounts for the huge lag times in batch operations. One thing that would get me to spend the extra money for CS is if the database is more responsive (much more responsive) and if it handles batch file operations better (much better).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the full CS Suite 3 and my issue is with the Photoshop aspect. It has worked for me beautifully for many years and, unfortunately, has come into a problem recently. When I select a color using the eyedropper tool (sample size 3 by 3 Average) it selects the color. Then, upon attempting to paint that color, it uses a color that is washed out by comparison. It selects the right color but the paint brush (I'm using the standard, 27 pixel soft brush, normal mode, 100% opacity, 100% flow) will not paint that color. It looks like it's adding more white to it or adding a muddled grey color. I'm not amused with this at all.
I'm not certain whether it is my having accidentially hit something as to make this happen or if it is the program glitching. I uninstalled and reinstalled and, unfortunately, am still finding the problem. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling again (this time deleting all the preferences) to see if that may fix it. It does this with multiple images (all .psd files, multiple layers) so I know that it's not the single file being corrupt.
I need to know the exact number of pixels that I select for a size comparison. It's a non-rectangular selection similar to a cloud.I'm using CS2 but could upgrade if needed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a project parameter called "Appears in Browser" as a "Yes/No" type for Views Categories. I created a custom Browser Organization for Views Filtered By "Appears in Browser" equal to "Yes"
This works great except for those views which are neither checked Yes or No... for instance any NEW view! I can get new views to appear by changing the filter to be equal to "None", but then the "Yes" views do not show up.
You would think if I set the filter to "Appears in Browser" NOT Equal to "No" this would solve the problem, but it does not.
I desperately want to change the "AND" logic to "OR" logic so I can have two filters set to "Appears in Browser" equals to "Yes" OR "Appears in Browser" equal to "None".
Two Questions:
1) Where Can I add this comment to a WISHLIST for future releases?
2) Is there any other way to acheive a "Yes" or "None" filter or filter to Show All but "No"
After a PURGE UNUSED it is impossible to create new LEGEND.

The land usually has multiple soil types, a max of 4 types A, B, C, D
I also need to track the impervious, grass and tree areas going to an unknown number of outfalls
The impervious area can be broken down into structures, roadway, parking lots, sidewalks and other
Also you need to have this information for your existing conditions and your impervious conditions.
Usually I just delineate everything and hatch them with a layer like C-IMPV-A for proposed impervious soil type A
I have also tried creating parcels to represent the areas delineated, but when you get a couple hundred parcels it gets confusing.
I've started playing with iray just to see how things should actually look so that I can compare it with MR renderings. The main error here is the dark shadows... Why they're so dark? Also interesting how mr has completely washed out the soffit of the walkway and notice how iray brings out the metallic qualities in the copper fascia.
Photographic exposure's used with a daylight system and MR image uses default GI and Draft FG.
If I have a site that I want to grade using two different configurations whats the proper hierarchy of everything? I am confused as to sites-grading groups-surfaces and how they mesh.
Concept A - Site with FFE of 471
Concept B - Site with FFE of 465
I need to create a corridor that has this section. So I'm using this assembly:
on which I put 3 conditional fill subassemblies on point A, one for fill conditions of more than 2 m that would daylight at 2:1 until it reaches 2 m down and then daylights at 1:3 until it reaches the EG. Then I have another for fill conditions of less than 2 m that only daylights at 2:1 to the EG, and the last one is for all cut conditions.
As expected I have the following problem in some stations that have fill conditions on A of less than 2 m but more than 2 m on B:
Is there any way I can make B the comparison point without having the following problem on cut conditions?
Or that I could create an assembly with the condition that when I have a fill of more than 2 m on point B it daylights, from point B, at 1:3; but when B would be on cut conditions it daylights from A?
I'm starting to develop some customization for Inventor, and I need to decide whether to use VBA, .net, addin, plugin, or what else.According to this post .net is easier to use than VBA: URL....
I did a quick test and I found out that with VBA is much easier to use than .net: you can edit the source code while debugging, you don't need to compile and install anything, everything seems to work much smoother.Do I risk to find out that VBA has problems later in the development?
Where can I find documentation with comparison between the different customization techniques?
I'm having a weird resolution problem with TRUE VIEW and AUTOCAD 2012.
I'm using Windows 7 ultimate 32 bits, i have a graphics card with 1900 x 1200 resolution.
As you can see below, the upper horizontal control pannel appears too big by comparaison with the workplace, and it's resolution is too poor.
The same thing happens with True view 2012.
I've just recently purchased PSP X4 since they touted that it was much faster loading and more stable (X3 was horrible about crashing). I continue to be amazed at how they (Corel) can just keep digging a hole instead of actually improving this product. I can see why they continue to lose market share.
1) I can no longer open mulitple images at the same time for side-by-side comparison. The work area now will only accommodate 1 open file at a time.
2) I miss not having the file size included in the data box that appears when you hold the cursor over a thumbnail. It was always handy when downsizing (resizing) photos for posting.
3) It is a pain now to have to go back and forth from the "EDIT" tab to the "MANAGE" tab to view full-sized photos (without having to open one at a time). They really screwed the pooch in X2 or X3 (can't remember) when they got rid of the old Organizer format. It was soooo easy to navigate; you had a screen full of thumbnails, you saw what you wanted and clicked it open....just too easy I guess!!! I was hoping they would go back to it for this version. I know in other forums, this change really rankled a lot of users. They just seem to bounce around trying different things. I wonder who the h*ll they use to test this stuff in-house.
I do like the faster speed, but don't know if I'll go for any more versions after this or not (been here since V.7 when JASC owned it). Big mistake selling if off to Corel. I've just about had it and there is some decent up and coming competition out there nowdays.
I use PSE 11 with 20,000 categorised photos in the Organiser. Can I migrate the Organiser to Lightroom if I make the switch ?
