Ever since the latest update to PS CS6, when I add a simple effect to a text layer, like emboss, the working image disappears when I zoom in and out. Also, the layer effect does nothing to the type. It's almost like a dispay issue. When I turn the layer effect off, my image is visible again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7. Recently upgraded from LR 4 (which was always stable for me) to LR 5. I have the application on one drive and my catalog and previews on a separate SSD drive. Anytime I run lightroom 5, after a little while (10-15 minutes), the drive with the catelog and previews is no longer accessible or even viewable from windows explorer. I've never had this trouble with any other program and the only way I've been able to see the drive again is by restarting my computer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently attempted to simulate a piece of clothing, however, everytime I hit the simulate button it straight up disappears without warning and it's gone until I "Reset" its state again. I don't know what to do. It's currently set up at default settings with a plane as the collision and the piece of clothing as the cloth.

While adding text and applying (experimenting) various "Effects" with the text, I used the garbage can icon to remove the "Effect", thinking it is going to remove the 'Effect" from the text, until I realized I had to remove the "Effect" with the edit button, not the garbage can. Have I now permanently removed the various "Effects" permanently or just off the screen? How do I regain them back onto the menu column? How many "Effects" should be visible in order to have the complete set? This was my first experiment with the lettering effects and hope I haven't lost them forever.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is causing my EG Data Reference Surface to disappear on screen and Profile goes to crap? I've noticed this twice on same project in separate drawings. If I go to Toolspace and synchronize then it appears back on screen.
First dwg: I created a Pump Station Site Plan and data referenced in my surface and pipe network. I save and close then reopen and EG is gone until I synchronize.
Second dwg: I created a Railroad Crossing Exhibit showing plan and profile. I data referenced in my surface and pipe network. Same thing...save, close, reopen and I have to synchronize it to have plan and profile to appear ok.
This isn't good when I have .dsd files that I typically plot my drawing package from. I sent multiple sets of drawings to the plotter and all my Pump Station Site Plans were missing the surface contours. For this sheet, I had to synchronize and send separate plots just to have contours appear.
I am looking to do is add a few effects.
how to do for the life of me is make the phone look skinny like an hourglass look and the second I would like the opposite and make it look chubby. Advice on how to achieve this would be great, I tried the transform/skew%distort&perspective tools but am unable to achieve the effect I invision because when I try to move a corner the other corners and pull points are affected. Sorry probobly doesn't make much sense. The distort tool was the closest I could get to the hourglass look but it was too skinny..

I want to change the face of my text. Not color as with RGB selection, but with a pattern or texture.
IE: Billet Aluminum face with rivets or Diamond Plate look.
Normally I would matte it, but I also want to Extrude it For a "fat 3d look"
PS or AE?
Matte is not a renderable option using 3drt, Cheating it, using an alpha add mode and an alpha track is not getting a render. Is this a job for PS to create my text as a 3d text and then import it as a comp? Or will I lose 3d like in AI?
I've been using XCLIP for years. Never had an issue.
Today I installed 2012 and found that the ability to stretch and edit XCLIP boudaries had finally been added. SWEET!....wrong.
I was working merrily along when all of a sudden my screen blinked, refreshed, or something, and 80% of the lines within my XCLIP boundaries just disappeared.
I closed the drawing and reopened. Closed ACA and reopened. Rebooted and reopened. Gone.
If I delete the XCLIP, it all comes back. Apply a new XCLIP, gone again.
Open the drawing in ACA2011, still gone. EGADS!
Is this a totally new problem???
It literally took less than an hour after installing to find a problem in ACA 2012. My Autodesk woes continue.
I was just working on several documents when something strange happened - out of nothing the appearance of fonts,layers, backgrounds etc changed. white color turned black. some layers had total different colors ( bitmap layers, no shape layers) - everything looked really messed up. I thought its some display bug in Photoshop cc so I saved my document and restart everything - fun thing -> it did save with these alterations.
Whatever happened, I have the problem in 2 documents, i can't reproduce it - one was a pretty big psd file - the other one was a fairly new one. Because of Time machine i was able to recover my file.

I have 4 different text layers showing up, and they're all visible. (a real small "the," a much larger "Wedding," a small "of," and a large "Jane Smith.") I like to have the different words on separate text layers so I can move them around and lay them out the way I like.
I got to the point where I wanted to apply blending effects to the text (drop shadow, bevel, whatever). Now, since I have 4 different text layers, what I'd normally do is merge them into one rasterized layer and then do my effects. But I'm wondering if there is a better, more non-destructive way. Code:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI didn't have any problems with transition effect, but suddenly,some effects, like flip album and the ProDad plugin are causing VS to hang and not respond: flip album is causing the hang just after the automatic preview (can't turn this off) and just clicking on the ProDad plugin is freezing VS. They are also causing the rendering process to hang (turned off smart rendering as well).I've reinstalled the software wituhout SP2 and still the problem persists.No matter what kind of media I insert before or after the transitions, the problem is the same.I assume there is some kind of incompatibilty between VS and some OS/driver update - any way to know for sure?

I imported these files as raster layers and they appear clear within the pre-compositions of AE. The problem that I run into is when I exit the pre-comp and view the final composition the nested layers become pixelated. The layers are vector layers and I have tried everything that I can to correct the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the Liquify Filter's final results. When using the filter it works fine, and if I use the filter on a solid layer its results given back to the original image are perfect also.
However, using the filter on a layer that has mostly transparency behind it (a layer with sketched line-art on it for example), the result given back to the original image is brightened significantly. The only work-around I have found so far is to merge a solid colour background to the transparent layer, and then the result works fine. However this is not desirable because future use of the image as line-art requires editing to get it back onto its own layer that can be destructive when the work contains toning.
when I transform my edit into an after effects composition from the premier timeline the text layers all come over as black solids and the text content is lost.
I don't give two hoots as to your no doubt legitimate technical reasons for this, but the bottom line is that it sucks, it's a waste of my time and effort and it just seems like a simple thing that you should have implemented from the ground up when building the dynamic linking between AE and PR.
Is there an expected timeframe for the issue to be addressed?
Just to explain my typical workflow a little, I'm an editor/motion artist, so it's very frequent I'll lay out all my picture assets and text objects on a video edit timeline alongside vo and music, and once I'm happy with the flow I move the timeline over to Ae to commence animation for tv commercials, political spots, advocacy work, whatever.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a photo that I'd like to add text to. The text is very simple, and I would like it in the upper left corner of the image. If someone could be so kind as to maybe work the image if they were so inclined, and then maybe explain how it was done.
I've tried simply using the text tool, but for starters, the text isn't displayed properly. For example, when I typed an "F," the displayed text was a, "?." Sounds like a font issue, I tried all the fonts, they all display a "?."
Second, I know I need to make a new layer for the text to be added to the image, but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. I'm not sure what kind of layer to open for it, and I'm not sure how to blend the layers once I do. I also want the beginning letter to be one font, and the following three to be another. For example, the beginning letter to be a cursive lowercase, large font "f," while the other letters are arial font lowercase, smaller font, "ine." With the period included in the text. This isn't what I want the text to read, but it should help you guys that choose to help come up with something.
On a side note, I'd love to take those trees out of the pic. Would you guys recommend matching the color of the sky and brushing over, or is there another way that might be better. I'd like this pic to be as clean as possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add a simple text layer to some relatively small JPEG files - each file is only about 3 or 4 MB in size before any editing or additions are made to the files. I am using P-shop CS2 on a PC with Windows XP SP2.When I add a few lines of simple text (with no special effects) to any of these files and attempt to save the edited file as a .TIFF or .PSD file with the text as its own layer in the file - the resulting .TIFF or .PSD file is a 30 or 35 MB file which is hard to work with because of its size. These files have only two layers in them - the text layer and the base image. It just does not seem logical that a simple text layer would make a file increase in size by 10 times.
I would like to try to save the edited image files as .TIFF or .PSD so that I can go back and make future edits to the text layer.I have tried to save the edited file with the text layer as a .zip file but these files are also still very large - 20 MB or so.Maybe I have some basic file settings wrong that are making the files so large? Well, to join the two different parts i have choosen AE software (actually is After Effects CC).Well, as i said the animation and scenario are in a different project, and i have joined both in AE. But the scenario is not always just a landscape. Sometimes is a building that the actor walks on it, so i have (in some way) to put the actor "in" the building, and if i was working with images i would easly solve that problem: select and extract to another layer what i want to be in first place, or to be the landscape. At the same logic, how can i do this in After Effects CC?Can i extract some objects by color as i can do in Photoshop?
2º For storytelling reasons, i would like that , in some moment, everything turns gray , and the actor is colored. but there's more! i would like that the actor leaves a colored path (the path that he is taking in animation). Is there any way that i can do it?
If i cant do it, i have to re-build the entire animation in Cinema4D.
I have an excel list of about 2000 names. I need to add each name text to a image I created and then have it saved as a separate file. Is there any kind of automation/shortcut to do something like this, rather then manaully typing each name?

I can make them come back when I use the select tool with Ctrl + click, but only one by one. The only way to avoid this problem is to close my psd file and to reopen it, it is a little bit swelling...

I am using Elements 6.0. I want to fade my image to white on the right side of the image. That way I can add text there in the plain white space. I've seen several ways to do this, but none seem to work on 6.0. using 6.0 . I tried a few ways explained on higher versions but I can get it to work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOriginally, I'd used linear transparency on image#1 which caused a line that showed up only on a Ricoh-generated hard proof. I kept the transparency of image#1 and converted it to a bitmap, so no lens, but still the line. Finally I ditched the transparency I'd applied to image#1 and placed image#2 over image#1 to achieve the fade-out of image#1 that I had originally intended. Now image#2 is creating a line only evident when printed on that bloody Ricoh!
