After I am done making a picture I want to add more things to spice it up. You know like adding layers with lower opacity with other effects like text and whatnot. My problem is finding things that go well with the pictures.
View 9 RepliesEver since the latest update to PS CS6, when I add a simple effect to a text layer, like emboss, the working image disappears when I zoom in and out. Also, the layer effect does nothing to the type. It's almost like a dispay issue. When I turn the layer effect off, my image is visible again.

how to do for the life of me is make the phone look skinny like an hourglass look and the second I would like the opposite and make it look chubby. Advice on how to achieve this would be great, I tried the transform/skew%distort&perspective tools but am unable to achieve the effect I invision because when I try to move a corner the other corners and pull points are affected. Sorry probobly doesn't make much sense. The distort tool was the closest I could get to the hourglass look but it was too skinny..
I am just starting to learn Layers and have several books, etc. to guide me. All the books start with lessons that assume you have several images (layers) under the Layers tab. The lessons describe what you do with all those layers but I can't find how to get the images under the tab. Can anyone tell me how to get several images under the layers tab?

I've read all sorts of tutorials, but I stilll can't figure out the most basic of things. I'm sure the answer is simple but I just can't get it to work and it's frustrating.
I understand what layering is, but I can't add layers. I can make a dublicate layer out of the background, but when I add a new layer it is always the same checkboard sheet. I can't figure out how to change it, how to add layers made from other images.
Every time I access another image to get another layer, my previous layer of the previous image has always disappeared from my layers palette. I've tried locking them, I've tried organizing them by putting them in sets,
I've tried many different options but I just cannot get 2 layers of 2 different images on at the same time in my layers palette., so I can link them and merge them. What am I doing wrong ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just completed a project that involved four layers. this was my first attempt at layering and i must say it turned out real nice. After I finished I thought I would go back and do some retouching with the healing brush but I now get a message that "cannot use the healing brush because the target layer is hidden".
From now on I will do my correction and retouching before I add layers.
Anyway to use the healing brush or clone stamp now on the finished (layered) file???
this is a pretty newb question, but how do you open a current layer in a photoshop file into a new window so that all the dimensions of the new window will automatically fit tightly around that that layer? is this possible?
I'm trying to add the new layers into new windows so i can automatically save each layer image as a jpeg. I'm doing this so i can load each image separately in flash and do cool tricks with it.
I recently purchased VideoStudio Pro X4. I have been making movies just fine, but now I am wanting to try some new things such as effects. Here are some things I would like to try, but I am not sure if VideoStudio has this capability:
1. Add explosions to movies.
2. Also other effects like lightning coming from fingertips.
3. I have seen in other video clips where people have added a mouth to various inanimate objects such as a wall or fruit or whatever. The object would remain still while the mouth spoke. I am not sure if this is clear or not.
I noticed that some have used Adobe After Effects. Is this what is needed? It seems kind of expensive.
It's really convenient when using an effect a lot to keep pressing CTRL+F. Is there any way I can do this but with multiple effects? I was thinking there might be a way with CodeLab, but I couldn't find out how. Is there a way to do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a clip where I have tracked the motion of two eyes (not the eyemovement, but the location). The tracking is awesome by the way. The placeholders are following the movement very good. My goal is to have some kind of effect on the eyes (scary, sci-fi etc), like lens flare coming out of them. But I can't figure out how to add this effect to the motion I have tracked. I have tried adding the effect to the place holders, but it looks very ugly and they are still just a couple of squares.
how I can add an effect to a motion track like this..?

I want to change the face of my text. Not color as with RGB selection, but with a pattern or texture.
IE: Billet Aluminum face with rivets or Diamond Plate look.
Normally I would matte it, but I also want to Extrude it For a "fat 3d look"

Matte is not a renderable option using 3drt, Cheating it, using an alpha add mode and an alpha track is not getting a render. Is this a job for PS to create my text as a 3d text and then import it as a comp? Or will I lose 3d like in AI?
Is there any way to seperate a layer from its effects, so that the effects become actual layers that filters can be applied to?
Like if I had an inner shadow, is it possible to remove that shadow effect from the layer itself and make it a seperate layer, so it is still an inner shadow but is its own raster layer, so that it is possible apply a Lighting effects filter to it?
There is an element that I don't want to move (x and y co-ordinates) but I want to add effects to it (like bounce effects). How do I do this?

I have a Nvidia Quadro 6000 running in combination with a tesla c2075 there was not any problem i could see with other CS6 programs and it was working fine with CS5.

I have a project that is currently in 720x534. I would like to add a layer behind it that has the same height, but is wider and I don't want to mess up all the layers that are done in 720x534.
If I try to change the composition settings, it stretches out my original work.
I've tried creating a new project with the wider composition setting and simply importing the original video to layer over top. That works, except that I lose the transparencies of the original.
How can I either add a layer to a project that has a different aspect ratio without affecting the other layers OR export a video with transparencies.
I'm trying to understand why adding colour correction, or auto contrast to my some of my clips is causing them to have flicker. It's not a consistent flicker either, but random.
The footage affected is 720p at 29.97fps in a timeline with the same settings. The raw footage appears fine. Once effects are added, the image stutters. I have rendered the preview files and the issue remains the same, likewise when exported.
I'm working on an image, and I need it to say "The Wedding of Jane Smith."
I have 4 different text layers showing up, and they're all visible. (a real small "the," a much larger "Wedding," a small "of," and a large "Jane Smith.") I like to have the different words on separate text layers so I can move them around and lay them out the way I like.
I got to the point where I wanted to apply blending effects to the text (drop shadow, bevel, whatever). Now, since I have 4 different text layers, what I'd normally do is merge them into one rasterized layer and then do my effects. But I'm wondering if there is a better, more non-destructive way.
I do video graphic design at my job, working with a video editor, and it would be extremely convenient if I could apply effects to multiple text layers without first rasterizing and merging the layers. i.e. when my boss or the client is looking over my shoulder, and I can show him what the text looks like with the blending FX without having to commit to the text placement/size by rasterizing/merging.
all of a sudden, the display in PSE11 is so big on my Mac that I can't see the right-hand screen components, including the layers or effects. I looked all through the preferences and can't figure out how to re-size the display back to the default. I can't even minimize the display enough to grab the corner and pull the window in a little. Is there any way to re-set the display to the default so I can see the layers and effects, without reinstalling the program?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just working on several documents when something strange happened - out of nothing the appearance of fonts,layers, backgrounds etc changed. white color turned black. some layers had total different colors ( bitmap layers, no shape layers) - everything looked really messed up. I thought its some display bug in Photoshop cc so I saved my document and restart everything - fun thing -> it did save with these alterations.
Whatever happened, I have the problem in 2 documents, i can't reproduce it - one was a pretty big psd file - the other one was a fairly new one. Because of Time machine i was able to recover my file.
Retina Macbook Pro 15, OSX 10.8.4 and newest photoshop CC via teamcloud.
I scanned a drawing I made as a .jpeg, opened it in PS CS4, converted the background to a layer, added a curves adjustment layer, and when I try any of Flatten Image or Save as Jpeg the results disregards all or part of the effects of the adjustment layer. The same happens for a levels adjustment layer . I have attached the original jpeg and the .psd with the curves adjustment layer.
