Photoshop :: Selecting Layers With Move / Select Tool Is Imprecise (CS6)
Aug 23, 2012i switched from CS5 to CS6 Extended (Win 7 64bit) and I'm a little bit confused about the select/move tool (V). I have "automatic selection" activated and when I click on a layer, Photoshop often selects a nearby layer but not the one I'm clicking at - often the layer selected is more on top of the layer I was planning to select, but that was no problem in CS5 ... Is there anything I can change in the settings or is this behavior "normal"?
For example - a cursor placed at the marked position selected the white arrow-vector-shape.

Apr 15, 2013If I right click on on the shape tool and try to select any of the choices nothing happens, the menu keeps showing. I also can't move any layers anymore using the move tool.
Seems like a focus issue perhaps? Latest Windows CS6 Photoshop updated to the latest version.

Jul 15, 2013I use PSE9 for digital scrapbooking. Lately, when I have several pictures and elements on the page, I have to click on the Layers Pallette to select an item to move. If I don't click on another item, the item I have just selected will move when I move my mouse. I used to be able to click on an element or picture on the page and move it.

Photoshop :: Move Tool Auto Select Is Not Capturing Multiple Objects Upon Drag / Select
Jun 18, 2013I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.

Jan 23, 2008Whenever I go to grab a set on my actual document with it selected in my layer palette...it drops right down to selecting the background layer or opens up my layer set and selects a layer within my layer set. I guess I'm not clicking the right spot but in my mind, Shouldn't it just move all the layers instead of randomly selecting some other layer that I didn't select?

Sep 16, 2013where I can't use the move tool with the mouse properly. I'll go and select a single item on a layer and then try to move it with the mouse (move tool). I've done this before and still do it all the time on Photoshop on my other machines. However, on my laptop it won't work. I grab the single object I want to move and the second I move it, it defaults to moving every single layer in my file.

Mar 1, 2008I am using the 30 day trial version of CS3 before I buy. I have been using Elements for years.
I have a PSD file that was sent to me. In elements I can click on any item in the file and move, delete etc.
But in CS3 I can not do that. I have to go to layers and find the layer I am looking for, click on it in the layer list and then I can go to the image and manipulate it.
Is this just the way it works in CS3 or do I need to flip a switch somewhere.

On each viewport I have a black or white bars on right. these bar make the mouse become inaccurate for example when i want to select a vertex I can't drag the mouse on it and click. I have to move the mouse away from it a distance to select it (see my attachment image). I tried to update the graphic driver and the 3ds max 2012 SP1 but the problem's still there.

When I try to move a layer selected in the layer panel (or selected via ctrl-alt-right click), a click on the layer selects the layer effect above instead.It seems like there is some kind of click through enabled. If I click on a transparent part of the layer, the layer below get selected instead.
My first thought was that this had something to do with "Auto-select layer/group", but it's disabled. how can I go back to normal mode, so I can click anywhere in a layer, transparent or not, and move the items in it etc?(I'm using Photoshop CS6.)

Nov 14, 2013I'm creating a travel-brochure. Initially it was a tri-fold but now it turns out that I need more space hence, I need to go up to the four-fold which covers a legal-sized page of 8.5 x 14, as opposed to the standard 8.5 x 11.
However, the added three inches to the canvas size was added on either side of my project when I really want everything to the left margin with the 3 inches left over on the right, which would be characterized by an extra flap or fold.
Now I have a lot of layers and elements going on which have not been flattened. So I thought that if I highlighted everything by clicking on each layer with the control button depressed when upon finishing I could just drag the entire "project" to the left of center. NOPE.
A message states, " layers are locked and cannot blah blah" something to that effect.
I tried not pressing on the background layer and then clicking the rest becaue I did a test run in a new project by throwing up a bunch of layers and when I clicked on the four layers leaving the background layer not clicked, everything moved together.
So I tried that, but it still didn't work in my main one. A possible theory as to why it's not is that there are layers of my images that have that little spray can icon on the bottom right corner (AI) I believe? These are like jpegs, so when I want to manipulate them, I have to open them up in another project; cut up the image or whatever, then flatten, then cut and paste back into my main project.
So do I flatten my current project first, then move it over, then unflatten?
How can I shift my project to the left of center by still retaining the layers etc..

3ds Max :: Viewport Not Updating When Select Or Move Object
Mar 26, 2012Have a bit of an odd problem showing up with 3ds Max 2012 64 Bit. The viewport does not update when I select or move an object. The program registers that I did make some changes, and things like object parameters and bounding boxes will change, but the meshes will remain the way they are until I delete them and undo.
Forcing the program to redraw all views does not change anything, nor does turning on/off progressive display.
