I use Lightroom to catalog and develop my RAW files, and then create JPEG's for typical uses. But I don't end up with the JPEG's in my Lightroom catalog, and I think that would be useful finding the ones I want, the way I do with RAW files.
Is there a way to catalog both my RAW and JEPG files with Lightroom?
I have many PDF slideshows and PDF images. It seems that Lightroom will not read PDF files though... I recall that Bridge can read PDF files. I believe it would be a useful addition to LR to enable the viewing and cataloguing of PDF files.

I recently got rid of my Canon GL1. before I did, I captured 30+ hours of footage using Premier Elements. Unfortunately, I cant view it without using premiere. All I want to do is save it as useable date for future editing in a format that is versatile as well as be able to catalog it easily.

Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.
It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow. Could I use each image name as the exported file name?

I'm trying to export a JPEG so that the file size is smaller, for use on the web. So the file I have is 1.1 MB. I try to export via LR4 using the percentage slider, but no matter what percentage I use, the file size is always GREATER than 1.1 MB! And if I try to limit the size by inputing a value, say 1000 kb, I get an error message saying I can't do that for some reason:
Also, this is not the case with just one file, it is numerous files.
I want to shoot tethered in studio, and shoot RAW + JPEG, but I want Lightroom to only import the JPEGS so as to improve the speed. I shoot a Canon 7D.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running LR4.3 and CS6 on an iMac. I open a raw file in LR4, then open in CS6 from Lightroom. Edit a little, save as a jpeg, close, and the file does not come back into Lightroom. Either in a folder or in the collection. TIF and PSD come in... but not jpeg.
So I try to import the image. It does not show up in the folder as a non imported image... or at all. Then, I open my hard drive from Finder, go into the folder and there it is.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 5.2 64bit version on my windows. After I export my raw in to the jpeg it has noise. But in the develop module it hasn´t. Also it has got a little bit noise in the library, but it´s the same picture. Where is the sense?
Here are some pictures of that problem:
1. The finally edited raw picture which I want to export.
2. The view from the library, you can see a little bit difference on the quality compared to the view from the develop module.
3. The jpeg after the export.
4. My export settings.
I don´t know what to do! I´ve googled a lot but nothing found.
Supose I would like to convert my RAW files to JPEG (not export them!) in Lightroom, so that the RAW files would get replaced by the JPEG files, but keeping the whole history of adjustments once made to the RAW files on the develop panel.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am transitioning to using RAW files more often. I add metadata, including GPS info, captions etc. Then invariably I need to get JPEGs to someone and have to go through the hassle of exporting the RAW as a JPEG with the metadata.
Is there a way I can get that metadata into the sorta sidecar JPEG file on my Mac without having to go through the export process?
I suppose I could designate the preference that on import the RAW and JPEG were treated as separate files; could I then just copy the metadata in? I haven't really worked with separate JPEG+RAW before. Would it happen automatically if I stacked them? Haven't really explored that.
It just seems that every time I have decided to use the RAW invariably I need the JPEG and if I don't have LR available (say I'm working on someone else's computer but accessing my own files)

I Have started to use Lightroom 4 and importing RAW files into lightroom. To this point its fine, then i export them to Jpeg, again to this point it is fine. NOW !!! when i go back to the location i picked up the RAW files from, thet are not there, have they been saved into another location? or have they been over written?
i just noticed that changing the PPI from 240 (taken with my Canon) to 100 and exporting the photos to JPEG sized as 2MP have no change at all in size. Shouldn't 100PPI be smaller in size?

The watermark will not show if I exported the images in original size (6016 x 4016) as shot. However the watermark works fine if I resize the images to a smaller size, such as 1200 x 1024.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI shoot in RAW+JPEG so that I can recover from disasters, also I'm fairly new to digital photography so want to give myself as many options as possible. Lightroom works perfectly and imports both the JPG and RAW files from my 5Dmk2, it displays first the JPG, and then loads in the RAW file. This has the effect of showing a quick fullscreen view with one exposure settings, and (normally) once the RAW loads in, everything darkens as the RAW appears.
Sometimes however, the JPG's have perfect color balance and I'd rather work with them than spend 15 minutes screwing with the color - is there a way to toggle between the RAW vs. JPG in each pictureset?
I know there is an option to treat RAW+JPG pairs as a single file, but a quick way to switch between them would be very handy. Does this exist?
LR 4.2 will not send D600 NEF files to CS5 or CS6 whenever I right click on the image and chose "Edit In"...is this a glitch that is to be fixed in the upcoming LR upgrade or is this something I can fix now? Converting to a jpeg or dng before I can export to CS is a pain in the rumpus
