Photoshop Elements :: Digitizing And Cataloging Mini DV Tapes
Dec 23, 2012
I recently got rid of my Canon GL1. before I did, I captured 30+ hours of footage using Premier Elements. Unfortunately, I cant view it without using premiere. All I want to do is save it as useable date for future editing in a format that is versatile as well as be able to catalog it easily.
AJA's web site claims Premiere Pro CC is compatible with the Kona LHi card, but I can't get the two to work together properly. After repeated tries, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything AJA, but still no luck.
I need to batch capture DV clips from some mini-DV tapes on my Sony MVR035U tape deck. But I also need to upconvert them from 480i to 720p60 using my Kona Lhi card. I should be able to do this with Premiere Pro CC. But the PPCC Capture window won't give me any audio feedback when I select "AJA Movie Capture" in the Capture Settings pull down menu. I only get audio feedback when I enable "DV capture" but then I'm no longer able to upconvert.
How can I make mini photos? I don't want several of one photo. I want one of several photos and mini photos of components in a photo, such as a face. I'm a very inexperienced Photoshop user.
I use Lightroom to catalog and develop my RAW files, and then create JPEG's for typical uses. But I don't end up with the JPEG's in my Lightroom catalog, and I think that would be useful finding the ones I want, the way I do with RAW files.
Is there a way to catalog both my RAW and JEPG files with Lightroom?
How to paint digitally in Photoshop and how to converted drawings digitally and paint them ?b) Tutorial or even a book but a tutorial would be prefered, on coloring and adding shadows to your drawings.
I have many PDF slideshows and PDF images. It seems that Lightroom will not read PDF files though... I recall that Bridge can read PDF files. I believe it would be a useful addition to LR to enable the viewing and cataloguing of PDF files.
I use CS4 on the Mac. I'm looking for an efficient solution for digitizing family photo albums. I know how to scan and fix the scanned image, if necessary. I know how to organize photos in Adobe Bridge. What I'm clear on is how to create captions for the photos that will will be permanently linked to the photo files and can be output for on-screen or print albums / galleries.
Also, what is a good tool for creating output? InDesign is an obvious possibility for print; but I was wondering if there is some sort of plug-in or companion product for PS designed specifically for generating albums and slideshows.
I have Photoshop 6.0 on my computer, and just bought a 700+ pg. 6.0 book from ebay, which I hope to absorb.
A library of 12 VHS 6.0 tapes sold for more than I could see paying. Since I have 6.0, would having CDs of 7.0 be too confusing, or would it be smart? I hope to upgrade to whatever the latest version is if I can absorb this stuff!
Might anyone have some complete learning CDs that has been burned into their brains, for sale cheap?
I am considering using GIMP 2.8 on my system with Mac OS X 10.6.8 to do thefollowing:
(1) Digitise a photograph by tracing over parts of it with lines. The photocould be, say, the roots of a tree. The lines would be colour codeddepending on the state of what they are over. I.e. roots in one state getstraced with one colour, while roots in another state would get a differentcolour. In the end I might end up with a bunch of lines, with the differentcolours of lines organised in different layers.
(2) Calculate the relative proportion of lines of a certain colour to thetotal length of all lines.
To do the above, I am wondering if GIMP has the ability to calculate thelength of lines drawn over an image (in, say, number of pixels). This way, Ican obtain the total pixel length all lines put together, and the totalpixel length of, say, just the blue lines.
Do you think GIMP is suitable for this kind of image analyses? Or should Iuse a vector based program like Inkscape?
Is there some indication that shows the “direction” of the digitizing?
For example, in the screenshot below, how to know the start and the end of the line? Which indication the AutoCAD provides rather than the coordinates?
I have both a 16 button cordless puck and a 2 button cordles pen stylus. I have the 16 button cordess puck configured to AutoCad 2011 tablet0.dwg. I want to be able to use the 2 button cordless pen stylus for digitizing/tracing drawings from model ship kit plans. So, do I calibrate or configure the pen stylus so AutoCad 2011 will recognize it?
I have some VHS tapes from the 80-90's of my Mum. I have imported these onto my PC. I would like to improve the quality when viewed on a modern TV. Can I do this in VSX5 or is there another way?
How to extract camcorder dvd tape to an actual dvd without the actual camcorder? Possible to do myself? I have the actual DVD tapes from a camcorder. However, the camcorder was stolen a few months ago.
Is it still possible to convert the tapes to a DVD using my computer, but without a camcorder? Neither do I have the money to afford a new camcorder nor a professional service to do it for me.
How to take the output from smoke to tapes(DIGI , BETA , DVCAM) if we have the recorders, and how to install and connect the recorders in smoke machine.
Just wanted to know the best way to transfer my HDV tapes to my computer. Should I use my canon hx-a1s or should I go out and buy a deck. I mean is there any differenence in quality?
Also what settings will give me the best results when transfering through adobe premiere cs4?
And, is it better to capture the video from adobe premiere or another application such as sony vegas, final cut, avid, etc. I still dont know if I will use adobe premiere or sony vegas to edit my footage, it depends whichever one plays my files in realtime, so I want to import in a way where I can have ease of use in any pro video editing program.
I'm trying to capture some VHS tapes to PC. I'm using my Sony camcorder DCR-TRV60E as analog-digital converter. This doesn't seem to work, although it's stated in the manual & all over internet that it should work. I'm not sure, but I think my A/V in is broken. I'm able to hear the audio from the connected analog device, but no video. Also the LCD screen on my camcorder is completly blue (as if it's getting no input). This is what I already tried:
1) VHS player > Camcorder A/V in + reviewed all camcorder settings (A/V -> DV out = on; ...) 2) portable DVD-player > camcorder (DVD has a 1-plug A/V out > 1 plug A/V in camcorder)
I'm thinking that my A/V input on the camcorder is broke. Any way to get confirmation? Or am I (still) missing a setting in the camcorder?
Just got on here and love Video Studio x4 with one exception. When I capture video from my DV8 tapes, sony player, it will miss half of the beginning of the capture. This has happened with more than one tape. If I use Windows Live Movie Maker, no problems.
I am trying to transfer 8mm tapes to my computer to make DVD's. I bought a "Startech S-Video / Composite to USB Video Capture Cable w/ TWAIN and Mac® Support" so that I could use any software w/it. I thought I could use Microsoft Movie Maker, but it doesn't work. So, I got VideoStudio Essentials X4 with the capture device. All my tapes are fine, and they play fine with I'm capturing...but when I go to view the video, it's jumpy. I only did a few minutes to see how it would do and that's where I hit a wall. I've emailed with Corel support for almost 2 months to find out that they don't support the software I got. As a last resort, he asked that I download the free version of VideoStudio Pro X4. I did, and still the same thing happens.
I use Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 mainly as I am a photographer. It involves both programs live and some huge PSD files kicking around. I am thinking of getting the high end new i7 with 16g and an SSD.
Is there a permanent fix for Mini bridge not working in PS CS6? I now continually get the message 'Waiting for Bridge CS6...". I am able run full Bridge, and I still get the same message whether full Bridge is running or not.
I had this problem recently and found a fix involving deleting the Switchboard folder which worked for a while but the error has returned and repeating the fix no longer works.
multiple image layouts where images are placed with mini bridge are not editable until the layout is saved, well still not, save and reopen and the images are not placed in the layout. deleated ps6 today, reinstalled, updated, purchased cc for ps.... still not working
I came here and found a download that fixed mini bridge for two weeks. Now back to bad behavior. Running Win 7.Hangs up "waiting for Bridge CS 5" but never finds the content.
I have already tried deleting the folder and rebooting the computer, I have tried creating a new user account, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire package and I cannot get Mini Bridge to work at all. It just keeps going to "Mini Bridge waiting for Bridge CS6..." and then never finds anything. I am having this issue on both my Macbook Pro Retina 15 and my MacBook Pro 13 (Early 2011 model). I also made sure that both Macbooks are fully updated as well as all CS6 software titles.
I currently have CS5 extended installed on a desktop (xp 32 bit) and a laptop (Win7 64 bit) all files are up to date. When I start Photoshop create a new file, start mini bridge to select the file I want to copy and paste into my new file. I select the file,it opens in Photoshop I press these key strokes (control-A; control-C), move to the file to be copied to and press control-V. The file may or may not be copied. Even pressing control-V several times. You can press edit; paste and still nothing happens. But press edit; paste special; the file will be copied into the file. If the file is copied on the first try go back and select a different file and repeat the process. To get the file pasted into the document I; created a new layer; control-V; file is copied to a layer. If I create a new layer then turn off this layer press: control-V the file can also be copied to a layer. All of the above is when I start mini bridge to navigate to the files.
Now close Photoshop and Bridge. Restart Photoshop start Big Bridge (not mini bridge)! Create a new file; use Big Bridge to navigate to the file you want to copy into the new document, files opens into Photoshop enter the keyboard short cut or tool bar to select the file, copy the file. Now switch to the file to be pasted into press;control-V or select; file; paste; now everything's works. Try this process with different files to be pasted into the new document and it works flawless every time.
How do I delete Adobe Photoshop CS6 Trial from my Mac Mini? I was upgrading to Adobe Photoshop CS6 not extended. So now I have Adobe Photoshop CS5, CS6, and CS6 extended. My computer is running very slowly. Are all these programs large? Can I delete all but the CS6 and how do I keep the photos I've done in CS5 in CS6 if I want to delete the CS5?
my client have a Mac Mini with 512Mb of Vram. He try to use the 3d features of photoshop cs6, but he cant because the menu is gray. The accelaration is In the Edit/Perferences/Performance menu is "ON".
The integrated video card of the Mac Mini is Intel HD 4000, it is strong enough to use the 3d "services" of Photoshop.
