I have photoshop elements 9. When I go to click on a layer to move it, the layer disappears or moves to an obscure location without me moving the cursor. I have tried restarting the program but it does not seem to work.

for example:-
If one of the buttons is pressed... nothing should happen.
Then when the other button is pressed then an element disapears.
(The user needs to be able to press the buttons in any order)
I have been usine verables to try and work this out. How I understand it is that I sould be able to store the verable on the stage and recall it.
This is where I have the problem. I have not pasted the stage code because it just does not work. But below is the code for one of the Symbol Button.I had set all the "Var" to "0" at the stage but can not change all recall them.

I use PSE9 for digital scrapbooking. Lately, when I have several pictures and elements on the page, I have to click on the Layers Pallette to select an item to move. If I don't click on another item, the item I have just selected will move when I move my mouse. I used to be able to click on an element or picture on the page and move it.

If I enter through the Editor, I can access the Organizer, but many of my recent photos will show only as an hourglass when viewed as thumbnails. Yesterday I purchased Photoshop Elements 11, uninstalled Photoshop Elements 9, and installed 11. I still have the exact same problems.

I can make them come back when I use the select tool with Ctrl + click, but only one by one. The only way to avoid this problem is to close my psd file and to reopen it, it is a little bit swelling...

I know this is the Photoshop section, but no one is on After Effects, I just got After Effects CS5, and I am using the new Rotobrush tool, but when ever I move the thing around that scrolls through the frames, my Rotobrush selections disappear, and I have to start over again. View 10 Replies View RelatedEver since the latest update to PS CS6, when I add a simple effect to a text layer, like emboss, the working image disappears when I zoom in and out. Also, the layer effect does nothing to the type. It's almost like a dispay issue. When I turn the layer effect off, my image is visible again.

I can bring them back by doing something like clicking on the text tool and then clicking on a text item on the stage. It's annoying because it takes a couple of clicks for the palette(s) to redisplay.
Is this a bug or is there a setting in preferences that can control this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a template and placed it in the Graphic Styles folder. When I use the New command and select the new template from Graphic Styles, the Guide layer disappears. When I double click the template to open it the guides are there. Why is the guide layer getting stripped out when I use the New command? I want to avoid opening from template everytime.
The weird thing is that I had a template that was opening with guides until I made some changes to it. Now it doesn't work either.
The 'Template' checkbox gets activated in Layer Options dialog box, and the box gets closed, then, the Layer name and several icons at the bottom of the Layer Panel disappear.The Layer is still there without a name, and rolling over the icons on the Layers Panel I can see the Tool Icons.Illustrator Prefs were trashed/restored using the Opt-Shift-Command restart shortcut.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe thumbnails in my Organizer are slow to load, and if I move the slider bar to the left to show more thumbnails they are replaced with the hourglass, and the comment 'building thumbnails' appears bottom left. The thumbnails do not reappear unless I increase the size to five columns or less.
I have disabled media analysis in preferences; I have run a repair on the catalogue; I have selected all the photos and selected 'update thumbnail'. None of this has worked.

i have a big problem and i can't finish my project until i fix the bug.
The problem is .. when i click on layer ,the layer just stay brown and i can't move it ... when i try i move only the red background.If i want to move the layer i have to click 2 times on in and then the layer is blue and i can move is....
when i open photoshop elements 11 my thumbnails are displayed but then they quickly turn into an hourglass and then disappear and turn into a torn/ripped/broken page/photo icon.. i have tried refreshing, updating thumbnail, repairing cache, erasing cache, unistalling and reinstalling.. even tried too import same folder of photos on tw different computers and had the same problem. also, i can see the humbnails in windows explorer so i know the files are not corrupt or damaged.

When I select content using the crop tool then hit enter (or the green checkmark) the picture just disappears. This happened all of a sudden a few days ago. I can do COMMAND Z to undo and the picture reappears. But every time I crop the picture disappears and the layer thumbnail just turns brown.
I am not able to move layers around on my layout once I have selected them. What could be wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn V12, for the large Catalog that I have converted from V8: After closing in the PSE Editor the edit of a photo, the horizontal red bar with the text "Edit in Progress" takes typically much too much time to disappear from the PSE Organizer. I am seeing this problem wrhen using the large V12 PSE Catalog (around 70'000 cataloged folto files, including the multiple versions within Version sets), that I have converted from PSE V8. With V12, typically for the jpeg photo Files that i have shot this year with my Nikon D5000, it takes around 16-18 seconds between
- the time where I complete within the Editor closing the edit
- and the time until the red bar disappears from the Organizer.With V8, this took only a couple of seconds.
I noticed that for my older photos shot in 2004 wih a Canon compact camera (and originally cataloged with PSE Version V3) , in V12 this is much faster: a couple of seconds (I will need to measure that more precisely), even though I use the same V12 PSE Catalog, the same PSE Preferences and the same Windows 7 based PC for the tests with the recent photos of my recent D5000 cameras and for the tests with the old photos of my old Canon compact camera.
I do not understand, why these timing differences between the photos shot with my modern NIKON D5000 and the photos shot with my old Canon compact camera. There is a difference in the file size (around 3.4 MB vs around 14.MB ); but I doubt whether this can be the explanation.
Also, I noticed that in "Information --> Metadata --> GPS" the Organizer sjows me for my Nikon D5000 photos (just) the following entry: GPS Version 2.2.0.0 (something that is not shown for the photos shot with my old Canon compact camera). Myself do not use GPS datza (at least: not concsiously). There are probably also other differences in the Metadata.
I remembder that many years ago, I was seeing similar long times for some activities (I do not fremember which ones). After some investigations, it turned out that the reason for these long times was a component that was trying to adccess rersouces that were not located on my PC but were instead located remotely on the Laptop of my wife (which was in the same Windows Home networjk)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a travel-brochure. Initially it was a tri-fold but now it turns out that I need more space hence, I need to go up to the four-fold which covers a legal-sized page of 8.5 x 14, as opposed to the standard 8.5 x 11.
However, the added three inches to the canvas size was added on either side of my project when I really want everything to the left margin with the 3 inches left over on the right, which would be characterized by an extra flap or fold.
Now I have a lot of layers and elements going on which have not been flattened. So I thought that if I highlighted everything by clicking on each layer with the control button depressed when upon finishing I could just drag the entire "project" to the left of center. NOPE.
A message states, " layers are locked and cannot blah blah" something to that effect.
I tried not pressing on the background layer and then clicking the rest becaue I did a test run in a new project by throwing up a bunch of layers and when I clicked on the four layers leaving the background layer not clicked, everything moved together.
So I tried that, but it still didn't work in my main one. A possible theory as to why it's not is that there are layers of my images that have that little spray can icon on the bottom right corner (AI) I believe? These are like jpegs, so when I want to manipulate them, I have to open them up in another project; cut up the image or whatever, then flatten, then cut and paste back into my main project.
So do I flatten my current project first, then move it over, then unflatten?
How can I shift my project to the left of center by still retaining the layers etc..
When I followed the step 2 from this tutorial:[URL] said Could not use the move tool because no layers are selected.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Photoshop CC in Windows8 64x as trial and find a curious bug with the Move Tool:Usually I select multiple layers creating a selection with the Move Tool on them, but in this new CC version the tool is selecting hidden layers too. More details: the hidden layer are inside a folder. The folder is hidden, but the inside layers are not.
This type of selection has always worked perfectly in previously versions, and of course, I leave the option "Auto Select> Layer" enabled.
Why does the move tool jump a few pixels when trying to line layers up? I have to zoom in to get a smoother movement and even at 1600% it still jumps a few pixels when i'm using it.
