View 2 Replies View RelatedI have cs5 and I have a whole bunch of old tiff's and I want to convert them all to jpeg's...is there a way I can do a mass conversion from one to the other. Also I want to change pix size and resolution. If so how do I do it?? I know it can be done on Elements, if I can do it on that then there must be a way to do it on cs5.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to convert a large tiff(490MB) into a JPEG in Photoshop with CS5. The "save as" options don't show JPEG as an option. The image is in 8 bit mode already, and I've tried cmyk and rgb mode. "Save for web and devices" is also not an option. The image is one layer.

I am trying to batch convert several thousand TIFF files to lossless JPEG-2000, but I can't get it to work.
When I open a single file and "Save as" JPEG-2000 with the lossless option checked, the result is truly lossless. But when I record this as an Action and then Automate/Batch this action, the output is not saved as lossless.
Is there any way one can convert an imported photo in Jpeg or Bmp or Tiff or any other format into lines in a drawing?

My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:
I am a new lightroom user. I have a catalog of 2600 images that are jpeg files. I would like to change to file type tiff.
What would be the best method to get things changed?.
In CS6 I work with .tiff files and then export them to LR4 for editting. When I try to export the files back to CS6 they are converted to .jpeg files. Why?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince a couple of days when I export tiff files to jpeg the exported image looks darker. If I reimport it the histogram is evidently changed.
It looks like something messed up in preferences but I didn't make any changes (at least I didn't do it purposely).
I upgraded to the 4.4 version after this happened but nothing changed.
My Lightroom catalog contains a lot of PSD files (created in old versions of Photoshop, before TIFF was the default save format). They have layers. I want to convert these PSDs to TIFFs -- ideally TIFF+ZIP compression, since that seems to reduce the file size pretty significantly.
Is there any way to automate this? My current workflow goes like this: Open a PSD in PhotoshopFile > Save As, choose TIFF+ZIPDelete the PSD file.Lightroom detects the file is missing. Choose Locate on the file, select the .TIF version of the file, click OK.Click Confirm when prompted that the filenames don't match. Now I have a .TIF original in my catalog. This process requires a lot of manual effort. I can (kind of) automate the PSD > TIF conversion using Photoshop's Image Processor, but: Image Processor only allows LZW compression, not ZIP.After I delete the .PSD, Lightroom requires me to browse for each missing file and "Locate" it individually -- I can't do this with several files at once.
Other stuff I tried: Lightroom's Convert to DNG feature. This discards the layer information from my PSDs, so it won't work.Lightroom's Rename function. I thought I could rename the .PSD files to .TIF before converting them, thus saving the manual step of having to use "Locate" on each file. But Lightroom will not rename files to a different file extension, so this fails.Lightroom's Export feature with "Add to catalog" enabled. This is not what I want either, because it exports a file with LR edits applied. I want to replace the original file with a different format, while retaining all its LR metadata and edits in the catalog.
I run Lightroom 4.4 under Apple OS X10.4.4..When I export files Exif Tool (in Graphic Converter) under ICC header shows for Jpeg "Primary Platform = Microsoft and for = Tiff Apple; and under ICC Profile Color profile for Jpeg = HP but Adobe 1998 for Tiff. I can see that there is a difference between the profile for Jpeg and Tiff (eg sRgb and Adobe1998) but don't follow why the Primary platform differs and shows Microsoft for Jpeg and that the jpeg profile is HP

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.
I have lightroom 4, how do I convert from DNG to jpeg in lightroom?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI mostly shoot in RAW + JPEG and when importing my catalog I converted RAWs to DNG. However, I have on some occaisions had to shoot JPEG only and I'd like all my masters to be stored as DNG. The only option to convert JPEGs to DNG that I can find is via Export. I presume if I used this I'd have to export them all then delete the JPEG masters from my catalog before importing the DNGs.
I take it converting JPEG to DNG is lossless?
I have had no trouble in the past using automate/batch to change images from jpeg to tiff and back again. For some reason this last set of images will not transfer. Everything I have done to the images has taken twice as long as usual, even simple things like just getting the image to show up (they are all tiffs now). When I finally got everything fixed up I went to change the folders from tiffs to jpegs.
What happened is that the first image would change over then each successive one would overlay the one before it. So I could have ended with a "deck of cards" on the screen but nothing in the new folder I had created. I need to get these to a pr person asap but can't send a ton of CDs that the tiffs would take up.
I am trying to continue an assignment that I started at school today, but the Photoshop CS6 (64 bit) that I have on my laptop will not let me open any files. Not, JPEG, TIFF, PSD, PNG, nary a one of the photo types can be opened. It doesn't give me any signs of trouble or error messages. It just wont let me open a file or make a new file. I just sits there in all its power staring me down. why must Photoshop all of a sudden despise me so?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy camera out put is in JPEG I have no choice. While I can process jpeg with no problems in CS5 is there a better way to do this? would I be better off converting the JPEG to either tiff or psd and then process the file and then reconvert back to jpeg as the final product. I have heard so much about "lossy"(jpeg) vs "non Lossy" (tiff and psd) which are the ones I want to use?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop CS 5.1 on an iMac, running OS 10.8.2. I've encountered an odd behavior. Photoshop is open. I try to open a tif or jpeg in Photoshop by control-clicking the icon, or double-clicking in Bridge. Instead of simply opening the doc, Photoshop launches again - so now there are two Photoshop icons open in my dock. (And if I check behavior in Activity Monitor, indeed there are two Photoshop 5.1's running.) I get a message.
"The application has been moved, and its path has changed. To update the product configuration, click Update."
Click Update. Enter admin password. But then the problem simply recurs. The update isn't sticking.
The problem doesn't occur if I try to open a Photoshop doc by clicking it (just .tif and .jpg).
When I look in 'recent items - applications' in the finder I see two Photoshop 5.1's. But there is only one Photoshop 5.1 in my Application folder.
When I have two Photoshops open (as it were) neither one 'knows' about the windows open in the other. That is, if I have picture.psd open in one and picture2.psd open in the other, I don't see picture2.psd as an option in the bottom of the Window menu, if I'm viewing picture.psd.
But when I quit and just re-launch Photoshop from the dock, it remembers the docs from both launches via 'open recent'.
Most peculiar.
This really isn't inordinately impacting my workflow but it's odd, and I think it's slowing the system. (I'm thinking of updating to CS 6. Maybe it will just go away!)
Recently I have been unable to save tiff and psd files as jpegs. When I select "save as" from the file menue I do not have jpeg as an option in the drop down menue. I have always been able to save files as jpegs until recently.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAn associate is trying to open a 60,000 x 60,000 tiff file using PS CS5.1-Extended on a windows 7 platform with 6G RAM.
He gets the error message "Photoshop can only decode JPEG encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide of tall."
I suggested that he might have a jpeg whose extension got changed to tiff. He says no, it's a tiff, and besides how would one generate a jpeg that size.
Recently one of my photographer friend shared a scanned photograph, which was processed in photoshop and Duotone color mode was applied. So it's a PSD with Duotone color mode. Now when we go to Save as option, there is no option for saving it as TIFF or JPEG.
