View 3 Replies View RelatedI have accumulated about 3000 family photos by scanning old printed and accumulating new digital photos. The problem is that they are spread into 2 desktops and 2 laptops, and I also have pictures still into 3 digitals cameras. Now before I organize those photos with Photoshop Element Organizer, I am in search of the best way to merge all those pictures into my new laptop which has C and D drive. I was planning to put my programs on C: and my data on D: to latter ease my backup task.I want to build the right structure right now and not to regret anything done wrong latter.
1) Should I proceed with a transfer using a USB key drive for my scanned photos and for those received by email? They are already in the form of yyyy-mm-dd
2) Should I use the software from my first CANON 3 MEG camera, and the software of my 2nd CANON 5 MEG, and then the 3rd software of my SAMSUNG 12 MEG to transfer the photo to my new folder?
3) Should I put them all in the same folder?
4) Am I right that any duplication will be found by the ORGANIZER and this will be solved easily?
5) My guess is that they will all end up being in date order like yyyy-mm-dd.
In the videos on line, they don’t talk much about that special case of organizing a big data bank into one single new computer
I have loaded photos into Organize but I cannot transfer from Organize to Edit without the whole system freezing up. The cursor is a hand... I can't even get that to work....and then I can't close the page. I just purchased (a download) this upgrade from Elements 6. That wasn't so terribly user-friendly, but Elements 11 is a nightmare!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from PSE 9 to PSE 11 and decided to redo my catalogue from scratch. My photos are already on the hard drive in the format of Main folder Photographs with the years underneath that. In each year I have put the twelve months with the number of the month before the name so that the stay in date order. (e.g. January is 01 Jan, Feb is 02 Feb). When I imported the photos into the catalogue I found that the list of folders on the left did not stay within the year and month so there was a long list of folders with no hierarchical structure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to add the name of the person printing the document as well as the date to any paper copies printed. However, since everythign is stored in Vault, this needs to be done without making any changes to the document that require saving the document.
Ideally this would be automatic(requiring no user input).

I'm aware that Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 is not supported by Adobe anymore. I have thousands of photos organized on it using its "Category" function. Does Photoshop Elements 11 have a similar function? (I'm in the midst of also switching to a new computer and my old one can't load the info on the PS 11 program available on this site.) I'm extremely concerned I not lose the ability to retrieve my pix by the categories I've already assigned them, when I switch to PS 11 on my new computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I transfer the entire organizer of Elements 9 to the empty organizer in Elements 12? By the way, Elements 9 is so defective, it will not even let me back up my organizer in 9. The 9 organizer would let me select a photo, bring it into the editor, print it and then it would crash... then I had to start all over again... the darn thing crashes as it was prone to problems that adobe ignored. Is it better to just re-load all the photos from a fresh folder that is on my desktop? There are 5,000 !
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using PE9. Every time I go to the Organizer (even after switching to another program briefly) the Update box appears, searching Watched Folders for new pics. It always finds them, frequently the same, imports them and then tells me they're already in the Organizer. During this process, which may last 5-15 minutes, I can't use the program.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop Elements 10. If I want to use Photoshop with digital art (paintings mostly) and want to do touch up work and move elements of paintings into multiple layers, what extra features does Photoshop have that would benefit this application?
And what features are in Photoshop Creative Cloud, and CS6, versus CS5? I do want to save some money and CS5 might be quite sufficient for my amateur uses.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm still having a difficult time understanding how to use layers to edit digitial photos in photoshop. Based on every tutorial I've tried, I have found a common theme: the best way to edit photos is by creating copies of the original image and making different types of edits to each copy and then merging these edited copies into one final image that reflects all the edits combined. I have been lead to believe that the reason for making copies of the original image is so that edits can be made to each individual "layer" and not to the original photo. This way the edited layers can be compared to the untouched original to make sure everything looks the way its supposed to. Here is what is frustrating me to death. No matter how many "layers" I create of my original image, every edit I make shows up in every other layer I create along with the original. I thought that any edits I make to the active layer are only supposed to show up on that layer and no where else. Is this true? If so, how do I set up my editor so that the edits I make only show up in the layer I am actually working on? It seems to me if the edits I make are going to always show up in every layer I have created, and in the orignal image, then there is no point in using layers at all when I edit my photos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble figuring out how to use layers to edit digital photographs. Based on the online tutorials I've viewed, I'm under the impression that in order to edit parts of a photograph without affecting the original background image, I am supposed to create a layer for each set of edits I want to make and then merge these layers together to form a complete edited image with all the touch ups I want to make. I am also under the impression that any edits I make to the layers I create should not be showing up in the original background image, otherwise I have no way of comparing the original to the edited parts of the image to see if everything looks the way I want. Is there any way to make edits to image layers without these changes showing up in the original image and if so, how do I do it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the Photoshop Elements 12 two days ago. It kept crashing. It finally installed....but I can't use it. When I go to Elements organizer, a little box comes up saying "restoring people recognition data". It shows that it has run to 22% but then stops and I have to close out the photoshop program because I can't do anything else with it.This is a brand new, expensive, program. I've had Adobe Photoshop 8 since it first came out and had no problem. I see by the chat line that the Organizer (Adobe 12) has had problems since 2009....
